The bit with Jin saying Yoongi begged them to be in it makes me giggle every time lmao I mean it was either them begging Yoongi to be in it or Yoongi really asked the members, but was 100% nonchalant and tsundere about it like "yeah does anybody want to be in the mv? or whatever, idc" because we all know begging is just not Yoongi :D
Yet, he still was disappointed that Jimin didin‘t show up for this shoot. ;____;
Jungkook was supposed to be the one to hold the bang pd’s sketch
I clicked faster than Agust D rap
So funny
Impossible
Not possible dear💜
i’m sorry baby but its impossible😂💜💜💜
I bet
For the cultural references in the video and lyrics, and what is he referring to with "4 years ago" in a fast and proper way, go check Daechwita Explained By A Korean by DKDKTV, it's in English and short.
This!!!
Definitely!
Definitely!
Please do... 🙇
The explanation by Bookish Theories is good too.
This is how Yoon Gi often appears when he is not actively "on". Very laid-back, chill, would rather be sleeping or writing music. He's introverted, so it takes time for him to gather the energy to take on his Agust D or Suga personas. It's great that the other band members understand this so they respect that his idea of unwinding is often watching them enjoy themselves while he chills with his glass of wine.
That being said, he works as hard as the rest of the boys. If you saw him walking around on the street, you would not think he can sing and dance as well as he does, yet here we are.
I have a feeling a lot of his “low energy” has to do with him being in pain for 9-10 years… now that he’s had his surgery, you can see he’s feeling more peppy
@@AnnieDHarpie: By "energy" I mean in the context of introverts, which is a majority of the population. Introverts expend effort during their social interactions, some more so than others. (Extroverts generally gain their energy from social interaction, which can be draining for an introvert. People find their ways to cope.)
My reference to "energy" was not limited to physical stamina or strength. It was mostly geared toward the mental and emotional stamina and strength we use in our daily interactions with others. An introvert like myself is fine with large gatherings of strangers for a couple of hours. Afterward, I need to go be alone for several more hours just to decompress.
True, his chronic pain could play a part in all three types of fatigue. However, none of what I posted in the OP was to cast aspersions upon him. :)
@@mhuston865 sorry if what I said came off wrong. I didn’t think you were casting aspersions…I’m just so used to the “Lazy Suga/Cold Yoongi” stereotypes that I wanted to elaborate on your point. I’m an introvert too, and have been often been accused of “not enjoying” or not “being grateful” when I’ve just been existing, even if I am very much enjoying myself. 😅
I find Yoongi to be very expressive…but his facial expressions are very subtle, and if you aren’t used to reading people so closely, he can come off as “flat”… but in my experience, he’s anything but…however, I also have ADHD, so I can be hyper aware of peoples emotional state 😅
Long story short, no offense was taken or meant by my reply 😊
@@AnnieDHarpie: Don't worry. I didn't take offense or think you were accusing me of anything.
Yeah, you're right about the misconception placed upon introverts. While more people are leaning otherwise, introverts are sometimes seen as dark, mysterious, not liking people or social gatherings, etc. We do like those things, but we just need a bit more time to relax again. At the same time, we enjoy finding friends who are content to just be in the same room together and saying nothing, perhaps even doing their own activities. The company is nice, but just not a lot of energy needed.
Glad to have exchanged comments with a fellow introvert.
@@mhuston865 I can only last 30 minutes to an hour at a party depending on how wild it is xD When my family hosts parties, I’ll often be seen for a small period of time and then swiftly disappear into my room for awhile before coming back out again. And because of my ADHD, sometimes I’ll start spacing out when I’m eating with family friends at a restaurant or something. Social interactions are hard and my sister is extremely extroverted, so she has a hard time understanding me when I want to stay home instead of go out.
If you want more background on cultural references you could watch Daechwita Explained by a Korean by DKDKTV.
