Adam Levine Helped Gwen Stefani Pronounce Colbert
/ fallontonight
I love Adam's voice, singing or talking. He has a nice, happy sounding voice
I feel like Jimmy Fallon has single-handedly made Late Night TV relevant again.
Honestly, after a decade of Leno and Letterman I almost forgot how terrible it all was.
And then this show.
Here's what they're doing right:
1. The show's about guests, not about Jimmy.
2. That being said, Jimmy is cast perfectly.
a. He's young.
b. He is a likable, personable fellow who we can relate to.
c. He's not a caricature.
d. He's the type of guy most other guys would want a friendship with
3. The show is very personal. Instead of some contrived shallow back-and-forth, Jimmy
and his guests play games and talk about their lives. I think this is actually a unique
experience for the viewer: a chance to see these celebrities more as real people
than as distant super stars.
PREACH
You are on point :)
I agree with a lot of your points! However, I would add that producers like Lorne Michaels deserve a lot of credit too. If you go back and watch some early episodes of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, everyone was still trying to figure out what the show was supposed to be. They knew they wanted to be relevant and younger, but some parts where still kind of rusty. What eventually happened is that they realized over time that Jimmy's strength is that he's literally up for *anything*, so make *that* the highlight of the show.
Think about it: if someone pitched an idea of doing the musical impressions bit that they just did with Adam Levine, the average person would think, "Gosh, that's risky. Come up with the melody the spot? What if it comes across as "cringe-y"? But for whatever reason, Jimmy's gift is his "Sounds fun, let's do it!" attitude toward life.
The Roots deserve a lot of credit as well. One of the first successful reoccurring bits was the "Slow Jam the News" (they did it on the 1st episode of Late Night). Also, they're so talented that it gave major street-cred to Jimmy's show and made booking of up-and-coming musicians possible (Mackelmore performed "Thrift Shop" on Late Night about 2 months before it hit #1).
laughstrong
Hey, thanks for that extra info!
I'll just clarify that by "Jimmy Fallon" I really meant the show as a whole. There are clearly many players at work there with their heads screwed on straight.
He is so preciooooooooous , his laugh is the cutest thang ever!!! What a perfect creature...luv luv Adam!
akoual mou
Can we just take a second to acknowledge how brilliant 1:08 was?
The cold bear report is pretty good ;).
Ahaha that joke with his album cover was so subtle! Props Jimmy XD
My God he is gorgeous.
Adam is soo great
Sometimes I wonder of Jimmy would prefer to have himself as a guest.
Now that you mention it, that would make for a great skit!
THIS
+Runs With Scissors And then he should play Truth or Truth with himself
+Runs With Scissors HONESTLY
I really want to read that book again now... it was amazing.
Hahahahaha did Jimmy make a fucking greater than sign out of the album cover!? Ahahahahaha please tell me he meant that
it is quite obvious he did mean it
That was so slick.
It's LESS THAN actually. :)
His laugh is amazing ❤️
cutie sexiest man alive 😍😍😍💕
"Thank you sir" *sigh* could he get more perfect??!!
I really enjoyed the whisper part to Jimmy at the Emmy's. That was pretty funny and cute.
Surprised this wasn't cut into 8 videos
Omg XD did nobody catch the way jimmy held his album at 1:11 haha it's like a less than sign! Haha well played Mr. Fallon.
The cold bear thing is actually really smart. If you say Stephen Coldbear it almost sounds just like Stephen Colbert.
Sophie K and still Gwen says his name wrong.
Adam < Jimmy
I am not saying this is true. If you don't get it, re-watch the video.
+Tom Booth Lol. I think it went over a lot of people's heads. Perhaps they all failed math class. ;-)
1:10 so smooth jimmy LOL!!
"that's not true" haha!!
I always think that Questlove is so cute:) hahaha
I love jimmy soooo much he's my hero
It was clever how Jimmy held the album up to show that Adam Levine < The Roots! XD
Maroon 5 has done well for itself. That band had that Harder to Breath song like almost 10 years ago. That's hard work staying relevant that long.
