- A video shows the tire of an American Airlines plane explode during takeoff Wednesday at Tampa International Airport.
Airline officials confirmed first responders were dispatched to the airway just before 8 a.m. for a "mechanical issue" on American Airlines flight 590 to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

You guys need to understand that rescue units cannot enter an active runway until ATC clears all incoming and outgoing aircrafts 😬

Something I notice with many airports during many incidents: It took the fire truck forever to get to the planes, where every second counts (in terms of human life, fire progression). Remember the sooner they can stop the fire, the less damage and the faster the runway can reopen, saving millions $ from delays). Yet the way airports structure and design fire rescue system is 99% the same 50 years ago, nothing improve. Like nobody sits down and says: How can we make the time reduced by 50%, design fire station that says underground at each end of runway, "specialized airport" fire hydrants, etc. Just need CREATIVITY MINDS, and willing to improve.

Either the news is now hyper fixated with planes and this always happens or traffic controllers/planes just stopped working properly all of a sudden
So there are hobbiest that go watch airplanes and trains work. What most likely happened was that the hobbyist recorded this submitted it to the news as you would because it is newsworthy and the news ran it.
And I don’t know if you have been paying attention, but there are a lot of accidents lately with Boeing airplanes and as they should, they are being reported. Am I understanding that you have an issue with reporting ?
I think I understand what they're saying... they think there's been a strange increase in the reporting of plane, train and boat accidents over the last several months/years; perhaps due to some conspiracy? But really, the internet and everyone having a camera just makes for a small world, and makes it easier to report accidents, which are likely to be posted in hopes of getting views or going viral 😂 @@Gsv-w2q
You would think blown tires are a new phenomenon but any little incident with an aircraft will get the views (especially a boeing) so the news will push like it was a near disaster

There are 3 reasons. The tire was old/worn out, the tire overheated and blew due to imbalance, and/or the tire was overpressureized.
I was in that plane and EVERYONE was panicking smh….I was drunk AF and feeling great…lol…

Absolute correct. THE FAA roules is strong about fire and tipology this case, the fire start from the tire.because departed sure are lot fuel.the explosion tire damage the wing? (I JUST REMEMBER CONCORD AT ANY TIME). NOBODY SAY. BUT THE CREW AND PASSENGERS STILL SIT DOWN, BECAUSE ALL PEOPLE IS SAFE AT ALL.

Exactly…It’s like calling 911 and waiting until they get there. Fire rescue would have been there waiting for them upon landing if the problem was already known before landing.

You can see how fast the pilot reacts, seconds after the tire blew, obviously the tower told the crew to abort takeoff and then they immediatly engaged reverse thrust

There are many, many jobs on ground crews. I can't believe they did not evacuate through tail exit! But someone already said crew may not have known tires on fire. With the extraordinary heat we've been having in Tampa with no rain, tarmac stays very hot.

It is a good thing that the a/c was Not at V2 because then the a/c would Not have been able to stop so very quickly

Wow. Took 4 minutes for the fire trucks to arrive. Must have been a delay in the call.
The trucks must stay out of the way of other planes too. They just can’t put on the sirens and expect planes to get out of the way like cars on a road.
Why the people late to get out ?
I assume the Media will blame Boeing for a blown tire made by Michelin, and maintenance by Tampa International Airport

The amount of times an airport firetruck is called is far less than the calls city fire stations receive. I'm sure these airport crews get lazy as a result.

Yes there was a fire but it wasn’t a fire that was threatening the life of people on board captains usually don’t evacuate the plane unless they have no other choice because during an evacuation many people will get hurt rushing to the exits