Now, for the video itself, Agust D is one of Yoongi's stage names. With this moniker he talks about personal stuff and things that wouldn't be suitable for BTS because it is his own journey against depression, anxiety and ocd. So in his first mixtape, he mentioned 4 years ago in 2020, there are so many feelings and emotions expressed that he named this Agust D from the first mixtape, Rage. And he has 2 videos released from it. The title track Agust D and Give it to Me, those tracks in particular are a bit in your face, you know? Very straightforward. So this personality took over and the success made this Agust D hunger for power thus the king representation. The Agust D with dark hair is the one from present. The other was his past. He explained in a livestream that his old self is not full of anger anymore, so this new one, wants to confront him. The songs are in a different range. He also said that we can't know for sure if the king is dead or not. We have to wait for his next project.
the lighting director is actually the same director from the historical zombie korean kdrama series, Kingdom, (its a good series istg) and thats why the lighting together with the cinematography makes this whole music video so so good
Cool information, thanks! I have the drama still on my list!
@@barbaraspeckarmy there are only 6 episodes in the 1st season and another 8 episodes in the 2nd season! there will be a 3rd season on july 23 KST so better watch it now before u be overwhelmed by the amount of episodes!
@@taniesaz2230 lol no problem only the chinese dramas with over 50 episodes overwhelm me (but i watch them anyways 😌). 3rd season.. awesome! Seems they did a good job 👍
There is also an interview that he does that is fascinating
so true! I hoped he add here interview with Suga - he talked how he wanted video that way
omg yes
Yeah, the Interview def shows/explains Yoongi's choices as the artist and what he wanted to get across.
Can someone explain to me which interview hahah I mean maybe I know it but I can’t remember one at the moment
so thank you if ^^
@@mel-py9de czcams.com/video/qLw8gLqf0bE/video.html
Suga says he bought the sword from a master craftsman in the sword dance practice video
in the D-2 interview, he talks a little bit more about the mv's story design if you're curious about that along with the making of the entire mixtape
Four years before this song, Suga released his first mixed tape under the name Agust D. That was what he was referring to
The name of this genius is Min Yoongi and he has two Personas - Suga, member of BTS and Agust D, another rapper represented by this blond king who appears first .... This delicious song to hear, he plans a meeting between his personas and ends up eliminating Agust D showing that his phase is over ..... Genius!
The filming location is Dae Jang Geum Park. Basically a super large complex of sets designed to represent past eras of Korean history and used by film makers in Korea for TV shows/Movies and such. Tourists are also free to visit the area. Yoongi (and BTS) really enjoy bringing there culture into the music and love to show it off, having filmed in many places to showcase Korea's beauty to the rest of the world. Yoongi is related to the royal bloodline of the last Empress of Korea Empress Myeongseong.
Yoongi had quiet an insight in the MV making. He looked for the sword and the car himself and also the eye scar was his idea.
And for killing the king part, he is actually referencing his first mixtape, Agust D, (that is his another stage name). Its like a past, present self thing. He is killing his past who was consumed by the anger for this world. Now, he is another version of himself and he doesn't like how his past self perceived the world, so he kills those perceptions, hence killing the mad king.
And another thing he said was that we wont know for sure if the king is actually dead or not. We will have yo wait for his next project
I always crack up laughing when Jin and jk are doing the fight scene, and they look over suga’s shoulder and fall in behind him dancing !
And they didn’t talk about it here, but I love how Jhope came and visited him on set and paid to have a coffee truck sent to the location for them. They all care about each other so much.
No, there isn't a second part to the mv, this was released last year so we'll probably have to wait until their next mixtape. Suga's Shadow is cool too ... it doesn't have great locations like Daechwita but it's cool and dark.
As others here have written there's more behind the scenes and explanation in his mix-tape interview. I remember him saying he was taking whiskey shots between takes. Knowing Suga, he may or may not have been joking LOL.
@@m.m.9175 Thank you for the correction, Army. It's been a long time since I watched the interview. 💜💜💜
This song is part of Suga’s mix tape. He has 2 under Agust D, both of which he released for free as a gift to his fans
i would love to see you react to the wings short films ! there’s a lot more i think you would like but the order is a little confusing. i think youd really enjoy the wings short films as it’s very focused on the bu (bts universe and the storyline etc) and the members individual character storylines. they are very intricate and they’re beautifully made. of course, whenever you’re ready bc i know you’ve been iffy(?) about only doing bts related videos recently. also, there isn’t a part two to the daechwita storyline/video but i’d also love to see one.
