I miss seeing “Lonnie’s Losers”! It was like going back in time to see old inventory!

I miss Lonnie’s Losers. It was nice having some more variety in the videos.

When my great grandma passed in the 90s, we realized that she had been paying rent on her old bakelite phone, for over 40 years. Maybe over 50 years. In the 90s she was paying $8 a month. Not sure where it started, but they did want it back or for us to pay like $300 to keep it. I did talk to a supervisor and they said we didn't have to send it back. How crazy is that!?

Love those old phones and anything old. Many items still working from the 1800s. The old lamps (hurricane lamps) are so pretty.

Shoes and purses are notorious for dry rot damage…especially if they’ve been stored in the heat. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!

Love that phone! Great job cleaning it!!! One tip, when listing anything from the 50s or 60s use mid-century, MCM, mid century modern as a keywords.

Growing up, my parents had the entire black Bakelite phone just like that so cool. I used it as a kid until we got the digital one with the voice recorder.

Shoe Test: Dansko are especially susceptible to age sole splitting under stress testing. Years back, when my wife retired from the local Med Clinic, she decided to sell all her scrubs and a spare pair of Dansko slip in shoes. They were New/Old stock still in the box. I pulled them out, during photography and subjected them to the test (because I’d seen the issue on CZcams videos before) and they failed, splitting right across the sole. 😉

Grungy Fry Shoes are like “Factory Distressed” jeans. Neither make sense to me. But then I do know construction workers never want to show up on their first job site with either new looking work boots or a new tool belt. Either makes your rookie status stand out, so they will intentionally distress them before turning up for work. 🙃😉🙃

I bought 100 pairs of USMC Combat boots and I definitely checked about 10 of them randomly. They were all new in the box old stock from 2011. They were all fine but definitely new old stock dry rot much easier.

  • @HerculeanPickersCollecto-ep1vp

Yall are totally right, same applies to boots. I bought some Harley Davidson boots a while back, one of the soles just fell apart when i got home. Out $20. Always check, great video

Auctions: you can clear old inventory all year long, by sending items to auction, but like eBay my experience is that auction sales suffer the same summer slow down as eBay. As bidders get distracted by good weather, travel and longer days, they pay less attention to auctions. So don’t be surprised if auction achieved prices are down in good weather. This is especially true if the auction house is live and not on-line. 😉

I can remember having to call a number on an old rotary phone, back in the day, if it had a zero ... I was like, "omg this is taking forever!" Zooom zip zip zip zip zip zip (thats how long it took for a number 0). I was so ready for digital!

approximately 26 minutes in.. I actually show in photos the BEND test on shoes if at all possible in our listings. To protect myself and to protect the buyer. I have had one individual spend time and energy to message me, "WHY would I include that?!" LOL!

We had some nice men's shoes that didn't sell for a few years and when we checked the men's shoes box to pull out a pair that did sell we noticed those didn't look quite right so check them, and yep, they cracked. Shoes don't last forever, even unused in a box!

I always flex shoes before purchasing. I've come across a couple with dry rot that wasn't obvious until you flex it.

  • @NickelNationCoinsMore

That crack in the shoe probably came from skateboarding and pushing off with that foot over and over and over again. I always check skateboarding shoes for that!

  • @christinaclanin791
    @christinaclanin791 Před 16 dny

I know I’ve seen other resales and people who buy storage units would do the flex on shoes for dry rot.

  • @tinawiththelakeexchange2093

You need twist test any rubber or composite sole shoes, Dansks are the worst for dry rot

Saddy & Gladdy: are the 2 faces front and back on the same head or are they like the old Red Ridding Hood where the 2nd head is under the skirt and you shift the skirt to see the other face. 😉

Are most of your sales auction or BIN? And on auction sales, any advice on item activity between list date and sell date? I notice most of my listings see very little activity for several days, and finish up in a decent price point. But I get nervous waiting on bids to come in, thinking maybe I listed incorrectly. Thanks!

  • @brianhenry2385

Failed Shoe: now that you have experience selling (and re-selling) single shoes you know how to recoup your list $5 on bad pair. You do have 1 good shoe. But is it worth it! LOL
