What about the A Better Routeplanner app for non-Tesla EV road trips? Can you do a video on that if you think it's a worthy companion, or a video on why you think it's not necessary?

Ok Max thanks for the added information on charging companies and how to find them great advice. Out of Spec channels are making the transition to EVs more fun and informative keep them coming all you Out of Spec EV nerds.
You can't talk EV apps without discussing ABRP. Yes even for Tesla drivers.
A dedicated video on route planning is in the works!
I wish the apps were just pre loaded in the car, or you could download the apps to the car / can use them right from the car's infotainment system.
Chargeway is also helptul. It is like plugshare, but the way it shows how fast chargers are and customizing it to your car can be handy.

Good info! I learned a few things.
EV Connect is needed if you're going to charge at GM dealers. Many EV certified GMC & Cadillac dealers have a 50 kW ABB DCFC that is on the EV Connect network. That isn't obvious though, as most don't show up on the map within the app.
Volta will likely be redundant shortly, as the company was bought by Shell Recharge. I imagine they will be merging the two.
Even if it feels old fashioned, I've found my ChargePoint and Shell RFID cards useful on occasion when 5G service is flaky or something else is happening. Good to have as a backup.
also many of the FreeWire chargers use EV Connect. They are getting more and more popular at gas stations.

Out of Spec should create their own app that combines ABRP with all the charger providers to be able to activate and monitor your charge session with all the charging details.

im convinced the main reason a group is resistant to change for evs, is both this app ecosystem, and math.....