I can't wait...
I'm so exciting and that make me nervous now...
OMGGG YESS WINGS SHORT FILMSSS YESYESYES I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THEM LOL
Yes!! The short films would be really really cool in a filmmaker's perspective.
Suga is a genius at rapping, producing, songwriting and is always chill. Many reactors had commented that they were surprised and never expect Suga or Agust D to have such a voice and amazing raps.
The dynamic and brotherhood of BTS is very real. They're almost like one-minded and able to read each other mind and body languages well after years of living and working together since trainee days. They're able to grow and succeed as a group is partly due to their personalities, humbleness, no jealousy among the members, no domineering member, respect among themselves and unity.
Um...I think in this context mad king = crazy king, not angry
Correct
Daechwita (대취타) is a group of traditional instruments that are played during the king's ceremonial processions. it was performed during military marches or when the army won the war. only the military was allowed to play it at the time. but here 대취타 itself is turned on its head as a symbol of rebellion against the severe king. the executioner is on the rebellion side to, you can see him and Yoongi's character meeting eyes in the village in the beginning of the mv. and also notice that all that black clothed people which were kneeling to the king (but were still humiliated) in the end shaking their heads to the rebellion leader singing Daechwita. they support him out of choice, not fear or force. they don't want their king too
the king is aka Agust D: he is blond like Yoongi was during Agust D - first mixtape, that got him an immense fame. a quote from "The Last": "And Min Yoongi? I killed him" - this is Agust D words about getting through the hardships and use them to fire the greed that was a weapon to get to the point he is today. he had to create a persona that could take it and shrug everything off. so Agust D is the persona that gave him power and fame, took him to the heights he's at. The king is full of himself, he is rough, doesn't care about those who's below him, killing people if he doesn't like them (execution scene, boxes with heads). That's the representation of what he could have become under the industry and success / what he is turning in to / what people have made him out to be
the rebellious one is Min Yoongi, his commoner self who's there to take the control back and kill the king and to take over the throne, to force his real self to remember where he came from. he is the "reality check" to "put my feet on the ground", show that he still values his roots and his journey
also it's quite similar to the Jung's Map of The Soul theme (Shadow MV is Yoongi's solo with BTS).
* Jung said simply that the shadow is whatever we don’t want to know about ourselves, suppressed content in the unconscious mind. Persona - The development of a viable social persona is a vital part of adapting to, and preparing for, adult life in the external social world.
and the inner struggles with his self is also prevalent throughout D-2 (second mixtape). some qoutes: "Do I really even enjoy making music?", "I only started this because I liked music, but the descriptors they add to my name are burdensome at times." that reminds me of how many time "king" is in the Daechwita lyrics. it puts hum on top and also puts a pressure on him to maintain the image, that may be not who he really is. he's not a savage or angry person, but this persona can consume him
more on the cultural references :
/Il wol o bong do/ behind the king's chair in Joseon era has Moon on the left side, Sun on the right side, waterfalls & pine trees on both sides, mountain with 5 peaks and waves in the front. This painting is usually done when the king sits on the throne, it means prosperity of royal family under gods' protection and king's dignity
MV was shot in Daejanggeum Park in Yongin, Gyeonggido
the gun in Yoongi's hand is actually colt model 1860 ARMY. i don't know if it was on purpose, but hehe
both characters share the same scar to signal that they are one. that's why one of them is hiding under the hat at the market place, bc he looks like the king. also in k-dramas a man with a scar couldn't become a king (a symbolic artistic touch that is not a historic fact). though Yoongi said he wanted a scar bc it just looks cool 😄
there's a lot more but go to bookish theories :)
sorry for typos or mistakes 🙌
This is not the continuation of a previous story. When he says "Agust-D became king 4 years ago," he's talking about his success with his previous mixtape and being a part of BTS. Basically he feels like success got to his head a bit back then, but now he's a more humble version of himself so he 'kills the mad king'. There's another video vlog in which he explains this more.
i suggest watching 'I NEED YOU' next it would help you understand the BU more
Yes, real sword. He said so in the behind the scenes of the sword dance practice.
