I know this is way later but me and my coop partner can confirm the skip in the first room works one player needs to be in the little room with the 3 light trick while the other needs to be doing the television location cause it allows you both to cover the spawning locations allowing the despawn to happen
My LASO partner and I are attempting Gravemind next week, this guide is the help we needed. Can confirm that we had no luck with the despawn at the start in co-op when we practiced last night.
This prison skip drove me crazy. And even if I prefer to do it normally, I couldn't figure out how to get down without dying as we land in co-op since enemies see us before. Apparently in PC you have to do a world record spamming cuz trying to carefully smash button in order was too slow, but it took me 3 hours to do it with a total of 7 hours for the whole mission.
Yeah we were also going to try to attempt it normally but, as you said, every time we went down, the enemies would already be shooting/throwing grenades. It’s a terrible section! 7 hours isn’t terrible at least it’s done now!
@@IVGamin I think it's because of the brutes that are on the floor below that see you descend into the elevator then alert the guards in the prison, maybe? and you can actually kill some of them when peeking near the hole but it's impossible to pick them all so you need to do that elevator skip. After so many attempt and killing the brute that follow me in the elevator I figured I was too slow at melee cancel so I tried to practice melee cancel on my co-op buddy, then was able to do the trick after. 7 hours wasn't too bad when looking at other people attempt actually yeah lol. Took the same time on Cairo station after realizing we needed Johnson after all (He did say "That or he can hide behind me." after the tutorial lol)
The GF and I are down to the last 7 Achievements in the MCC and you guys have absolutely carried our LASO runs.

I am not looking forward to this level when me and my friend get to the Halo 2 LASO after finish the Halo 1 LASO.
