Thx for the video. I had my left ALF ligament torn from a Rugby lesion. This was now 35 years ago. I underwent a surgical procedure called Watson surgery which (if I recall) uses a ligament of one not so important muscle in the calf to replace the ALF. Everything went pretty OK until around 5 years ago, when the joint started to loose flexibility, and pain started. Just wanted to share my experience on your Channel. Regards.

Thanks for your information it was useful and wonderful, 18 months ago I got inversion during a football match however I did an X-Ray but it didn't show anything and the doctor told me that it is not serious go and rest for a few days then slowly start your exercises again after rest I have done after rest when I started doing sport pain started again until it became worse.
I have referred back to doctor he told me to do MRI and the following is the result of MRI:
    1. Subchondral fracture of dome of talus bone with associated surrounding moderate edema.
    2. Mild free fluid in tibiotalar joint space.
    3. Sprain of anterior tibiotalar ligament.
since that time i have used different medicines under treatment of doctors the front pain is solved but still pain suffers me from the right side and back of ankle some them of doctors say that there is no need for surgery it will be ok in the feature but some says that it wouldn't be back to its normal situation and also no chances of surgical operation. And one thing to be mentioned that there is no instability of ankle I can walk even run but after the muscles becomes starts its pain looking forward for your kind instructions.

Sir it’s been over 1 year ago I twisted my ankle still having much pain,
Only to finally find out after an mri I have 2 ligaments damaged.
Is this surgery you speak of able to heal ligaments after such a long time?
    Thank you for your time.
    Happy Holidays

Hi. If the question is for me, I can tell you that the Watson surgery implies replacing the function of the ALF with a tendon. So, it does not heal your damaged ligaments...it replaces them (at least the ALF). As for the lapse of time since the injury: its no problem actually. I had my surgery after 8 or 10 years of continuous ankle twists, so it was kind of a last resource. At least 35 years ago, there should be, I guess, more modern ways to treat your condition nowadays. Best of luck, and kind regards.

Sir I don't know if I have the instability or not because I don't put too much pressure on that leg, but I do feel pain at a certain place while squatting. Also when I forgot I have the injury and use the leg equally it hurts. What should I do, it's not a sharp pain but it's only because I'm being careful with that.

just had ultrasound on my left ankle, " complete tear of anterior talofibular ligament with no fibres identified " ( this maybe long standing ) was the report
also mentioned is " plantar fasciitis " , thickened and slightly heterogeneous, 0.5mm further across than the right foot.
The last time i rolled this ankle badly was around September 19' , its now 3 mths later.
is surgery the best option now, and will it have any long term negative effects. flexibilty and stiffness had been mentioned as a possible long term effect, but would physio bring that back
    to normal ?

Finn that is correct, no opp, no physio, just all self healed over time.
It is now coming up to 10 mths as to when i last stuffed it, ( around oct 2019)
Been working til around July this year , and even with that i think i stopped having probs by around april / may 2020, as work had thinned out it sort of laid the pressure off, then covid meant no work at all.
Overall i think if i kept off it ( apart from just walking ) .. the thing wouldve self healed within 3-4 mths , but sadly i wasnt in a position to lay back a bit for that long

But even after 2 weeks of cast I still feel the swelling is still there and if I keep my leg down for too long it starts hurting again. Will this surgery get the swelling down?
