Ed Oneil/Al Bundy...gets it. He gets why being a celebrity people call him AL. It's NEVER disrespect, it's LOVE. They love Al Bundy. Ed Oneil, gets Al Bundy makes people happy, so as long a Ed knows that, he has accepted that he's Al Bundy.
i remember when i was a kid i would watch Night Court and one day as commercials came on i changed the channel and accidentally ran into Married with Children and from that point on i would watch Married with Children instead of Night Court
The show became a bigger hit when the 6th season premiered on FOX in Sept 1991 - daily syndicated reruns of "Married" also began that month. Those who didn't get to see the show from the beginning were now able to catch it 5 times a week.
It is the same with Peter Falk and "Colombo". When an actor is so good, that he not only creates a character but an iconic role, then he IS for the audience the character he played.
It was a tandem effort. 21 Jump Street was the breakout smash hit publicly but MWC held court behind the scenes. The marginal network fans only looked at Johnny Depp but the cool kids knew who Al Bundy was. More than Al, they knew who KELLY Bundy was. She was the reason that younger people first came to watch the show. Though, that it lasted so long by the time No Ma'am came along the early fans of the show were now waiting on their first kids to be born. So its really a remarkable TV show run.
Come back for another season on TV, please :)))Anyway loves you and we will ...always remember..... millions of people around the world laugh because of you
I didn't know his real name until the other day and I'm 37.my family which was my dad mom brother and sister would watch married with children every week for years.
favorite tv show ever. I grew up watching this in the 90's and thank goodness.I feel like if I didn't I'd be one of these over sensitive millennials crying about being offended all the time. I'm glad Ed found a way to keep his sanity and stay down to earth too.
Heh, interesting comments here, crediting The Simpsons, Married With Children, and 21 Jump Street as the shows that built the Fox network, with no mention of The X Files. Surely Mulder and Scully deserve some mention.
Not quite. Married definitely was a huge part of the success of Fox, and for the record I love the show, but The Simpsons had the bigger ratings and not only that they were always the bigger name in popular culture. People who didn't watch Fox knew about The Simpsons. The same couldn't be said for Married With Children for most of it's run.
The show had an incredibly annoying studio audience, but I thought it was really funny and clever. Its characters were believable, lovable and hilarious (well, maybe except for Al's friends in his No Ma'am group).
Ed should've won an Emmy for his role of Al Bundy.
I'd say it behind your back, but my car only has a half tank of gas.
This guy is so underrated. One of the greatest American actors of all time.
Great comedic actor. The Simpsons and Married with Children built the Fox network.
My dad and I used to watch the show all the time, it was our together time.
I loved how he treated kelly's boyfriends...lmao
Married with children still one of my favorite shows.
Ed O'Neill did a superb job on the show. Great comedic work.

Hands down best show ever.
