In the U.S., police are upping their presence, arresting protesters and dismantling encampments as House Speaker Mike Johnson calls on President Biden to send in the National Guard. Neetu Garcha has the latest on the ever-expanding campus protests in tonight’s top story.
Up north, Canadian consumers fed up with the high cost of groceries are gearing up to send a message with their wallets. A planned boycott of Loblaw and its affiliated stores is gaining traction, while a petition calling for an investigation into the company for alleged profiteering is nearing 100,000 signatures. Abigail Bimman reports on the frustration and the planned action.

Canada runs on oil. The Carbon tax and endless money printing increases the cost of diesel and therefore food.

I find the highest impact in late , the stagnation of our Lake due to the increase of algae blooms form run off from lawn fertilizers to keep that perfect Cottage grass.
Proper cleaning of boat and trailers should always be at practice but transferring between lakes and water systems.

People need to understand, most of the inflation is due to irresponsible government spending. For sure, oligopolies has an effect as well. But, year after year of reckless spending and bad fiscal and monetary policy is mostly to blame. A federal government announcement that it will give as much as $12 million to help Loblaw Companies Ltd, to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions is creating a backlash online.
The announcement sparked an uproar on social media, with commenters expressing frustration about Ottawa handing out money to a large, profitable corporation. Opposition politicians also took to the internet to call out the federal Liberals for their subsidy.
The federal government announced on Monday it will provide up to $12 million to help the grocery chain convert refrigeration systems in about 370 stores. The money will come from the government’s Low Carbon Economy Fund and is expected to help the company cut its carbon footprint by about 23 per cent.
Loblaw reported a profit of $754 million attributable to common shareholders in 2018, and is backed by some of Canada’s wealthiest people. The company’s largest shareholder is Galen Weston, whose has an estimated net worth of US$7.4 billion.
