CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK KICKS OFF CELEBRATIONS AS COPENHAGEN APPOINTED WORLD CAPITAL OF ARCHITECTURE

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark has kicked off a year of celebrations as Copenhagen starts its tenure as the global capital of architecture in 2023. The Danish capital city was designated as the global architecture capital of 2023 by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects (UIA).
The Crown Prince, who serves as the patron of the year of the scheme, delivered a speech at the opening event. The Lord Mayor, the Technology and Environment Mayor, and the Culture and Leisure Mayor participated in a panel discussion during the opening.
Crown Prince Frederik said: “I am delighted that Copenhagen has been appointed as World Capital of Architecture by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects. As its Patron it is my great pleasure to kick-off an exciting year with numerous architectural events ahead of us, not least the World Congress of Architects in July.”
UNESCO and UIA’s decision to name Copenhagen as World Capital of Architecture in 2023 aims to showcase the role of architecture and culture in addressing contemporary challenges. Throughout the year, various events will be held to promote architecture, sustainability, and culture.
Additionally, the UIA’s world congress, with the theme ‘Sustainable Futures - Leave No One Behind’ will be held in Copenhagen in July 2023 as part of the capital of architecture designation. His Royal Highness also said: “The most dedicated Danish and foreign architects are competing, making Copenhagen an abundant laboratory of new solutions.
A true World Capital of Architecture. The UIA World Congress in Copenhagen in July, aligns with the framework of the UN Global Goals “Leave no one behind”. I am full of confidence that Copenhagen will be an inspiring, worthy, and welcoming Capital for this important ambition and event.”
Following the panel discussion, a prize was awarded to the winners of a competition for a new design of the Town Hall Tower. Their interpretation will be featured on scaffolding banners during the tower’s renovation from February to December 2023.
It's a time of great change for Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and his wife, Crown Princess Marie-Chantal. Following King Constantine death, Pavlos assumed the role of head of Greece's defunct royal family following his passing.
With that in mind, it has been reported that he and Marie-Chantal have decided to make a major move. The family primarily reside in New York, and also have a home in London. However, multiple Greek outlets are reporting that they are now in the process of looking for a property in Athens as they prepare to settle permanently in the capital.
