If dispatchers knew the law and were trained to ask questions properly, the cops would have even less to do than the current situation, where already they frequently have 6 or 8 cops available to show up for a guy with a camera.

That woman who got angry b/c her house was recorded should be aware that it's legal to record 'private property' while standing on public property. I know a guy who used to take photos of houses (foreclosures). People would constantly confront him or call the police b/c their feelings got hurt. The cops NEVER arrested or cited the photographer for taking photos of people's houses.
I wonder if that person realizes that her house shows up on Google maps.
Foreclosure is touchy, especially for those of us who are truly Americans, who DON'T assume the worst of every stranger, who KNOW our neighbors and generally care about the health of people in our neighborhoods. Foreclosure is a failed dream, people are conditioned to NEVER ask for help with the Boomer "Victim" haters these days... Now, people calling the cops for dumb crap usually ARE the type who DON'T know their neighbors - who DO assume the worst... But yeah just to say that "Foreclosure" doesn't mean that bad people lived there, and when they happen so often it's a symptom of a problem.

The whole 911 system needs to be COMPLETELY reformed. Take this video as an example...
Someone calls 911 to make a false report on a man. The officer arrives on scene and doesnt even contact or verify who is the calling party. Officer proceeds to go beyond their duties and go talk to the Post Office. Officer leaves without even consulting with the calling party.
it wasn't a false report, it just wasnt a call that needed to be responded to, either the dispatcher should of stopped it there, or the officer should of responded that it wasnt a crime.
This is typical of officer response to calls. They go immediately to the "suspect" and start giving orders without even talking to the calling party. I have seen a lot of audits where the calling party straight up lied to the police and nothing was done about them lying, and lying on a police report is against the law, but cops never check the caller's facts. We see this with people claiming trespass all the time, when the auditors have never stepped foot on their property.
Agreed 1000%! First the employees need to know the laws of photography especially if they work for the government.

That’s because he was being creepy videotaping her little girls playing in their yard. He didn’t want that part to be in his video, because that doesn’t play to his narrative for you. It may be legal but it doesn’t always make it a great idea. Should dispatch let the caller know that it’s not illegal to photograph from public property? Sure. But it would also be nice to respect people who ask you not to act weird and videotape their kids.
