i'm usually meh on Lunar New Year releases as an Asian American woman, it always feels like a cash grab because there's almost little representation of asian models in their campaigns and the tones for the Lunar New Year releases never match the skin tones they try and sell to.

suchhhh a cash grab, it's almost always just products from the permanent line repackaged vs taking the opportunity to cater to asian customers.
even asian brands seem to have shade ranges that cater more to white skin and cut off darker asian skin tones, it really is a shame that so few brands lean in to the nuances of colour that suit asian skin tones the best. the brand i can think of that does this the best is Suqqu

"Nothing could be better than what I already have." What a wonderful place to be! And if you feel that way, knowing your makeup taste as well as you do, it's probably true. If a new, shiny thing IS better, it would likely be so marginally better as to not make any real difference in your enjoyment. Take it from someone who's spent days looking for the "perfect" makeup item, just to realize I already owned the exact thing I wanted, in all it's luxurious glory. In all likelihood, the new thing wouldn't be quite as good and I'd feel silly for buying it.

Color correcting was super popular like 10 years ago on CZcams and faded away in popularity for the most part. It’s interesting to see the products come back on CZcams lol. Almost every company had/has correctors in palettes, packaged like concealer, or sticks, but I’m interested to see how much better these newer products are. As others have mentioned, the blue elf colour corrector is something I'm super interested in because I use blue to counteract orange / peach tones and also desaturate foundation to make them more olive. It's a super useful tool if I like a foundation's finish, blue instantly makes it more olive and neutral. I too have the la girl one but it's a bit faffy to use because of the pump. I like the idea of swiping this one directly on the face to mix with any base product 😊

ELF already has a green color correcting face primer in a sort of a gel-cream formula that works pretty well on me - although it's a product that looks WILDLY different in the container vs out of the container. It comes out of the tube almost olive green and I did a complete double-take when I used it. I agree with you that color correctors suddenly seem to be everywhere, and my memory of them from the 80s was as these strange, sticky, one-off products, languishing at the bottom of a "FINAL SALE" bin at Drug Emporium. Formulas and technology have come a long way baby!😄

I have a pale olive skintone, but I’m very muted (desaturated) and a little bit cool, which makes blue perfect for me. Combined with the yellow that exists in all foundations, it creates some green, which I need, but the blue also desaturates the final tone, which I also need. So long as a foundation isn’t too yellow, blue can make anything match me-I use the LA girl blue mixer every day, because every foundation, apart from certain Korean products, is too saturated for me.

Osmanthus smells similar to peach. And I too love bitter peach. I have a sample I am savouring and eventually I want a bottle but not anytime soon. And good tip on concealing blemishes I definitely need that right about now.

OMG the bit about TF Cherry Smoke, because SAME. I own Santal Blush, Soleil Brulant, and Ebene Fume because they are within that smoky incense wood family where Ebene Fume actually has Palo Santo in it---Be still my heart. So when I got the email for the new Cherry line with a smoky one, I gasped.

I love Lost Cherry… have been into it for a long time. Charlotte Tilbury, albeit a very expensive brand, I support as she has great tones for olive skin. Both foundation and concealer which is amazing. Only her, Lisa Eldridge and partially Nars (concealer) cater to my light olive skin tone so well. ❤

Every year at the end of December, I take a hard look at my makeup collection and I see how great it is and that I don’t know how much I’ll actually buy the next year. And I buy that load of hot garbage that I just told myself every year. Every year. Because by January, my boots are already shaking, and by February, I’m already starting to set up what I’m going to buy during the Sephora VIB sale. I haven’t bought anything yet but we’re not even in the double digits of January yet. I really like these videos though

No, ELF did have several color correctors, years ago (8,9?). A similar form to the new one, color-correcting setting powders in cool & warm (I had both), several correcting primers in pump bottles, and a color-correcting cream compact with four shades, which I also had-- the compact came in two sets of 4 shades each, like the powders. I've long since tossed it, but still have the Cool correcting powder compact, which I just crushed to dust to use loose for my under-eyes; this had four shades you'd swirl together or use separately. So I guess they're getting back to this, but they did not just jump on the trend. As for the rest of this stuff, I feel more or less the same way as you, except that there's one Mac lipstick I'd love, but I have 1 so similar, I'm not buying their twin.

I am intrigued by the e.l.f. color correctors, especially the pink and yellow. (Incidentally, the pink and the green were giving me Exa corrector vibes.)

On the listing, it says it’s meant to be mixed with foundation (not placed in isolation on the face) to change it to a cooler tone, if the foundation in question is too warm. Very similar to what you did with the Salt New York crème tints. In short, more of a mixing medium than an actual color corrector.

Happy new year! The colour of that hoodie is giving me life! Also I would love a perfume video from you. Maybe try a bunch of samples or smell a bunch and give us a perfume review of sorts? That’s the video I didn’t know I needed until you talked about Cherry Smoke. Also the only mini lipsticks I like are the Mac ones and the Tom Ford ones! Very good packaging and I can never fully finish lipsticks. But other than that I generally also hate mini lip products!

I picked up the blue color correct or because about a week before this was released. I saw a CZcams short about how you can fix concealers or foundation base products of any kind that are for example to Orange leaning or to warm leaning and I have Colton skin so some brands I can’t even find a foundation that works for me but anyway, the blue Offsets the worms so that’s personally what I picked it up for
