    The pig-tailed second vocalist is Miku Kobato ("small pigeon"). She was the one who came up with the idea for a band that wore cute maid outfits while playing cool rock music. After the guitarist, drummer and bassist joined the band in a sort of invitation chain reaction, it was decided that they needed a lead singer whose voice better matched the kind of music they wanted to play. Miku periodically gets a song to sing lead on -- about one per album.

    “The song that saved the band.”
    The record label had already planned to drop Band Maid after this one video…however…
    A JRock Facebook group highlighted this “Thrill” of a song and video and it went viral. Within a year it hit one million views and the Maids thought they had been hacked. Nope. Everyone really loves you, Band Maid! ❤

    Miku, the girl with the twin tails and red rose, was in an underground idol group before starting BAND-MAID. She also has a side project called cluppo where she is the lead singer. She does sing lead on some BAND-MAID songs and she brings a lot of creativity to her role as backing vocalist.

    Band-Maid would not now exist if "Thrill" didn't get the response they did from a foreign radio station that played a J-Rock format and put this song on for airplay. They got over 2 million hits on the song and video in 2 weeks. The record company probably said, "Wait, we might have something here!" The rest is history. Over ten years later, Band-Maid is going strong intact (how many rock bands can say that) and is still rocking the world with their music. Alexa, the more you react to Band-Maid, the more subscribers you'll get from so many of us old geezers (and others) who love this band because they have re-invigorated our love for rock and roll (no necessarily because of the kawaii element of their costumes). Simply put, these five young Japanese female musicians are so gifted and creative.

    Pigtails is Miku, founder of the band and former Maid Cafe worker. She didn't know how to play the guitar back then!
    Lead guitarist Konami taught her well!

    Saiki sings, “I turn my earphones up. Nothing can beat the ecstasy of living with this Thrill.” And Miku sings, “A pigeon traces an arc in the shrunken sky.” No matter what song you're listening to, with Band-Maid the surprises and thrills ain't never gone. 🤘😉Thx, Alexa!

    Miku Kobato had only been studying the guitar for a few months when this video was shot. She's mostly just using her guitar as a prop here.
    This is the only Band-Maid Music Video in which bassist MISA is wearing a coordinating maid costume, and one of only a few in which she is wearing shoes.

    This is where it started for them. The video that went viral and made them rock stars worldwide. Miku, the pigtail girl is usually backup singer but she does take lead in some songs. This is the first version of the maid outfits except for Saiki, the lead singer who took her apron off after the first live show they ever did and has never worn one since. Great reaction. Cheers

    Still one of my faves! ♥ I suggest these BM songs: Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
    I also suggest The Warning - another all female band from Mexico.
    I suggest these TW songs: Money, Disciple, Sick, Automatic Sun, Enter Sandman (official video with Alessia Cara) & Evolve (live VMAs)
    BTW - both bands are big fans of each other!

    Alexa , This was BAND-MAID`s 1st MV from 2014 , it went viral n saved BAND-MAID from being dropped by there label and got BAND-MAID a large overseas fan base of Miadiacs and on the road to World Domination , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , please keep going down the BAND-MAID Pigeon hole .

  • @jaedo6180

    Oh, thank gawd!
    I get irritated when a reactor will mention the last video but not the title of the song!
    Domination, got it!
    This was the video that saved the band!
    Label was gonna pull the plug if this song didn't do well.
    Thankfully, a J-rock Facebook group posted it on their page, and it blew up! 10+ years later, still going strong!
    Oldie, I suggest Real Existence. Or latest, Bestie, co-written with Mike Einziger from Incubus.

    Welcome back to the BandMaid experience. The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts:
    •Bass solos are more likely to happen than not
    •Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be
    •Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen.
    •Genre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre!
    •You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that.
    •April Fools Day 2019
    As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect. MV is stunningly beautiful.
    •The linchpin member of the band gets the least notice/praise. The Mighty Miku Kobato founder/lead singer steps back to make way for a new more hard rock vocalist. They want her to hold a guitar so she does and learns to play on the fly, performing all the while she's learning. So the person who willed the band into existence, who is the primary lyricist, the only member who sings and plays an instrument most of the time gets the least comments from reactors. Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yrs)
    •There is no "I" in BANDMAID. Well ok there is one "I" but my point is the songs are written by BandMaid. Not just Kanami Tono. The highly innovative bass and drum lines are created by Akane and MISA. There are no George songs and John&Paul songs. There are only BandMaid songs.
    •10 plus years with the same line up. Think about that.
    •More hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole.
    •Use of puns, wordplay using homophones between Japanese and English are not the exception. They are typical of Kobato's lyrics.
    •Despite the fact that their LIVE videos are superior to the official studio MV"s the latter are excellent. Funny, graphic, innovative and stunningly beautiful works of art describe what you get with BandMaid's official MV's.
    •As close to the Beatles in terms of unique persona of the members as any group since the Monkees. MISA is quiet and drinks. Akane is happy and eats, Miku is klutzy and CUTE, Kanami is an airhead who crushes on Saiki and Saiki was the Ice Queen. But the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed. See Yokohama's Endless Story! Their image is carefully crafted or spontaneous or both.
    •Many songs have catch phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese.Most songs are full of joy as well.
    •They're having a ball. They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other.
    •Make no mistake, this is not a regular band.

    There is a song on the Band-Maid channel with Miku singing alone. It is Sayonakidori (acoustic version) with just Akane (drums) and MISA (bass) accompanying her. czcams.com/video/sGzAQigaL14/video.html She sings it with electric guitar in concerts. The high note near the end always gets a cheer from the audience. A couple other songs are "Time" czcams.com/video/1bTUY4uk9vc/video.html and "Rock In Me" czcams.com/video/wni9gi5mjyc/video.html (not on their channel).

      @rolandkarlsson7072 Před 2 měsíci +1

    • @stevehall5128
      @stevehall5128 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@rolandkarlsson7072It's a "rule," but a tongue-in-cheek one that's become a fun fan tradition. Kanami's "speaking" in this case refers to the lyrical quality of her guitar solos.
      ETA: When Kanami gets going about something she's enthusiastic about (like Saiki), the others have to rein her back in 😊

    • @toshimatyu6654
      @toshimatyu6654 Před 2 měsíci

      There are no rules for BAND-MAID, and they probably wouldn't ask their fans to do so. If there was anything, it would be about asking each other not to fight. I find it strange that a logo on a T-shirt made by a fan is a requirement. What's important is that the reactor gives a sincere reaction.

    • @rolandkarlsson7072
      @rolandkarlsson7072 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@stevehall5128 Ah, you mean the rule to never stop in the middle of a solo? Actually, I am the wrong guy here. I think you can stop anywhere, if you have a good reason to. Reactions is all about giving something to the listener. There are no limits what you can do, if you do just that. There are very good reactors that do stop in solos and tell intricate details about the solo. Of course, if you want to enforce that rule strongly, then you will always hate stops in solos. Bu that is then your problem.

    • @uffdad8211
      @uffdad8211 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@rolandkarlsson7072 There is nothing wrong with letting the solo play out and then going back to describe whatever details in it that make it interesting, exciting, emotional and so on while replaying it a second time. However, many think that it is rude or in bad taste to interrupt an artist's solo without letting them fully play it out. It's like someone being abruptly interrupted in midsentence while they were trying to make an important point or someone loudly talking in a theater during a critical scene. Sure, there is no law against it, but it is annoying as hell to most people.

      I'm a Maidiac and a Band-Maid snob.
      Do not mention other bands as they don't exist while I'm listening to Band-Maid.
