@@carolynpicken6949 It depends, of course, on how much you use it. I would make cards at least 3X a week and it lasted for over 6 weeks. Then I put on a new one. The Contact paper is pretty sticky at first so I rubbed my hand on it to take down some of the stick.

And, of course, Waffle Flower is coming out with a bunch of photopolymer sticky mats in different sizes to fit the different sizes of Mistis and their stencil mats. They're also creating some grid mats to use with the sticky mats to help with alignment. I'm not sure when the official release date is for those, but they'd be less expensive than buying the full Stampwheel.
But another use for the Stampwheel is being able to set up layering stamps or just multiple stamps for a card in different quadrants and on both sides. Useful for those who like to mass produce cards. You put the card in one corner, line up a stamp, then move to another corner and line up another stamp. You can line up to 8 stamps that way by using both sides of the wheel.

@donnaokoniewski3 : My Sweet Petunia, designers and maker of the MISTIE, sued the knock-offs and copiers of her Mistie design. It makes total sense when you think about it. They had to make and design prototypes, take manufacture them in low enough quantities until the product caught on. Coming up with your own design and idea and making it is very expensive in the United States. Designers put in a lot of hard work and frown upon people copying their designs. Hence, lawsuits! That’s what the poster to your post was referring to and did not want you to get into trouble. Hope this helps!

I think the Altenew Stamp Wheel is awesome; my mom purchased it. I myself already had Gina K’s wreath builder stencil, so I chose the Scrapbooking Mistie which is 12 x 12. I can do everything the stamp wheel does and also stamp on 12 x 12 scrapbook pages. I use my Gellie plate as my holder for card stock when I am stenciling card fronts. I just put it in the corner of my 12 x 12 Mistie ! I feel I have the best of both worlds! This was a great video, thanks!❤

Thank you for your thorough explanation. I ended up purchasing the Waffle flower grip mats and also a large grip mat from another company. The advantage to the large one is that you put your inks on it and they don't shift around. I mostly use my 6X6 for stenciling though. It's just a handy size. I also keep the grip mat sized for Misti in my Misti all the time now. No more tape and no more shifting.

    • @marypolancodesigns

Pulling the grid off the Altenew Stampwheel mat seems such a pity ... I'm sure I saw people using it with the grid on and under the mat.
And here's one other thing: When new products - "game changers" - come out, I always do a general search, either via google or on the website of one or more of those Asian platforms. Not because I want to buy a piracy copy, but because the blending brushes have definitely taught me that crafting items were not necessarily "born" as crafting items! In the case of sticky mats, I found some mats for the car that are supposed to stop small items or even mobiles from sliding around. Now those are smallish, but work great for most of my card panels. Mine is a little over 10.5"x5 3/4". It is the stickiest thing since chewing gum under a desk, but without the hassle of getting it off. I think I paid the whooping amount of 3 Euros for it. And I'm totally in love with it!
It's a good idea to put the protective covers back on after use so you don't have to wash (and dry ... tick tock tick tock ...) it too often.

      @marypolancodesigns  Před 11 měsíci +1

The ONLY reason I would even consider the stamping wheel is for multi-step layering stamps. I tried the $ Tree sticky mat and it works pretty well, but I don't think the sticky lasted as long as I would've liked. Then I started to do the math and realized it was a better deal to get a pack of 3 12x12 Nicapa mats from Amazon and cut them down to fit my stamp positioner. I've also been using an old unbranded Silpat kind of mat for ink blending and smooshing. I think I got it on clearance at Walmart for $3. It holds my ink pads in place, too, which is a nice bonus. I use my Tim Holtz grip mats for lots of different things: inside my stamping platforms to hold the paper without worrying that the paper will stick; under items I'm using on my glass mat (ink pads, other sticky mats) so they don't shift, for stenciling, mixed media projects. I cut them to fit the task - stamp positioner size, card stock size, stencil size, ink pad size, whatever it is I want to stay in place without using adhesive. So far the only issue I can see is they MUST be kept clean so if you have issues with animal hair or excessive dust, you need to wash them to maintain their grip. I have six so far. It may be enough for now.

You have to remove the photopolymer mat to use it with red rubber stamps. Maybe stick the red rubber stamp in the platform and tape your cardstock to the wheel? On the Altenew site, they said you may have to press a little harder to make up any difference in height.

@@navoff1 wonder if a piece of craft foam would work after taking the photopolymer mat out?

I would love to get the Stampwheel but the 💰 is too much!

Stamp wheel is way overpriced as is a lot of Altenew products. TH grip mat is nothing more than the silicone mats you can buy for hot gluing. Cut it up to whatever size you want. It holds ink pads in place but doesn’t hold cardstock all that well for stenciling.

It's really good to use discernment when trying to find products for our room so this is very true.

Is the mat on the wheel like a gelli plate?

A Gelli plate is softer and not as sticky. They are not interchangeable, from what I have seen elsewhere on CZcams.

Let's face it, sticky mats are helpful, but we REALLY don't need them. Call me a party pooper, but I have torn cardstock on a sticky mat.

Facts...I can name about 42 things I don't need in my craft space...but I do love them. lol
