Great list, Denis! I hope I’m not being too bold as to recommend the most approachable and practical book on this topic that I have found… Published in 2017, “The Witching Herbs: 13 Essential Plants and Herbs for Your Magical Garden” by Harold Roth was published by Weiser Books. It was because of this work that I’ve felt more confident in expanding my witchery garden: specifically growing nightshades. There is no pretentiousness (like some may find with Schulke). It is a book that I pull out annually to refer to and refresh growing techniques of these 13 powerful plants. Corinne Boyer’s publications may also be very beneficial for students on this path. 🌱
I’m no herbalist, or plant expert, not even a green witch, and neither do I recommend this to anyone without them first either consulting their doctor or taking it at their own risk of any sort. But valerian root really helps with anxiety and sleep. It’s not an uncommon, or entirely taboo thing I know, you can find it in boots without needing to go behind the counter for it. But it does work when I really need it. For me at least.
Hehe! yeah, i feel your pain, George! The eternal pain of the esoteric book collector. The books keep coming, but sometimes you have to be able to take a time out! I hope the broke situation resolves quickly! Best wishes to you!
Thank you so much for this video. I recently got the Poison Path Herbal and this list you gave points me in the right direction to help me more. I appreciate your reviews so much!
I picked up occult botany for my birthday after seeing it in one of your previous news videos, great to see some more recommendations from you on this topic, big fan, keep up the great work 👍
So this is very much my thing, a real passion of mine. By in large I love most of these, especially the Daniel shulke and verdant gnosis stuff as well as occult botany. I do have to reiterate however that the coby Michael is a sketchy guy and his book DEFINITELY should not be recommended for beginners imo as it's endorsing working with potentially very dangerous substances that take years to get a handle on not to mention its full of plagiarized and incorrect material. Of course do what you like I but I do (obviously) feel it would be irresponsible to not say anything.🤷♂️
I really appreciated this list. I have a couple of these but am always looking to increase knowledge in this area. I’m a gardener and plant enthusiast so this topic is near and dear to my heart. I’m hoping to somehow procure a copy of Mr. Shulke’s new one, which sold out in the preorder phase before I could secure a copy☹️. Maybe they’ll decide to print more. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
I've been modestly interested in taking advantage of herbalism in my practice, and was actually already thinking about picking up Coby Michael's book. Very pleased to see it here on the list, I feel more confident about buying it now, and to have some other recs to follow it with.
My wishlist just got longer. 😂 Thank you for this beautiful list of books. As always your videos are a delight too watch. Some books where already on my radar, but others where a nice surprise.
Thank you so much for watching, Suzanne, as well as for your kind words! Thank goodness for wishlists, eh? I dread to think what my monthly budget would look like if I didn't have the option to "stash for later" xD
@@FoolishFishBooks indeed! My wishlist has become pretty important over the years. It has grown a bit over big. I believe I have 999 books on my current list. I need a bigger house soon. XD Again thank you for your hard work. Your channel has been so inspiring. I've had a bit of a spiritual burnout but now I'm getting back into my spiritual side, your videos have inspired me to pick up new paths of interesting and wanting to get my hands dirty in all kind of new excitement things.
Fantastic recommendations, Denis! Thank you one more time! I was just about to ask if you know Dale Pendell's Pharmako trilogy, when I saw that you put the links to these books in the video description right below the links to the ones you comment on. In fact, it's one of the best things I've seen on the subject. I take the opportunity to ask about another book: Botanical Curses and Poisons by Fez Inkwright, do you know it? It is also about the “Poison Path” and 4/5 of the book is a catalog of plants in alphabetical order (with profuse drawing illustrations), telling various stories and describing plant properties.
Discovering the pharmako books was one of those moments that really blew my mind, a huge turning point for me. I'm surprised I've never seen anyone mention them before!
Have you read any of Dale Pendell’s Pharmako books? They focus on psychoactive plants going over everything from chemistry to folklore and religious use. Really entertaining read.
Witch stands for What is The Change. Starting with a question, and ending with a question , this historical origin is true to the point and enduring as long as the existence of question marks the psyche of mankind
I got the First one and i will definitely buy the others... In time. For now i must follow my playlist of purchase priorities. First celestial intelligences, IAO, born of blood and fire and so fkin on haahhaahhaha omg. I want your library!
Did you check the links in the description? If they're temporarily out of stock they won't be for long! It's possible that the Schulke books are only available in paperback, but it shouldn't take you long to track the hardcovers down, there are plenty of them around 😉

i have immense respect for herbalism, especially when there's alchemy and magick involved, so this is very much appreciated~!
So glad to be of service! :D
Love it! I've been on the "green path" for over 10 years while adding other elements to my practice ..Again LOVE the overview of books!
Thank you so much for the words of approval! Delighted to know you like the video!
Brilliant, thank you for this!!
Thank you so much for watching, @Quareia! I hope you find some good stuff here too!
I’m adding this to my playlist so I can go back and find the books again!
Just to note, I think I'd like to retract my recommendation of 'The Poison Path' at this point - the contents really isn't up to scratch. 😊🙏

What's your organization system? I'm so intrigued
Just what I needed Denis! Haha

Thanks for this, Alexander, i (and the whole community) definitely appreciate the heads up!
I definitely see where you’re coming from, Alexander (re: Coby & his work).
Perfect topic for summertime! :) I hadn't heard of the edited essay collection, that looks awesome and is for sure on my list now, thanks!!
Yet again I have just purchased yet another book that you have reviewed !! I do love it !!!!
I hope you enjoy it! :D

I've not read them but I've heard a lot of good!
(I've added links in the description)
Some of the best material on this subject around!
My fav books!

Awesome video! Interested as to why you listed the Pharmaco/ books, however they weren’t reviewed in your top ten?
Only because I don't own them.
a gentlemans flora is also very good and charming.
Thank you 😊😌
Thanks
Thank you so much, Richard! This is really very kind and deeply appreciated!
I wonder why Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopaedia of Magical Herb has same illustrations as in the Occult Botany🤔
Are there any books in the last year or so you would add to this list like Green Mysteries from Three Hands Press or similar tome?
It's a good example 😉
It’s unfortunate that several of these books are out of print and unavailable (at least on Amazon).
Did you check the links in the description? If they're temporarily out of stock they won't be for long!
It's possible that the Schulke books are only available in paperback, but it shouldn't take you long to track the hardcovers down, there are plenty of them around 😉
What's your favourite podcasts?
Glitch Bottle is actually the only one I consistently listen to. Thoth Hermes and Occult of Personality have done some good interviews too.
@@FoolishFishBooks thank you 🙏
@@London-Lad would never have thought to ask foolish fish this but I'm so glad you did!
Does this books 📚 really work???
Another great set of recommendations. 🪴
So glad you like them, @Andrew! :)
