I remember when this came out I was trying to talk about it at a table with friends in a restaurant and couldn't remember the band name and some random dude five tables over yells out "Collective Soul!"
Hey! That was me!⊠and we all laughed and everything, embarrassed my girlfriend bahahaha so funny! đ Great memories.. ahhhhâșïž
WOW if this is real, then the chances of you both commenting are INSANE@@TheCosmicStarmen
@@TheCosmicStarmendude no way thatâs awsome đ
"THE WORLD I KNOW" and the song "DECEMBER" are two more great songs by them.
Great reaction as always guys!! âïž
Better now is another good one.
Absolutely!
Iconic songs right there đ
I absolutely love 'December' â€
My parents used to do DJ work in the 90s, and I happened upon one of their mix albums with "December" on it. I used to play that sucka on repeat. Great song.
Heavy and Gel are great songs too
Collective Soul is so underrated! Love this song! Some more great Collective Soul:
The World I Know
December
Precious Declaration
Where the River Flows
Add (Run) to your list
you people need to stop calling massively famous, underrated
literal monkey kid
@@deco9863 and Heavy
This band is so criminally underrated it's insane. I personally love these guys so many good songs in their catalog.
The world I know
Sister don't cry
Perfect day w elton John
Compliment
Run
She said
Forgiveness
Precious declaration
Why part 2
Ten years
Listen
December
Gel
Saw them in concert a couple of years ago - REALLY GOOD.
100% agree. I generally lean towards classic rock but I found Collective Soul through their songs December and Heavy. They have a great sound and intelligence in their lyrics. Not your average Alt band.
I had Collective Soul on my Podcast twice over the last few years. One of the BEST live band's in rock. They're still making great music and touring.
These guys were (are⊠theyâre still producing great albums) the best of post-grunge. The soundtrack of mid-90s summers.
Well said
Another band that doesn't get the love they deserve. Lots of great songs.
At 62, this was one of the very, very few that I actually like the WHOLE album! Not since the 70's!!!! đđâ€â€â€â€
Ive been watching you guys from almost the beginning and its cool to see Brad's transformation into liking rock and metal and becoming more and more open to different genre's!. As far as Lex goes, i think she's been a metalhead her whole life she just didnt know it. Lol Keep rocking guys!
MetaLex! đ€
Totally agree
MetaLex đ€
This is alternative rock. I just saw Collective Soul in concert last November. They put on a very good show and sound exactly like this in concert.
Where the river flows....The world I know....
December and Where the River Flows are both great songs from this band.đđ„đ€đ»đ€đ»
Deep Deep Rabbit hole with Collective Soul! WOOHOO!!!
Fun fact: The final release of this song was also their demo recording.
Fun Fact #2 - Somewhere in my attic is a demo copy CD that was part of the first promotional ones sent out to radio stations. Still love the whole album.
Played to a drum track no less
Now THAT is fuckin crazy. Cool to know.
Explains why the mix kind of sucks on it, haha. It's such a good song, but yeah, you can tell the recording's not as polished as it should be.
Fun fact: The singer wrote, played, and produced the album all by himself. The record company that signed him screwed him and he wasn't payed a penny.
Energy, The World I Know, A Good Place to Start, Fuzzy, Welcome All Again, Disiplined Breakdown, Listen, Blame, Heavy, Run, This, AYTA, Contagious, Reach, Breathe, Better Now, Counting The Days, etc etc, etc.. Lots and lots of good ones from Collective Soul.
Classic can't have a 90's collection without it
My wife's favorite band! We've seen them twice, but the first time was in a club, and we were right up front.
This was their first hit. It was the only song Iâd heard from them when I saw them in concert, opening for Aerosmith. They put on a great show and I was super impressed by their first big concert. I went out and bought their CD the next day! Lol!
Collective Soul had a lot of great catchy songs. I'd suggest "Gel" and "Precious Declaration"
Absolutely love Precious Declaration
"Gel" is one of my favorite songs! Brings me back to my high school days.
WHERE THE RIVER FLOWS is a must!!!
The first two CDâs we ever bought were Collective Soul. I absolutely adore them. âThe World I Have Knownâ is a very powerful music video.
*The World I Know.
Dolly Parton does a bluegrass cover of this song that is equally as good.
I need to hear it.
@@chrisa4695 Here it is: czcams.com/video/8e-Ip9RagkU/video.html
Yes, and it is awesome. It's a perfect demonstration of how genres we think are vastly different are really closely related.
@@bowtangey6830 Holy crap! That was great! I didn't even know that existed, and I love Dolly. ALL grunge fans need to hear that version just to see how all music can cross those genre lines! †it!
