Merger means monopoly. No. Shouldn't be allowed.
@JahChildofTruth I'm old enough to remember monopolies that began with the most innocuous mergers. Once it begins, it's just a matter of time before there's a monopoly, and then everyone wonders what happened. I'm not trying to sound smart; I've done my research and have seen it in real-time. Criticism of my intelligence doesn't change the facts.
WE THE PEOPLE SAY NO TO THE MERGER!!!
They're so desperate to get richer. So slimey
Less competition=even higher prices but the stockholders would be happy.
Never let anyone have that much control over the food chain.
No. That wont help.
Never let anyone control the food chain like this.
So temporary closures to manipulate the market? How is this legal?
Honestly this is not going to be the greatest idea! You're limiting on where people can grocery shop? Meaning Job cuts, less employees, less stores. You won't get as much as the same product as you would get in another store. Certain products are better than other products in another store. Meaning of shortages of products
Fry's is ghetto now so I only shop at natural grocers
Nonsense
I do not shop at a place that's so big that are too big for their own pants
At least in my area we still have Woodman's, Sendick's and Fresh Thyme to compete. This however is bad news for those living out west.
With the size of Walmart and Amazon I’m pretty sure the merger of these companies would not fit that definition
Yay… monopoly and food deserts. C&S is a wholesale store that supplies the independent grocery stores that are few and far between in Phoenix and won’t actually help the general public in this market. If you’re going to raise the price of groceries, don’t make it even further to go get them.
Supposedly they have to agree to run them as regular grocery stores. If you look into it that is what they are being asked to do.
Yeah there not closing the management teams are being investigated though I got a letter from the union that said they need to be careful messing up peoples schedules and not giving there workers lunches and short changing people on there hours the union considers that wage theft even if there part time.
We may of had a mystery shopper come in the other day she was very kind to me but she didn't like how the other customers were treating me and the other associates so management really needs to be careful stepping on the lower waged workers some of them bring a lot of skills to the company and they don't bust there ass like that just to be gossiped about and talked down to just because there not fast enough. There not laying people off but they can lay you off if your the kind of worker to stand around and gossip about people, call in a lot or wait for the other associates to answer the customers phone calls for you.
Kroger (Fred Meyers) prices go up daily in my town! 😮
Greed personified by both companies. I am praying the FTC and suing states keep this merger from happening. If they want to close stores down due to unprofitability, then just do it and stop hiding behind a merger!
Worried about perception if they just close the stores rather than say they divested them...people need to see between the lines. This is a dump off!
They should force GIANT Corporations to stop considering potential employees previous work between different brands! That does more harm to lower wage workers than anything else! IF they want to "grow" by buying their competitors then ANY company should be banned from this nasty practice. A precedent of sorts was established with McDonald's Corp and it's franchises. It should be expanded to ALL industries. Low wage earners typically can only get low wage jobs and those employment choices should not be eliminated due to corporate greed
It’s going to happen. Nothing we can do about it.
It is not going to happen, that would be a monopoly on the food chain and one of the biggest threats to this nation. No one should ever have that much control over the food chain.