+dahalofreeek Their first album came out in 2002! I agree, staying relevant for 13, almost 14 years is very very difficult, not to mention they've had a reburst of fame in the past couple years
They are both awesome!!!
JIMMY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! MY WHOLE FAMILY WATCHED YOU ON SNL!!! And P.S watched you ruin every skit with your laughing XDD
i love Adam & his happy positive personality!
Adam Levine! I like this name.. and he's great singer.
ADAM LEVINE!!! I LOVE HIM!!
Hahaha jimmy is so funny
I LOVE YOU ADAM!!!!
I ❤ Adam's laugh !!!
coal bear would have been better
Adam Levine... ohhhh!
Love his laugh at (1:11)
LA taught me a lot about people. We are all living in the gulf between who we are and who we want to be. And while it's easy to romanticize Los Angeles, from the inside, you often have to watch it commodify and degrade artists...or watch them degrade themselves for it, even those who ''succeed'' in it's industry media machine.
Aww makes me love Gwen even more :)
hahaha .. jimmy is giving him the finger at 1:07 behind the album cover !!!!
Adam Levine is so handsome with his black hair!
I love Adam and Maroon 5!!!!!!
Go Adaaammmm!!!!!. Te quiero mucho.
MY FANTASY IS TO BE IN A MANWICH BETWEEN THESE TWO!!!!!
Stephen Colbert family name is pronounced koʊlbərt. He changed the pronunciation later in life when he went to college to reinvent himself.
To be honest, I think The Colbert Report should have won, and it did. But then again, The Colbert Report is the only show even worth comparing to Jimmy Fallon, it was really close for me.
LOL Jimmy, I caught the greater sign
Xcellent as always
👍
When will they ever stop referring to wives as "your beautiful wife" in the media... It's always the ONE adjective used to described wives and girlfriends... Annoys me. People don't go telling female artists "your beautiful husband", that would seem almost degrading for the husband.
His wife´s a model though. So it makes sense why he would say beautiful.
axelle32 STOP BEING SO SENSIBLE!! it's a compliment, take it
+axelle32 Okay, what about "your ugly wife"? That sound better? Didn't think so. Stop being sensitive.
+axelle32 Well said and well done for being "sensible"! (I try to avoid commenting but I had to this time - almost all the other replies you got were so idiotic.)
+axelle32 In my mind "beautiful" has a connotation that doesn't only surround looks. It's a sweet connotation, like saying that they're good people to be around. "Handsome" doesn't have that same connotation. Again, this is just how I interpret the word, but I believe it has a different connotation than you do.
Oh babe!! ADAM
Maybe Adam should've just said the name
Rice wine🤣🤣🤣 Snow White! Ifukwim!
Ahh I really wanna meet him!
I love Adam ! :)
“ controversy “ LMFAOOOO
Trying to use maths jokes to get one up on Adam Levine.....
Adam is not less than Jimmy! lol
Im gonna be in a skit for Jimmy Fallon :) no joke you may see it in a few days because the filming will be on friday
wow my hero 0-0
was here before 90,000 views!
Lol ironically Gwen pronounced Fallon Wrong too XD
They did just fine.
Love you Adam.
You are the Best. I pray to see your show when you come to Chicago ill. xoxoxo
Adam Levine looks like he could be Christy Mack's brother
Adam is so hot *-*
Jimmy has a crush on Adam and Blake
I spy Adam's wedding band
five album😍
God he is sooo hot!
Very good from one Levene to another LevineJoyce Maric (nee Levene)
funny cause now late night is colbert vs fallon
they don't play that game though :)
1:10 Adam Levine is less than Jimmy Fallon!
That time she’s pronouncing it correctly
So he has A.D.D. Acne and drinks liquor in music videos!!! Niccce
Did anyone noticed that Adam got more tattoo on his right arm? And, what more he is wearing his ring on? WOW, not used to see that. LOL
pmg1180 normally you would wear your wedding ring on your left arm and it looks like it was on his left arm not right arm.
controversy
Wow, Jimmy was actually funny at 1:10...
Herro
Lindo, lindo, lindo
ContrAversy....
Adam help me
Oh Christ! Religion or not Jims Impersonation of Bruce Springsteen did not convince you? I Don't know Jim. This guys out of the box. Respect. Just a nobody with a comment. Enjoy.
