I always loved the little cartoon of Madonna at the beginning. Kind of like Betty Boop's cooler, blonde cousin.
I thought this was a Betty boop movie when I was a kid
I love how 80s this is, from the music, to the artwork (very 80s style deco) to the font used.
Not a cellphone in sight, so beautiful, so 80s.
This sequence is so quintessentially 80's.
Everything Madonna does is picked apart, and critiqued to death!...This was an entertaining, funny, light hearted movie with hits and misses, but overall...charming!

I get it's like hated but...I'm a 35 year old regular dude and I've always liked this. Many quotes. 'I had her in the cab once', 'no nikki, make us take it from you', 'you're lying' "how can you tell" 'your lips are moving'

Man I use to watch this movie all of the time when I was kid. I think it's underrated, it is funny.
To this day, I am always disappointed when a film or TV show with an animated opening turns out to be live-action.
Those "academics" always hated Madonna. She made so many brilliant soundtrack songs that deserved Oscar nominations (if not wins) - Crazy For You (1985), Into the Groove (1985), Live to Tell (1986), Who's That Girl/The Look of Love (1987), This Used To Be My Playground (1992), I'll Remember (1994), Beautiful Stranger (1999), Time Stood Still (2000), Die Another Day (2002) and Masterpiece (2011)

Well, they hated her acting, which is understandable, but in this movie she was really funny.

Who's that Girl is one of those "So bad, its good" films to watch and enjoy for most people. I am mostly there for the awesome music that captures the spirit of the 80s, the decade I was born in.
I was 3 when the film came out and I used to watch this movie religiously as a kid. I loved the cartoon opening sequence and the music was awesome from the soundtrack.
I remember seeing this on opening weekend at a cinema in Westwood near UCLA. The DOLBY sound system was unlike any other I had heard up to that point. The bass was incredible. I specifically recall the “bang” of the gun being pretty pronounced.

This gives me such a nostalgia, love me some Madonna. This movie is so cute.
I wish Madonna had taken a different approach to this character. In Desperately Seeking Susan, she was allowed a LOT of freedom to create Susan's personality and decided to just do things in a "spur of the moment" way. In this movie, the director had her follow a rigid script and Nikki's personality was literally "by the book." Even the director realized much later that he seriously thought this was a mistake. He said if he had a chance, he'd go back and redo the script so Madonna would have to create Nikki herself and ad-lib a lot of scenes.
Warner Brothers might have had something to say about that. A first time director and a really bad actress ad libbing their way through $30 million of their money? that was never going to happen.
Well, that explains why many critics hated Madonna's acting and the movie itself

If there is anyone who I want to be like, it’s Nikki. She may have to break the rules to do it, but her uncanny ability to live life on the fly (and get what she wants) is something we should all strive for!! This is a cute movie that will leave you smiling. And to all the shithead critics that raked Madonna across the coals for it...get a grip! It wasn’t meant to be an Oscar contender and she did a fantastic job!
