I was speechless when I saw this happen back then.

I was like :o cause Odin came out
Then i was like :OOOOOOO for 10 minutes
When you really discover the game and suddenly think "Alright Odin's gonna finish him, cool, a boss fight gone with no struggle..".
The ultimate wtf moment of the game.
Can you imagine what's going through Seifer's mind, though? He's absolutely gone at this point.
Seifer finally realized he's been used as a pawn by Edea (then Adel) but still kept moving due to his pride of not wanting to accept that he made a mistake and want to protect his absurd image of being a "knight in shining armor"
Doesn't anyone see the resemblance between seifer and Rick Astley in "never gonna give you up?"

No other FF game makes me feel anything except for this moment with Fujin. And it just hits you without giving you any time to prepare.
Wish he was this strong in KH2
honestly my reaction wasn't so dramatic, just like "lol odin can appear in boss fights? hahaha" then "lool, i love this game"

I remember playing this and having Odin show up. I was like you done fucked up now Seifer, but then he just cuts right through him. Made my jaw drop.

When Fujin started speaking normally instead of yelling single word dialogue, I knew things just got serious

Seifer needs more love and screen time.....
Then you get cool stuff in other games like how in Final Fantasy Record Keeper, running the records of this fight, trying to use your Odin summon against him will result in him counter-attacking with Zantetsuken-Reverse and wiping your own party out.
Honestly when this first happened to me I was just like "Okay..." Since I assumed it wasn't going to work but also thought it might since Seifer was just human.
I was surprised however that Seifer did kill Odin and was expecting a tough fight after that but was disappointed :(. Still one of the best FF moments though in my opinion regardless.
FF8 had SO many moments.

When i first did this fight i was like your screwed no Siefer then Odin dies and im like oh no, and then you get weak ass gilgamesh. Never could understand why the downgrade
To be fair, Gilgamesh not only can appear during bosses, but also appear at any time during the fight. While yes, he can use Excalipoor and be a waste, Excalibur, Masamune, and *especially* Zantetsuken can be really good. If a boss is immune to instant death, then Gilgamesh can still do massive damage with Excalibur and Masamune.

Caught me off guard and looked so out of place.
Man my jaw dropped when this happened. I saw "Zantetsuken" and I was all like "OOOOOH SEIFER YOU DONE NOW", then he just slices him in half. Then afterwards I see GIlgamesh grab Odin's sword and I'm like "Who tf is that guy?"
Even though this scene can picked on a lot of things you can't deny the message they were going for.
Seifers clothes are all ragged torn and dirty but his mind is clearer than ever after his friends told him to wake up.
So what does he do when a literal being known for one hit killing tries to interrupt his match with his rival? He performs said one hit kill technique flawlessly

No. Odin's dead. He only appears in Disk 4 if you didn't get him before the Seifer fight.
I havnt played 1-6 but am I the only one that thinks this is the ONLY final fantasy game compared to the others. When I was young this experience shaped my personality and touched my emotion like none other
Yeah, if you get him before this fight then he is replaced by Gilgamesh for the rest of the game, but if you didn't get him, the you can find him at some point on disk 4.

First time I saw this battle, I was like "Wait, Odin can proc on this boss? Alright, free win, mess him up Odin!" .... Imagine the shock when I saw Seifer *kill Odin* instead.
Also, fun fact, in the Japanese version, Gilgamesh comes very close to namedropping Bartz, before realizing that it's not him, implying that, once again, this is that same Gilgamesh from V.

Odin tried to do zantensuken which would have instantly killed seifer but seifer did a zantensuken reflect move which made odin in a sense kill himself
interestingly enough, this could be taken another way.
According to FF4 lore, Odin has only ever lost 1 duel because lightning hit his sword during it.
We do see his sword fly off, so maybe this was their interpretation of that duel.
As for who killed who, it's 2 men running at each other with swords... I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that seifer killed odin, not odin killed odin.
That was cool but not worth Angelo Search. Shame he loses a cool moment if you don't pick Odin up.

You do realize that Odin can't appear in boss battles, whilst Gilgamesh can, right? Anyway, yes, you can, as long as you can reach the Centra Ruins, which you probably will need the Ragnarok for.
