  • Meet Niki Jabbour. She’s the real year-round vegetable gardener. She easily earned that badge of honor by actually doing it from one of the most unlikely of places, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The first frost of the year shows up about mid-October, and the last is typically mid-May. Niki harvests fresh produce from her garden 365 days a year. We invite you to meet Niki and get a behind-the-scenes look into many of the tips and techniques Niki uses to grow her year-round vegetable garden.

Helping gardener's grow... it's what Niki does on her own and now with Joe's help. Good job guys. Love that we are all working on this amazing pursuit - congrats

Niki is a great example that anything is possible. She didn't let the climate she lives in stop her. I have her book "The Year-Round Gardener" and it should be on every food growers bookshelf. Love her hoop house! Greetings from Victoria, BC, Canada 🇨🇦

I am huge fan of Nikki Jabour! I live in Owen Sound ON and the wind can be a huge issue in the winter, but I hope to have a small hoop-house soon! Thanks Nikki! And Joe

Yay, thanks Joe for doing a video/show from Nova Scotia!!! I’m in the neighbourhood and you’ve introduced me to such an amazing gardener so close by and in the same zone. We just started our vegie/fruit and flier gardens this year and I think this is going to be so helpful!!! God bless, from Fall River

I started my first vegetable garden last year. I got a late start and it didn’t do as well as I hoped! I’ve got most of my fall/winter crops in now and it’s doing better. Just gotta keep trying new and different things! I live just north of you in Cumming, Joe, so I can identify with the challenges of growing in the Deep South! If you ever do a tour of your garden sign me up!! I am thankful for your show-keep up the good work!! And happy thanksgiving 🥧🍗🍁🍂

Ground cherries! They really are a great crop to grow, and so so easy.

Great to see Canada so well represented on GGW! Wonderful garden! Had raised beds growing in Edmonton where earlier warming, and better drainage was a huge deal. I'm in love with this Nova Scotia gardening... harvesting arugula, mustard greens, kale and Italian parsley into December, along with carrots, beets and spinach. Nothing better for a winter stew. ❤️

Wow, what motivation to be diligent about a fall/winter garden. Your zinnias are just gorgeous.
