Patience, I hope you like the video :))
In the historical context preceding the liberalization of international rail services, the structure of passenger connections along the Frejus axis was defined in 1996 with an agreement between FS and SNCF which provided for the joint marketing of these services by a European Group of Economic Interest (EEIG) called Artesia. Instead of the ordinary material traditionally used, the use of a mixed fleet of multi-voltage electric trains made up of five TGVs and three ETR 460 "Pendolino" specially equipped for such services was widespread.
The appearance on the market of potentially competing private entities and above all the possibility of individual historical national operators to perform the services in self-production and competition led SNCF and Trenitalia, which in the meantime took over from the FS, to implement a different policy of prelude alliances. to carry out some services on their own.
After the equipping of the dedicated vehicle fleet for circulation on the Italian network with the adoption of the Train Speed Control System (SCMT) in December 2011, the international passenger services on the Frejus line were formally taken over by the new Italian Company.
From 11 December of that year, the timetable was therefore reshaped with three pairs of TGV attested in Milan Porta Garibaldi, where a special personal ticket office for cars and travelers in Italy employed by SVI is set up. The equipping of these trains with the Italian safety systems and the poor reliability shown by the ETR 460s had previously led to an overall decrease in the offer and, between 2009 and 2011, the partial unavailability of the same TGVs, with the return of some services to ordinary material.
To carry out the Italy-France services, the subgroup of TGV "Reseau" electric trains numbered 4501-4505 is used, specially equipped for operation on the Italian network but equipped with SCMT only, therefore not able to travel the Turin high-speed line -Milan.
