  • Handling sexual desires
    1. An idle mind and laziness
David became lazy. When he had to go to the battleground, he stayed behind and sent Joab and his other servants.
When someone becomes lazy, they postpone things. David invited trouble by staying behind without going to the battlefield - 2 Samuel 11:1
How do you handle your alone time and times you are not busy? 2 Samuel 11:2-5
There is power in sight. You process in your mind what you see from your eyes.
The light of the body is the eye - Matthew 6:22&23
    2. Covering of the sin
David tried to sweep his sexual sin under the carpet by getting Uriah killed in battle - 2 Samuel 11:14-17
The intention of David’s heart was evil. The covering of all sexual sin has to be brought under the blood of Jesus.
    3. Destruction of a family
    2 Samuel 11:26&27
God wasn’t pleased with what David had done:
“But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord”.
David did something he thought would recompense his error. He brought Bathsheba to him and made her his wife but God was not happy with what He had done. Man’s ways are not God’s ways.
    4. David’s self righteousness
When God confronted David through Nathan the prophet, David became self righteous.
His self righteousness made him find himself in condemnation - 2 Samuel 12:1-5
David was ready to judge someone else when he was at fault. Examine yourself first - 2 Corinthians 13:5
    5. Repercussions of mishandled sexual desires
Opening of doors for the demonic world to intervene in your life - 2 Samuel 12:13&14
    Proverbs 6:27-29
    Can a man take fire to his bosom, And his clothes not be burned? Can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be seared? So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife;
The death of David’s first son - 2 Samuel 12:15-19
    Starting generational curses:
Amnon, David’s son had sex with his half-sister Tamar by forcing her - 2 Samuel 13:1-14
    The turnaround of David:
    6. Consecration
    2 Samuel 12:20
So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped.
    7. Restoration
    God blessed David with Solomon
    2 Samuel 12:24&25
Then David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. So she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Now the Lord loved him, 25 and He sent word by the hand of Nathan the prophet: So he called his name Jedidiah, because of the Lord.
