YES YES YES! I've been on the of the people hollerin' at ya to react to this one! It's one of my favorites, the arrangement is superb without being overworked. I LOVE Tim's smirk on that low note. And I laughed out loud at Sarah forgetting the year (that's baby brain for you!!). Awesome! Thank you! Also, those are NOT their actual heights, they were just having fun.
The guys did a great job of this Johnny Cash cover. Made it into a jazzy blues style. And they all look like some sort of criminals especially Tim & Adam. Remember this was done during quarantine so none of them were physically together. They were very creative during that time. Love the background train noises. Adam's beatboxing is crazy good & so is Tim's low notes.
I agree! I've never understood why people don't pick up on the train sound throughout the song! I heard it the 1st time I saw the video. It'd be a whole different song if those train sounds weren't there. The other thing very few people notice is Adam racking the rifle/ shotgun.
One of their coolest songs yet. I still wonder why they are in prison.... Adam Rupp is there by reason of insanity, while Tim looks downright dangerous! Austin and Robb were probably in the wrong place at the wrong time while Chance drove the getaway car!

On January 13th, 1968, Johnny Cash made history by recording a live album inside of California’s Folsom State Prison. The album, At Folsom Prison revitalized Cash’s career. But why did Cash decide to play two live shows at Folsom Prison?
The song that started the prison obsession for Cash was his own “Folsom Prison Blues.” Written in 1953 while serving in Germany with the US Air Force, it was inspired by the 1951 film, Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison. Two years later, Cash recorded the song for the Sun Records label in Memphis. It became one of Cash’s signature songs, and had one of the most iconic lines in country music history; “But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.”
At Folsom Prison was released in May, 1968. The single, “Folsom Prison Blues,” hit the Billboard Hot 100 on May 25th, and the Billboard Country Charts a week later. It was re-released & an instant success peaking at #1 on the country charts, breaking into the mainstream Top 40. The album followed suit, hitting number #1 the Top Country charts & #13 on the Pop Album Charts. It was certified gold in October.
At Folsom Prison won two GRAMMY awards for Cash. His second and third respectively, he won for Best Album Notes (documented by LA Times writer Robert Hilburn, and photographer Jim Marshall), and Best Country Vocal Performance, Male for “Folsom Prison Blues.”
At Folsom Prison has been acknowledged by Rolling Stone, Blender, Time, and Country Music Television as one of the greatest albums of all time. After achieving triple platinum status from the RIAA in 2003, the Library of Congress chose it for addition to the National Recording Registry. It would seem to all who heard it, that Johnny Cash’s decision to record live at Folsom Prison had paid off.
Tim is in for aggravated assault, Chance for gentlemen theft, Austin for seducing a widow out of her money, Adam for insanity and Rob was just an unwitting accomplice.
So many Home Free tracks I would love to see you react to. Moonshine was arranged by Austin and he does a great job on the lead, and Catch me if you can is fantastic - very creative and a great lead from Rob. Ladies, I’m so glad you enjoyed this cover as much as I do! My video theory: Chance, Rob and Austin were probably giving witnesses statements against Tim and Adam and were free to go. Tim was the naughty ringleader, who was who angry, he got caught. Rupp was put in the psych ward because he is a Freak of Nature! Loved him vibin and dancing before Tim’s low notes!
I am having a tough weekend so I started re-watching some of your reactions and y 'all make me smile and laugh. I just got to see Home Free live in my town yesterday! I has singing along and partying haha. I started laughing so hard when Tim's low notes were making my whole body vibrate lmao. Loved your reaction to one of my favorite songs! Love ya guys!

They were having fun with the height charts. All are tall ranging from Austin 6'1 to Rob at 6'4.
This was one of the 'quarantine' videos - I love their senses of humor! Check out the heights on the charts behind them (actually Austin is the 'shortest' and he's over 6'1"). I don't think you've seen "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" on Peter Hollens' channel. Johnny Cash released this in 1968 (wow - now I feel older than dust . . . ).

this song takes heavily from the train song, an old blues method that has the song sound like a train. if you let yourself just feel the music without trying to understand the words, you will notice the whole song sounds like a train, from leaving a station to full speed. even railroad crossings if you listen for it. these guys are masters.

Adam Chance was in the same Sing Off season as VoicePlay and Home Free but he was with Street Corner Symphony. They did a collaboration with VoicePlay called Don't and it's on VP's video list. You'll love it!
He was actually on 2 seasons prior, but all the other info seems to be correct. Street Corner Symphony were the runner-ups for season 2, Home Free won season 4, and VP got 5th/6th place season 4. Peter Hollens was on the Sing-Off during the same season as Street Corner Symphony with the group On the Rocks from Oregon

I challenge you to watch When You Walk In and not fall off your chairs at about the 9 second mark. That video is unique in all the Home Free videos I've seen and not many people have reacted to it. This was either the first or one of the early videos did remotely due to Covid. They did their own single video/doing the lighting/makeup/lip syncing & sent them in to get masterfully connected together as a joint video.

WHY trains?
They're purposely using the sounds as Johnny Cash was known for 'prison/railroad songs'
Railroad songs?
Cash stated growing up hearing the trains in the distance meant ability to go wherever & follow dreams. Same reasoning those in prison could hear the train & think could take them away. Hence railroad songs.

Only Tim & Chance are sounding country doing the melody.
The rest are doing more of a jazz style arrangement. The tenor duo is the one putting a modern response twist as well as jazz chords.

No to my knowledge none of them are 6ft 4in. Tallest is Rob shortest in Adam Rupp, from what I've heard. This is a great video but it looks like Adam Rupp is in the wrong kind of prison. Always truly enjoy watching your reactions to there songs.
