    I lived in Orange park (just south of Jacksonville) from 1964-72. This was the zoo I grew up with, and I am very, VERY happy to say that it looks nothing like it did back then! How far we have come.
    Loved the tour. I am glad to see that they have been doing improvements even since the last time I was there a few years ago.

      Zoo's in general are 100% better than they we're back in the 60's and 70's. The small cages are gone with more natural habitats. It used to be focused on making sure visitors got the best view of the animals. Now it's more focused on the animals well being.

    Enjoyed the video, I think the Jacksonville Zoo made great use of their space and the landscaping there is just as amazing as the exhibits.

    My favorite part was the manatees. I live in texas and can’t see them in the wild or in the zoo. We went to the Jacksonville zoo yesterday and saw the manatees,they were huge and amazing. They look nothing like I’ve every seen,the big one looked like a rock, u could never describe these creatures to someone who hasn’t seen one without using a picture. The whole zoo was amazing but manatees were my favorite part.

      I've seen manatees in the wild several times. Depending on the season, you can see them and even swim with them. I'm glad you enjoyed the Jacksonville Zoo 😊

    Generally how long does it take to see the whole zoo?

    • @TomsRoadTrippin
      @TomsRoadTrippin  Před 3 lety

      It depends on how fast your pace is. It's not a huge zoo so around 3 hours should give you a chance to see everything. Busier days will require more time. I recommend you take your time to enjoy all the habitats and give yourself time to return to a habitat if you didn't see the animal the first time.
