Subban outed himself so nakedly a while ago. In offering "expert" commentary on an Oilers game he was supposed to have watched, he so obviously fell back on a super-stale take because he clearly had not even watched the game. What a phoney. Credibility level: 0.
PK is right. The Oilers are starting to get that cocky confidence that the Gretzky Oilers had. "We are the best" and "We have the best player in the world" was their attitude and they loved to prove it. But let's not forget that the Gretzky Oilers also lost their first Stanley finals against the Islanders, when they got beat in the first four games. Oilers were totally crushed but then came back the following year to win Stanley, and become one of the NHL's great dynasties. This Connor McDavid team is starting to look like history is repeating itself.

what are you talking about? Cocky? Maurice and the Panthers are the cocky ones. Tell me, if you coached a team and were up 3 to 0, and in the clinching game lost 8 to 1, would you be joking around with the media? Would you be setting up play dates in the (assuming here) one of the hottest nightclubs in Miami Beach with Jaylen whathisname with the Celtics?
I guarantee you 1000% that even tomorrow night the Oilers have made no such reservations. They are focused on one thing and one thing only - the NEXT game, just like they've been since the playoffs started. That's how they made the playoffs to begin with. You know there 26 points behind the red-hot Canucks at the end of November? They finished only 4 points back of them, without the Canucks going on a massive losing streak.
Believe what you will - but mark my words, Oilers are focused on the game only, and have been, and that is the only way you can come back from 3 to 0 down. Panthers are exhausted and have no answers. One of three things will happen on Monday night - Florida wins a close one (maybe even overtime but I give edge to Oilers if it goes to OT), Oilers win a close one in regulation or OT - or - my biggest fear - the Oilers BLOW THE DOORS off the Panthers and well would be great for us but terrible for hockey and the legacy of this series. And no way, no how can the Panther blow out the Oilers, they do not have the troops for it, nor the energy, and if they got an early lead they will play shut down as they know if they try to add to their lead that would play into the Oilers hands who would be trying to open the game, and the Panthers cannot compete in a track meet, that's been proven

Confidence, will power, conviction, or maybe it's simply "belief". Call it what you will, it's a psychological phenomena that has real world impact.

Ppl talk like every time a goal is scored "momentum" has made a big shift 🙄. And overconfidence is just as harmful. So athletes are basically trying to stay composed/in the zone, not ride wild swings of confidence. Sports psychologists of the individual players likley dont know there has been any kind of shift, yet announcers and fans assess it constantly