@@DivaInTheWoods Yeah, I was shocked when I first heard it, too.
December from Collective Soul is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Same!
I'm nearly 45 and this has been my favorite band since 93. Nobody seems to be reacting to Collective Soul. Keep going with CS. They have so many good songs.
Great band. Seen them multiple times in concert. Ed is a really solid vocalist and they deserved song of the year for this.
This song always brings me back to the heyday of 90's MTV (when they played music) because this music video was played A LOT! So all the people commenting that this band was underrated and didn't get the cred they deserved don't know what they're talking about. They actually got a ton of MTV and radio airplay back in the 90's.
Collective Soul has a number of great songs that are good simple vibes.
My favs:
Shine
Bearing Witness
Hollywood
Good Morning After All
Adored
Bragging! I was fortunate to see Collective Soul LIVE here in South Africa way back at the Coca Cola Colab Concert ...with Metallica as the main act later the evening! Priceless memories!
LOVE Collective Soul! "Dosage" was one of the best albums of the 90s! You REALLY need to do "Heavy", which is one of those crank-up-to-11 song! "Run" and "Words" are also phenomenal (if softer) songs. "Better Now" is a banger, too.
Dosage is absolutely underrated for sure
Dosage is a great album in every way!
Nothing can be more 90's than Collective Soul đ
If you liked this, check out Collective Soul: "December." You might also like "Where the River Flows" and "The World I Know."
Pretty much that whole album is a banger.
Why Pt. 2
Yeah great album!
All 3 of these!
Why pt.2, run, gel, and PRECIOUS DECLARATION
This whole album is a chill groove rock vibe. One of the first CDs I owned.
Collective Soul was some of that awesome music you wanted to hear come on the radio in the summer in the 90s and just feel good.
Great band - they kept going and have been releasing a ton of awesome new music through the years. Here are some other cool songs of theirs from the 90s though: "Gel", "Smashing Young Man", "Listen", "Heavy", and "Why Pt. 2". A very good modern song of theirs is "Contagious".
âYouthâ and âBloodâ albums are great.
Great underrated band. I remember seeing them in the clubs around Atlanta when they were called âMarching Two Stepâ right before they hit it big. Nice guys too
the world i know, december, long way to run, and for lex and the hard guitar vibe....where the river flows awesome reaction glad ya'll are getting into collective soul
They are all sons of preachers: Collective Soul
One of the rock songs from the 90s. Collectivity Soul has many great songs to react.
Nobody can explain & describe things like Lex can,
I always get tickled at the way she has that unique & special way that only she has.
One of my brothers friends was the bassist Will Turpin. I actually got to hang out with him and my brothers friends band, such an awesome dude. We did this a couple times, he even taught me a bit on playing bass in the short period of time we had. The video for this song was actually recorded in Stockbridge, GA behind a school.
Precious Declaration by these guys is a banger.
Always liked the guitar tone of CS. Never bought one their albums, but enjoyed their songs on the radio and they had a lot of hits playing on the radio in the 90"s.
They came on to the scene at the tail end of the grunge movement.
This entire album is FIRE! The album is Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. That was the anthem to my freshmen college year! Collective Soul has had a lot of great hits and albums, but this first one is one I pull out all the time and just listen to from beginning to end!
They have some great tunes.......
Everyone in the car: "Yea.......Yea"
Mid 90's lots and lots of FM Radio play. Collective soul had a big local following in Georgia , this hit song was their intro in the main stream.
Love it! Seven Mary Three's "Cumbersome" comes to mind with this feel good 90s vibe
This song has special significance for me. Leaving the hospital after my mother died, this song came on the car radio.
For someone who grew up in the 80s, define "vibe" because I hear that in reaction videos all the time about songs that have absolutely nothing in common
I used to play this on the radio in the early 90s. One of my favorites!
I've seen these guys live more than once in the 90s. Awesome performance every time.
Massively underrated overlooked band, I'll throw Crowded Head into the mix of recommendations.
Ah, the early 90s. Those were a great time
Love Collective Soul. They are still rocking out today and putting out good music. Do more CS please.
Saw Collective Soul open for Big Head Todd & The Monsters a few years ago at Red Rocks outside of Denver. I've loved them for years and they ROCKED! 10,000 people singing their songs back to them! They were as good as I hoped!
Indeed, we are a collective soul. That is who we are.
They love the 90âs the most, with some here & there scattered from the 80âs, 70âs, and 60âs
Definitely more Collective Soul!
I love Collective Soul. They were 90s rock. Best description. It was either grunge or alternative the dominated the radio stations.
