I find it interesting that bin 2 looks like there is a lot going on. It is surprising the paper towels weren’t consumed but it looks like the were near the surface.
For me a key objective is to spend as little $$ as possible on raising my worms - so purchasing food for them, in my book at least , is completely out of the question :)
WOW What a massive amount or worms in both bins. Do you recall how many worms you started with? They certain look healthy. I got carried away on coffee grounds in 2 of my bins and they must have overheated. Went out of town and came back to worms on the floor. I didn’t loose many but it is a reminder about coffee grounds heating up. First time I have done that. Great video and thanks for sharing. You have been my go to guy ever since I started worm wrangling and have saved me from making lots of mistakes.
I'm glad that you've gotten some good info from my videos - and I'm sorry to hear about the worms that wound up exiting your bin & winding up on the floor. Poor wormies... With input from the viewers in the comments, we estimated the bins to have 2490 & 2707 worms in them when they were originally launched :) Thanks for watching!
AV- I have been trying to figure out how to use mosquito dunks, how much water should I use for 1 entire circle of mosquito dunk? I’d love to make that spray. Thanks❤
I went back to the manufacturer's website to refresh my memory on their usage recommendations (link at the end). A single 'dunk' is meant to treat a 100 square foot, or less, body of water - regardless of water depth - and is designed to gradually dissolve and keep things treated for at least 30 days. Since their 'bits' are smaller in size, those are good for only 2 weeks. My usage is somewhat different than what they intended. I prepare about a half bucket (approx 3 gallons) at a time by creating a sort of tea bag using an old sock with a quarter 'dunk'... and I assume that it is good for a couple weeks. I've seem on other worm channels where the stuff is ground up and applied dry to the worm bins. My guess is that you can probably adjust the usage instructions to suit your specific usage needs. Good luck with it! summitchemical.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/110-12-SPECIMEN_DUNKS.pdf
Since they make reference to the depth of the water being irrelevant, I assume that the surface of the water is where the most potent stuff is - so when I am filling my applicator bottle I take care to a) not mix up the batch, and b) allow the bottle to get filled mainly with fluid that is on the surface. Perhaps it makes no difference at all, but if you're planning to follow my approach, then I thought I would include those extra considerations in case it actually does have the most concentrated stuff floating out on the water's surface. Good luck with it!

Yeah... sometimes I like to gear the dialog to be easily understood by people who might be newcomers to worm farming :)

Great to hear that you plan to start again 👍🏻

I suspect that the paper towel is in a better place now - probably much more likely to make some progress 👍🏻
BTW. Purina does make worm chow! It is more $ than dog food. Weird huh?