His voice sounds a little bit like shawn mendes 😍
his speaking voice or his singing voice sounds like Shawn Mendes?
Adam got more tattoos~
I love you sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (dark voice) XD LOL
couldn't Adam just announce the name
yeah thats what i said cause that probably would've made the most sense, but its stupid how she still said it wrong when Adam was trying to help her pronounce it.
At least she did'nt say adele dazeem.
HAHAH good one.
is that how we say Controversy ?
Ok, where's the clip to what they're talking about?
Sierra Jones if you just type Gwen Stefani flubs Stephen Colbert's name on CZcams it should come up at the Emmys when it happened
How has this Jimmy Fallon got his own show? He is neither funny nor intelligent and he can't even tell a joke! Children and people with brains like children might like his childish behaviour though! Letterman, Jon Stewart and Bill Maher are real talk show hosts and comedians with edge and brains!
I know you're not really asking the question because you actually want an answer, but I'll put forward an answer anyway.
First, I'll start off by agreeing with some of what you said. Letterman, Stewart, and Maher are *brilliantly smart*. They have gifted intellects, and it reflects in their interviews with guests. Their humor is also very witty and clever.
So why did Jimmy Fallon get so popular? I would argue it's an example of disruptive innovation.
Over time, the interview portion of the late night talk show became the part where the guest comes out to promote their film/book/album/etc. Because most hosts were very smart guys, they made sure that the interview touched on some quick humorous anecdote, but then ultimately revolved around the promotion. This is perceived as routine and stale by younger generations.
Jimmy's talent is not comedic wit. Remember, his experience on SNL was not as a writer, but as the *performer*. So, when he tried to do the regular "late night talk show" interviews on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, they didn't go well. He's very hyper and excitable, and that energetic demeanor does not lend itself well to an interview which has a goal of transmitting information to an audience.
However, what people soon realized is that Jimmy's strength is his "I'm open to anything" attitude, and it translates *perfectly* to the new medium that emerged at the same time: the internet.
Face it: the younger generations don't *watch* late night on television. They watch *clips* online the next day. If your entire interview with an actor is just a conversation, that does not generate "clicks" online the next day.
But let's say the host decides to sing karaoke with a guest? Or does a practiced dance routine with a famous actor? That is exactly *why* Jimmy has become so popular. He has become the one product on the market that pleasantly *surprises* the consumer, and his content can be cut into clips short enough to take advantage of "virality" on the internet.
Agree? Disagree?
Hater... 😑😑😑
laughstrong I'm sorry that you wasted you energy trying to give an answer to Rasrasify. He or she comments on every single Jimmy Fallon video on youtube. It is really weird ! And this exact same comment, every single time ! Unbelievable. Anyways : I think people who judge the "intelligence" of public personalities by their TV appearances are funny. I love Jimmy
Don't forget Craig Ferguson! Craig's so underrated, but the man is so intelligent. He constantly invites AUTHORS on his show. Not just celebrities!
laughstrong AGREEEE!
what's up with the bad editing
It was the dumbest fucking thing that night lol If you couldn't pronounce Colbert you should've just let Levine announce the winner.
Layla yeah I know I said the same thing because that was such an embarrassment how she mispronounced Colbert’s name on national television when Adam said before the show to “think Cold Bear.”
😂😂😁😄
Jimmy Fallon > Adam Levine
👍👏👏👏
wohhooo
Was here before 1000 views
You and 998 other people
yeah except for the millions that watched it on TV
what bit are they talking about?
On the Emmys, when Stephen Colbert was getting up to receive his reward, so did Jimmy Fallon.
Nex Soft yeah and then Gwen said Stephen Colbert's name wrong
It's funny how Adam thinks he knows how to pronounce "Colbert", but he actually doesn't hahah...that is not how you pronounce it.
GAHAHA
Adam Levine has the biggest ego in the music industry
he might dress the part. But he's far from charming.
I hate jimmy but that thing with the album was funny
yeah i'm kinda getting anti Jimmy too cause ever since he rubbed Trump's head.
It