My favorite song by them is "World I know" Very heartfelt deep powerful song.
The World I Know is an amazing song. I highly suggest watching the music video.
One of my favorite bands to come out of the 90s! Catchy pop rock with heart and positivity.
I remember when this song came out I bought the album on cassette and went to a house party and snuck this song on and the house went bananas. I miss the 90's.
This is probably CS's most popular song. I recently saw these guys in concert and they played this song 2nd in the show. Then the rest of the show were songs you completely forgot about but well remember- Where The River Flows, December, The World I Know..etc..
In my opinion Possibly the most Underrated Guitarist in Ross Childressđžđž.
Collective Soul was never the same without him. Fantastic Live Band. đ€đ
Another Great Atlanta band!
Gotta say they can do it live too. Made a lot of great music. I had a brand new Honda Civic when I bought this album and almost busted the speakers with it and the rest of the 90s music. đ
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM Such a perfect mix of soft and hard!!!!! Loved this song from the very second I first heard it. It's probably my favorite grunge song.
Peace
You have to watch the version of this song live from Woodstock 94...about half a million people singing along to it...was absolutely amazing. I was there, it was an existential experience.
Brad in the truck secretly vibing to a rock song -- I like it! đ
Heavy is a MUST DO đ„đ€âïž
They Labeled it Alternative. What it was. Was a return to hard rock, and gave us great bands like this and Bush, Creed, POD, Godsmack, Live, 3 doors down, Disturbed and others.
Gel is my fave from this band. Great songs no matter which one you pick.
I remember when this song came out . I was like "wow" ! Ok I won't to hear more from this band â€ïž
Thanks Brad and thanks Lex!
Collective Soul is one of those rabbit holes that will absolutely surprise you!
They're pseudo christian rock, and they are amazing!
You see it in a LOT of the comments...
THE WORLD I KNOW is probably their most 'popular' track but their anthology is FULL of great music.
Pick any 'album' and you can find 4 legit great songs.
No $hit!
So glad you liked it, been one of my favs for almost 3 decades, timeless lyrics
This album was huge in the 90s. I still have it in my CD collection and listen to it. It's all seriously over-compressed as a lot of late 90's rock was, but the whole album is really good. As others have pointed out, The World I Know, is a particularly good song from the album.
This song was popular when I was 18 or so. Fun to drive to!!!
'Til Tuesday "Voices Carry"
Man there soooo many songs you can pick from these guys. One of my all time favorite bands
Collective Soul has a lot of good songs...đ» Gel, The World I know, Run....and lots more.
If asked âWhat band had the most radio airplay in the â90s?â, you might say Nirvana, or Pearl Jam, or Green Day. But youâd be incorrect. This band.
Needs, Counting the Days, Better Now, Precious Declaration, She Said, Compliment, The World I Know, Home, Satellite--Great discography from this band.
I grew up on that 90s grunge. I grew up and forgot all about these groups and songs. So it's kind of nice feeling like I'm rediscovering with you "youngins"
Yay!! The whole Dosage album was killer
Greatest Christian rock band of all time
God i have always loved the riffs in this song. The hooks are so good you cant help but sing
This song is definitely one of my 90s soundtracks songs⊠a definite time and place and vibe for sure
Lived in Georgia where Collective Soul originated. Had to drive all the way to Fort Worth, Texas to see them in concert.
My son was young maybe 16 playing this he found them for me ? It's been on my playlist for years great band !
when lex says "ohhh" you know the best air guitar you've ever seen is about to come out.
They were my first concert lol. They opened for creed actually.. they sounded so good and put on a good show
They flogged this song on commercial radio when it first came out i was working in a workshop and when the Yeah bit part came it was often heard being yelled out loud for all to hear
Where the river flows is another good song by collective soul
Huge Hit. âShineâ was the #1 Album Rock Song of 1994, and, also reached #1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart for 8-weeks.
They were a huge band for a minute.
Thank the heavens that there is more than enough ROCK in Lexs soule to carry them both. you rock Lex, keep it up chic.
Check out âSimpleâ for one of Collective Soulâs heaviest/guitar-laden songs. Great riff.
(Donât put the volume TOO high if listening on headphones).
This was the first CD I bought with my own money when I got a CD player for Christmas. I thought my CD player was defective for about 20 seconds, and then holy shit, the song kicked it. I woke up the whole house, haha.
Total classic. These guys have so many great songs
Classic 90's
I`ve seen them live twice...the first time at the Sun City Superbowl in South Africa (Queen played there) and at a tiny venue in Manchester UK called The Academy, both times they blew my hair back!
They just don`t turn it down no matter where they play or who they play to!