FYI: When pronouncing the name of this song, just pretend like the W isn’t there!
When the name of SUGA’s alter ego, Agust D, is spelled backwards it reads “DT Suga,” which is a reference to his hometown Daegu. He calls it Daegu Town, or DT for short.
I am always amaze about how cinnamic this MV , as you said they have a really good team
Yes, they hire so well for so many jobs, that HYBE could teach their practices.
(Cinematic)
there's no part 2 to this video and when he said agust d became king is because of his older mixtape where it has a few videos (one named "agust d", 'give it to me"...)
It might not exactly be what you usually look at, but there is a pravtice video of Yoongi learning the sword dance for this mv as well if you were interested in that at all.
Please react to their highlight reels.. its really cinematographic + has a storyline that are told and continue throughout bts mvs! The entire series (its not that long) just revolves around that storyline and has no music so its visual-based basically.
Please suga interlude shadow comeback trailer
I find your reactions refreshing in the way that you exhibit respect, admiration and a professionalism in your regards to them.
The continuation is from his first mixtape. The way he appears in the 'poor guy' outfit is similar to the MVs for his first mixtape (Agust D). Thus, old/humble self contronting new/famous self.
The executioner was also the guy who ran the meat market in the street scene. You can see them interact briefly at the beginning. That moment was key for me when I finally figured it out.
REALLY recommending DKDKTV's explanation for this song, it is explained by a korean so you can understand all the cultural references and the explanation is in ENGLISH too. And they go deeper into the lyrics too and also leave some room for own interpretation on the MV as well
In 2016 Yoongi realeased Agust D, his first mixtape and also title track. He had blonde hair at the time, and he came to conquer it all. 4 years later, he has long blonde to show how much time passed since he released his mixtape. The dark haired Yoongi signifies the 2020 Agust D, the D-2 (new mixtape) Agust D. He came to dethrone the other One. He's back, but he isn't simply stepping in the front of his older version, he's actually Killing him
Thank you for reacting to this!
it is an actual sword , yoongi had it custom-made and there is a Bangtan Bomb in Bangtan TV channel for his sword practice. , you can watch it anytime 💜
It's so satisfying to see 1k likes and 0 dislikes
Whole story of this mv was from AgustD himself. some details like car or boxes having head inside are from director.
Suga said these in his Vlog. Thx for your reactions
"I think it's really like a movie... they've got background actors, they've got-"
Jungkook and Jin show up
Fun Fact: Suga secretly drank to get tipsy to better play the role of mad king. You should check out BTS I need you or Fire
You can check out the D-2 Interview where he explains more context along with the DKDTV explanation if you would like additional cultural references
Oh another suggested video is Save Me. It’s a one shot thing and the camera went to town with it. Of course they did a few practice runs prior. Shot on an open field on a cold, rainy day
New subscriber! I love your honesty :) I think you would really like “Serendipity”
“Singularity” and “Epiphany” all of them are more solo songs from BTS (different members)
Dkdktv’s video will give you a lot of the cultural references. They have their own interpretation of the video but that’s of course up for debate
You probably know by now, but there is also a Bangtan Bomb on BangtanTV where Suga is learning the sword dance. It was very real. I would also recommend a channel called Bookish Theories. She explains everything really well.
the interview that he made to talk about his mixtape mentioned a bit more about the mv planning and stuff, also yup it’s a real sword! and he even got a professional to teach him the sword dance
If you don't wanna react to some BTS video anymore it's okay!! Please don't be discouraged and just keep uploading some of the Armys may leave because some of them are just here for BTS but your content and the way you comment in every video is wonderful!!!!
there is a video of him learning the sword damce. as im typing this idk if you’ve already reacted to it. it is a real sword that he bought and learned the dance for the mv in 2 days it’s pretty cool seeing him put so much effort into it
For better understanding of all the references i think explained by a korean is reccomended
i hope u see or notice this 🤍 I can’t wait for jungkook’s GCFs, you can literally see his progress throughout the years in his works in filmmaking ☺️
also in order of these cinematic mvs
Prologue (more like a film)
I Need U (the rated one)
Run
i hope you’re having a great day! I really like your insights 💛
It's an open set where Korean filmmakers shoot historical movies and dramas.
