We learnt how to build our van using only CZcams and a bit of pirate science. Take a look inside our beautiful van conversion to see how we fit everything we need to live comfortably inside. Less is more in our van!
We show you around our self-converted Ford transit (la Bamba) that we are traveling through Portugal in. We show you all our secrets to fitting everything you need to live into a tiny home.
We start in the kitchen showing our sink, two burner gas stove, how we store all of our food, pots and pans and our "plumbing". We have utilized all the space creating clothes storage above the cab. We keep our knives on a magnetic knife rack above our nifty spice rack.
Unusually for a van we have a near full length mirror (which we fail to mention). The unique slide out bed was made with the help of this video ( • how to build a pull ou... ) I would highly recommend this channel to anyone converting a van.
Under the bed we have two 110Ah batteries fed by two solar panels (150w total), we seem to manage okay on this in sunny portugal. We have used victron products for most of our solar as they communicate to each other and are easy to use (via their app). Further along is the only real storage area; there we have an electric cool box and two plastic boxes holding the small amount of bric-a-brac we have. Behind these we also have a Thetford chemical toilet.
To make the most of the space we have we decided to store our shoes in the large pockets in the cab, freeing up more space for activities around in the back.

Great video and great van conversion you've done there, really functional while not overly complicated, which is great to just get the job done and leave plenty of flexibility, rather than a full on build out everything fixed.
Love it! And I've just subscribed to follow your adventures! (As thinking of building out my own Van in the next year and travelling myself if i sell the house as single again so thought why not!!?) ...except I'm a bit older than you guys as in my early 40s, so not sure yet whether to take the plunge, especially being a single guy not sure it's the best move to meet a new young lady (as I'm sure having a house is a bit more attractive to most women, than a guy living in a van! Lol) unless obviously they share the dream or you are already together and both decide to do it together!! Lol..

But i got to tell you that the gas-alarm should be placed lower than your bed. It will never warn you before it is to late if you place it high :/
I thought it had to be placed high as carbon monoxide is lighter than air, hence will fill top down and needed to go as high as possible
@@LostInTransit yeah if its a smoke alarm okey :) i was thinking it was a gas-alarm for propan, because propan for your burner etc is heavyer than air, and will need to be placed lower than the bed :)
I love these videos but I literally couldn't live without TV so I would need a projector screen at least 😂 xx

We did a couple of really thin strips of ply, these were screwed directly into the back door. We then screwed the cladding into these strips
