    I just bought one in Canada, with orange accents on the wooden handle. I really like the look and feel of the knife. Thanks for the review!

    The orange spacer is for when you drop it in the woods because this is technically in their hunt line, even though it's very EDC.

    • @JJ-rf5kl
      @JJ-rf5kl Před 6 měsíci +1

      The mini is for EDC and the large assumes you're wearing gloves while hunting....

  • @dlrmon1
    @dlrmon1 Před 2 lety +2

    Love the design but like you I was skeptical of the orange parts. Purchased both hoping they would grow on me or benchmade would help me with parts from there custom shop. I actually grew to hate the attention the Orange created sticking out of my pocket. It took 3 years for the aftermarket to come up with the brass parts and different color back spacers etc. to now make them amongst my favorites. It was rather frustrating to know that just minutes away from me we’re the $20 worth of parts from Benchmade that would have satisfied me...but no...

    S30V is still new to me. I was a teen knife nut when that steel came out and it wasnt until a few yrs ago i could afford to try all the steels available. S30V definately is one of my top user steels.

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It was top tier when it came out. Now it is super underrated and is probably the most slept on knife steel.

      @@patrickbledsoe2176 Benchmades S30V is top notch. It tests well in my experience and on rope and cardboard tests, its commonly sharpening (or lack thereof) or burnt factory edge most commonly associated with poor steel performance out the box

    Don't care for the mini crooked river.
    It's a little thick (bulky) in the pocket,
    and a bit on the heavy side.
    And I have had the blade come open
    and cut my hand multiple times
    reaching into my pocket.
    Always seems to happen
    at the worst/inopportune times.

    • @patrickbledsoe2176
      @patrickbledsoe2176 Před 8 měsíci +1

      That happened to me 3x with the Gerber EAB so I threw it in a creek, but that was $14 the crooked river $300 ?

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Ouch that’s terrible. How did it come open? Which way were you carrying it in your pocket? Did you have it tip up right side?

    • @patrickbledsoe2176
      @patrickbledsoe2176 Před 7 měsíci

      The Gerber got me tip up with the clip clipped on my right front pocket each time. Each time it happened I threw it away and a yr or so later I'd buy another not remembering what happened to the last one thanking this is a cool knife than I'd cut myself and instantly remember why I'd got rid of the last one

      @@patrickbledsoe2176 wow. I don’t usually see tip up knives open in right pockets unless the clip is on the lefty side. Crazy. Hope you’re okay.

  • @davidrim8309
    @davidrim8309 Před 2 lety +3

    I like the knife shape but that’s about it. The steel liners add weight, bolsters are non functional ugly weights (they’re ugly on this knife not all knives), wood scales are not my thing (alternate scale materials don’t make it better), and you said it, it’s fore someone who likes heavy wood knives. I’m sure this knife appeals to a lot of people that’s why it is still in production, just not me. Good review.

      I carry a bugout and also a mini CR. The bugout is made to be lighter, but the CR is a heavier duty knife with it's wood scales/liner etc. IMO. Now I have the carbon fiber bugout, so I really don't feel that thing in my pocket.

    Can you tell if its a fake or real?

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  Před 2 lety +2

      Most of the time, yes. There are good fakes for some models but you can usually tell that certain things aren’t right even without having it in hand like the laser marks on the blade not being right, the color of the handle materials being off, or thumb studs and hardware being wrong.

    Yeah for 400$ Canadian dollars , ima pass . You can buy the top of the line stiletto knife with that money that functions much quicker and will save your life , instead of a 3.5 inch blade that’s most likely made in China

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  Před rokem +3

      All current Benchmade models are made in the US. I am not sure why you think it's made in China. I also would not recommend a stiletto for self-defense but that's a separate issue.