This is the part two. Part one was called Agust D and came out 4 years ago. He claps back at haters and flexes like crazy. I see this as him saying that he wants to kill that ego and be the more down to earth version of Agust D. Which is an interesting contrast to the lyrics that reinforce the whole “I’m the king, I’m the boss”
I'd actually really like to see you react to BTS' first ever MV "No More Dream" now that you've seen so much of their present day videos. It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on how far they have come, and the differences between what kind of methods/equipment they had then versus now.
Love your videos! And it's okay if you don't catch everything btw!
About the existence of a following part, the artist said it's even unkown if the king (his arrogance) was killed by the lower social class Agust D (his origins and humbleness), so we will just have to wait and see what the future holds.
Through the video there're a lot of reference to korean history but they aren't really that important (tho interesting) so you can abstain from watchinf an explanation video :)
4:50 actually they got a real sword but he said it was too heavy hahahaha
BTS has created their whole "Bantan Universe" storyline, that storyline is basically is going through their whole discography and MVs (not all of them but big amount of them is very connected to each other) most recent MV that is related to that storyline is 'Film out' (released this year) so if you want to know more about their whole backstory you can maybe find some explanation videos on youtube and react to it, i think I would be a good idea
"Save Me" and shooting sketch would be great from your perspective... It's all about camera work. Please 🙏
You should look for Suga’s sword dance practice. And yes, there is an explanation theory for this MV.
A lot of people recommend DKDKTV explanation. It is good for cultural references but their explanation of meaning itself is wrong because they've made this video before SUGA himself gave an explanation, which is completely different from theirs
True, I think *Bookish Theories'* explanation video was more in-line with Yoongi's message and gave a lot more references with the set and clothing choices.
I love this video, it's a jaw-dropper. The colors and the lighting, I don't know, it's just so appealing. I wish the shooting sketches were longer!
Thank you for your reaction 💜
I hope you will react to “I need you” (original ver)🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
As mentioned before, I would definitely watch the "Daechwita Explained by a Korean" video. It filled in a lot of the blanks and explained cultural and historical references I wouldn't have known otherwise.
OK so there are usually more than one behind the scenes videos on shooting the MVs. For this one there is an interview with Yoongi about his D-2 mixtape and he talks more about Daechwita in it. There is also behind the scenes of him learning the sword dance:)
the location is an actual massive studio set. it's kind of a small village with actual size and landscapes ancient Korea would have. so any production team can rent the place to film drama / movie / music / commercial / anything you name it.
DKDKTV has a great video explaining Daechwita both song and music video, talking about the historical and cultural references, its really interesting!
There were no comment about the camera they used and equipment from you, this was for the first time u r so immersed in how beautiful the song and MV were🥰..
I am looking forward for your next reaction ..
☆×♡!!
A few people have suggested you watch "Save Me." I think you'd really like it - it's really beautiful and the video is a one-shot take. There is a filming sketch video that is really interesting!!
Just found u a couple sec ago and now i keep binge watching ur bts related videos 😂 its cool too see a reaction from a film makers perspective
I'm not sure if anyone told you this yet, but here goes. The two guys that get in the fight in the market are from BTS. Jin (with the fake beard) and Jung Kook. Also, the executioner/butcher in the market is played by BTSs' lead choreographer.
Also, did you get tickets for BTSs' online concert on Sun/Mon June 13 & 14? I can tell you from experience that it is well worth the price. I was buzzing from excitement for literally hours after the 1st time I watched them do an online show last year. The tickets and more info are available on the app called 'Weverse Shop' it is the only way to buy them. They are about $50 Cdn each, or $83.70 US for both nights. Different set list for each night btw.
Just wanted to make sure you knew. Love to you from Vancouver eh!
Yoongi is just a chill and introvert person who has A LOT of passion for music. He’s so hard working and so good in his work. 💜🙏🏻
Actually there’s a longer behind the scenes on this but if you wanted to know more about the back story or explanation of the song, more theory, you could check out its explanation from DKDKTV. Just in case you really wanna know the story or ever details on it.
