I just purchased the same MotoBatt battery in your video. I spent hours trying to install it, before I gave up. I found your video, and now I know why I couldn't get the new battery to fit. I'm sure I will be able to install it now. However, the allen screws that came with the battery are useless. I couldn't tighten them with the enclosed allen wrench without the wrench slipping and rounding out the screw head, so I went to the hardware store and purchased some new M6 screws. Thanks for a very informative video!.

I got my MotoBatt and Sosche jumper today, installed with your tips. Thanks! I cannot believe how tiny the factory battery was (2021 Spyder RT). It died before the bike was 1 year old and would no even jump with the battery pack I use on my car. I also put it on a tender every time I parked it. So, I think I am in fine shape now thanks to you, Bob!

I'm getting a 2023 Spyder RT Limited in 3 weeks and I'm learning a s*** ton of information from your awesome vids. A general tip I learned with recreational vehicles is to do ALL repairs using the tools in your "travel tool bag". You find out FAST what you're missing in the bag while in the comfort of your garage/shop. Sure, the very rare 'big' tools might not be in your "travel tool bag" but the method of using what you'd have on the road has been an enlightenment with my tear drop camper and truck. Keep up the good work coach! You're saving all of us caught in the Spyder web so much time and adding more enjoyment to owning Spyders.

Get a 36mm combo wrench and cut it in half. It’s needed to loosen and tighten your rear wheel axle bolt. You can loosen the muffler side nut with the open end half and without removing the cotter pin. You can then adjust belt tension and alignment. You only need to remove the cotter pin if you plan to remove the nut and/or bolt completely.

The jump starter is something everyone should consider having, a small & multi purpose power supply source. I have a one made by Battery Tender, works great, so handy to have one of those jump starters. 😁👍👍

Great video I wish I had watched before I bought one of those Motobatt batteries for my 2022 Spyder RTL. I discovered the exact same thing, the extra terminals are so tight on the back side they are useless, AND not realizing it since I installed the terminals on the rear thinking I would be ready to add accessories later, the positive terminal made contact with the frame and gave me a quick short when I connected the negative on the front side. Now I'm struggling to get it back out since those terminals are hanging on something, and you are right - the flat top causes problems with the bracket. Not worth it in my opinion and I'm not happy that SlingMods keeps promoting them. I have a Yuasa on the way!

LOL! Too cold to work outside in Florida? I follow your channel from Oakvillle, Ontario - about an hour’s drive north of Buffalo (only 40 miles as the crow flies).
I put a battery tender on my ‘21 Spyder at 23°F two weeks ago. It charged the battery in less than 12 hours.
Yesterday it was 15°F, a bright sunny day and the roads were dry, so I took the Spyder out for a short run to Starbucks. If you want to know how well the heated handle grips work, and the seat, come on up for a visit. LOL. (They work great!)
The only problem is my clear helmet shield fogs up, so I ride with it up.
    I enjoy your videos.

Cool video coach. I go to thinking and out of alot of videos I've seen on the spyder most ppl assume and compare it to 2 wheelers or other trikes. I've found that its more towards a ski doo or atv or the sea doo when you ride it. If ppl that have not rode those, have no real understanding of how it rides. Each one of them you have to lean into the corners not the other way. My opinions

My worthless opinion is that it might crack your battery plastic without totally ruining your battery, being that you aren’t likely to resell it. But, it might void the warranty of the battery if it cracks. The solution is to remove the bracket and flatten those tabs with pliers or a hammer against a hard surface.

In Stafford, VA, 14 deg at waking this Saturday AM and 20 deg now at 1100. Replaced my battery 3 weeks ago. Second time since I bought my 2016 RT I've replaced the battery. First time, it was an OEM (Yuasa) battery and the second was a similar battery (a Haijiu). Off the battery I have one set of leads to my FuzeBlock FZ1 and one set for the battery tender cables. I have a Type S jump pack which has the same type of connector as you have on your Scosche jump pack. I looked on the Scosche website but not see the tender cable that you have. Do you have any source info on that cable? I've had to jump start my Spyder RTS twice using the supplied cable which meaned removing the battery cover. I had purchased another cable from Type S and had planned to remove the clamps and solder the wires to a set of tender wires from a dead Battery Tender product I had. Thanks for another good video. As a side note, when replacing the battery, I was surprised how open the back of the battery box was allowing dirt and grime to collect on the battery itself.

how long did your previous battery last? I only have 5K miles on my 2021 and keep it on the tender all the time. It is starting to seem sluggish. the cold NC days are not too kind. I was thinking I would get a new battery at the first oil change (9K) and maybe a back tire. I do NOT plan on doing much maintenance myself. Decided to retire from that (but I will put in a battery). Just today, I finished putting a new carburetor on a 21 year old 4 wheeler. After 2 days of carefully getting it cabled in, it (new carb) leaked, so I sold the bike before the day was over. Not going to dedicate too much time or get angry at my failures. Just moving on. If I messed up my spyder, I would not forgive myself, so I will let a pro do most maintenance. Just gotta find one to trust.
