As a sound engineer there are obviously much better more expensive choices as the more neutral the sound for me, the better. However, consumer grade headphones like the Soundcore Q30s will appeal to a lot of people due to the pricing and the exciting sound.
I myself have tried many different headphones, I own a few bluetooth headphones including the Q30s and the Sony WH1000MX5s.
Without trying to get too technical I think this video got it spot on. To my ears the WH1000MX5s strike a nice balance between exciting and a neutral sound which brings forth a nicer soundstage. However, as an example, my son loves the Q30s due to the nice bass and the exciting sounds. He loves his bass driven music including dubstep, dance and hip hop, therefore these headphones out of the box produce a very pleasing sound. However, as soon as you listen to a genre like for example death metal, the requirement for soundstage and separation means these Q30s become muddy and just not good enough. With an EQ change you can remedy it somehow but the XM5s do provide plenty of it and do make more instrumental complex music sound better to my ears.
However, the fact that Soundcore provides a decent consumer grade EQ within their app means you can remedy most of those issues and for £79.99 I think this is definitely worth the money. I think the value and what they bring can't even be beaten by the superior XM5s.

I've had my ankers for a good 6 months now and I think they are mostly great. Only complaint I would have is that the audio bleed is not very good, so everyone else can hear what you are listening to.

I have Soundcore Q30 and music is smoothe and rich, love them...have xm4 and Bose 700 too, but prefer Anker for equaliser presets

I just don’t get the point about ANC headphones in the first place… I mean, do they help play better quality music, or are they just noise cancelling? Is it even legal wearing them while walking in public being completely unaware of traffic and what’s going on around you?

AFAIK they were developed to reduce airplane noise for long flight use. I use mine in a factory and it means I can have the music volume much lower so saving my earholes..