Anyway. Again. My work have paused coz i have to see your reaction 😊 thank u 🙏
I was waiting for this video!
DKDKTV explanation video would be of great help. There is so much that the music video nor it’s shooting didn’t explain, and their explanation to this is from a Korean perspective
that was an actual sword 😅 i also remember he said the sword was really heavy
I like how you make your own interpretation ❤️
Daechwita Explained by a Korean is good!!!!!! If you wanna know the background, don’t miss it :)
Omg I literally discovered u today and watched all of ur BTS reaction videos today. You're doing an amazing job of like going in depth on the visuals , the technical aspects of the shooting of the MVs and the interpretation of the lyrics as you see it.. along with keeping everything lighthearted! Thank you for that! I literally cried watching your after-explanation video of Spring Day
Please react to Film Out, MIC DROP, Interlude: Shadow, Blood Sweat & Tears (Jap. ver.), DNA and Dynamite?.. I really think you will enjoy these, there's so much to talk about!
Keep doing what you're doing, I personally enjoy it! Alright? Alright.
All of your video thumbnails are so damn pretty!! I just wanna take a moment and appreciate that 😂💜
Thank you! I try lol
you should react to the video that one of the members made, it’s called GCF in tokyo
Yeahh next pls react to V singularityy🔥
-they actually have an extended video or detailed video regarding their mv shootings in their BTS Memories DVD every year..
I think Shadow: Interlude would be an interesting video for you to react to. I love the perspective you bring to this MVs. A lot of us have watched them so many times but we're still learning so much from your takes, it feels fresh. keep up the good work!
Hey man, came from TikTok. Want to wish you all the best with your journey on YT! ✌🏼
Agust D🔥🔥
I suggest you to react to Blackpink. It is also a kpop GIRL Group.. And their songs are bop.. Andd..... They never ever used green screen💜
I hope you check out their mvs
Since you're a Filmmaker you should watch the wongsshortfilms... there are 7, for each member 1 with a sample of the solo song on the album of the member... since bts has a stlryline it's kind of like an continuation of it and a intro to blood sweat and tears... i think you wod really like it
Thanks for the video, I love it
Daechwita Explained Please!
1. Yes, Yoongi ordered and practiced with a read sword. 2. Yep. Yoongi and Fire are inseperable :)
TYSM for your reaction and appreciation for AGUSTD’s DAECHWITA!
Our spitfire genius Min Yoongi (aka solo work stage name: #AGUSTD (aka BTS stage name: #Suga) was the primary writer and producer for Daechwita / D-2
Yoongi has said that although Daechwita has many historical references as well as “hidden traps”, it’s up to the listener to interpret it as they wish.
Min Yoongi was 25 yrs old when he released his long awaited 2nd mixtape AGUSTD D-2.
I recommend “Lights” on the channel Universal Music Japan, and this song is a Japanese song by BTS. Honestly I’d be careful though because since it’s a Japanese channel(?), I’ve heard they’re more strict on copyright but I’m not sure so sorry If I have wrong information, but it’s a very pretty mv. If anyone knows the correct rules they have on that channel, please comment them to correct me, thank you!
Im so fast for daechwita 😍😍 happyyy
your reaction is 100% 💜💜💜💜🌌👌
Could you react to the shortfilms?
I loved this reaction and video so much 🥰
I'm so early, I love your videos
you should react to the bookish theory explanation behind daechwita
There's a D2 interview where he talks about it in Brief & its quite interesting as well just in case if u r interested... Anyway as always enjoying ur detailed & genuine reviews... They got alot more m excited for ur next content Alex
suga talks more about it in d-2 interview
You should react to singularity...
It's a real sword with was made for him. You can find a video on their channel or the company's channel which shows him learning and explaining more about the sword.
I always figure the Korean usage of "mad" here is more like the "evil tyrant" variety than like, the "crazy" or "angry" variety. I feel like with all the heads and the execution, they nailed the first one.
His sword is real. He got blisters. Check out his vid where he practices it.
That's an actual sword, he got it specifically made for the mv
