My golden retriever Ellie and I head up north to our family cabin for a couple days of work, relaxation, good food and simple living as we brave the first cold snap of the winter here in Minnesota! We add a few upgrades to the cabin, including an additional heater to help warm the bunkhouse.

About our Family Cabin: The original Steward Family Cabin was built in 1936 and has been a place where generations of Stewards have grown to love and cherish the outdoors. There have since been a few iterations of that cabin, and today this is our family's getaway in the Northwoods of Minnesota. This building was built in the 1980s as a bunkhouse for the main cabin and was later converted to be our full time cabin structure. Our cabins in northern Minnesota have been the inspiration for all of my Tiny Cabins.

I'm relieved to learn Ellie is healthy. I remember how worried you were about her. She is such a loving dog. The table is beautiful, what a great idea it was. The cabin is beautiful too. Yes, wood stoves put out lots of heat but it's good for open spaces only.

What a nice getaway for you and Ellie. Seeing that frozen lake brought back memories of ice skating up near my grandparents cabin. It's been a long time but I still can see and feel the frozen water under my feet in my mind. 😊

Maybe in a few years build an ice skating walker for Olivia to use until she is able to balance on her own. Those weren't around when I was growing up nor were they around when my daughter was learning. I kind of wish they were as my daughter was very spirited and would dash onto the rink before I could catch up. (She buckle fractured her wrist on one of the falls.) Just an idea. 😊@@TinyCabinLife

So nice seeing the upgrades to the family cabin. The heater in the bunkhouse will be wonderful for the entire family to stay warm. Loved seeing Ellie @2:14 jump up onto the deck without bothering to use the stairs. A good sign that she is back to being a healthy, strong and happy pup. Looking forward to more winter videos with the entire family. I know ice fishing through the hole you made in the trailer floor is probably my most anticipated future video. Owned 8 dogs in my life. Love(d) them all. Our female golden, Natty was hands down the best dog ever. Enjoyed all 13 years with her. You just simply can’t beat them.

Human food is Way better than dog food...js dry food was said to give my heeler cancer, so started feeding him human food , rice ,eggs, broccoli, sweet potato...he lived to 17!!

Certain human food is but nachos I would argue are not lol 😊
@@TinyCabinLife Something I do is cook some things separately, like the meat, put it on another plate, then cook the veggies. Unless it is broccoli, carrots, things dogs can have. Some spices are ok.. some hot peppers can give them diarrhea. Or the burrito seasonings can sometimes.
And sometimes, I just use a second skillet and cook their stuff separately.
Some people don’t want to waste time doing that, but really it isn’t wasting time. Not for me.
CZcams has some excellent videos on making dog food.
Needless to say, my dog loves my cooking! 😉

Hi Jack. I Always enjoy your videos and happy to see that your dog is ok. Also it's nice to see the improvements you make for the comfort of your little girl. One thing i notice about another improvement have to be done for Olivia: is to finish properly the ceiling by covering the insulating material exposed in the ceiling cause this is not good for allergies and dust and could cause skin irritating.
