Mitch is under the sheet like it’s a cocoon. He’s undergoing metamorphosis and when he breaks out, he’s changed into a better, more complete version of himself. That’s also why he sings the lyrics that he does, about leaving the confined version of himself in the past to discover who he can be going forward.
That's an interesting take on that! I like it. I've always thought the sheet represented restrictiveness and sorrow. He's sad because everything is obscured and he can't move freely. Kirstin is stuck inside while it's raining outside. The first half of the song is a desire to be happy because they are not... yet. And then the chorus hits and kaboom! Color and sunshine and freedom. Love it.
Yes, it's an original! And my interpretation is that it starts out in greyscale to represent the feelings after a breakup, then adds color as they begin to be happy again. So great to see you again, Barry! We've missed you!❤
Think of Mitch's veiled look as a chrysalis before it changes to become a beautiful, colourful butterfly. A representation of feelings just after a break-up and the blossoming once the realiztion that one is free and can be happy again.
I forgot to add that Scott released a video of Bubs a couple of days ago. It's on his CZcams channel..scotthoying. It was shot in Iceland at the same time as Four and Parallel from his ep, Parallel.
I believe that the unique usage of the veil (over Mitch) to represent being closed off to happiness really emphasizes the barrier the mind can play in one's pursuit of happiness.

Welcome back!! I know it is difficult to get videos cleared, especially the way you do them, which I love.
It is easy to get caught up in the "happy," but what it is really about is allowing yourself to be happy after a loss. Many times, we feel guilty about feeling happy when we have lost someone. This is about allowing yourself to move thru the grief and back to life.
Scott being alone, Kirstie with the rain, Mitch with the veil all represent drowning in grief.....then they let the color back in.
It is a beautiful message done in a beautiful way.
Now I understand the meaning. I lost my husband just over a year ago. I've been staying home a lot, but I'm not ready to get out and live yet by myself. This song will mean something for me now whenever I hear it.
To me the sheet over Mitch was when he tried to hide who he was which is why he was happy and “left that in the past”. Excellent fair recent original. Welcome back, my Barry.

To answer your question Barry, I've seen Pentatonix live concerts twice, the Christmas show and their regular show. Both were fantastic, and I highly recommend that everyone who has the opportunity GO! You won't be disappointed!!🎵🎶🎶

I loved the summer concert I attended. Scott is a personality that is very entertaining. Surprisingly Mitch is very quiet.
Mitch doesn’t play the crowd like Scott, Matt, and Kevin do. That’s how I know that he isn’t the reincarnation of Freddie Mercury. Freddie practically invented playing the crowd.

They're all somewhat obscured at the beginning of the video, with shadows, water droplets on a mirror, camera angles, or a veil, and they all come more into the open as the song progresses, moving into the future and claiming their own happiness.
I love this song. "Is it okay to dance like I'm about to?" What a great line! It says "I'm going to dance regardless of what anyone thinks; is that okay?" when the only person who can actually answer that question is the one who's just said that he's going to dance.
Yes, it's always okay to heal after you've been injured. Sometimes we just need a reminder of that fact.

The use of black and white in the beginning, then adding in color bursts, is a visual compliment to the message of the song.

Great original song and video! To me the song is about moving on to happiness after experiencing a loss. And as the video moves from dark, black and white to color, each of them begins to smile and show happiness again. Love it! Thank you Barry for bringing this video and reaction to us.💖

I saw them in September in Dallas. It was brilliant the stadium was full and everyone was excited. The group bring an energy that they are happy doing what they love🎉🎉

I 😍 this song. It starts in black & white to represent depression from a loss (death of/separation from a loved one? romantic breakup?) but then moves to full color with them all dressed up to go out clubbing, ready to start living fully again. They break away from what's been holding them back.

Welcome back, and thanks for continuing with PTX! Not to discourage you in ANY way … but if you want the concert you attend to be a full-on celebration with your fellow Pentaholics, maybe wait for a regular tour instead of one of their Christmas tours. From what I’ve read over the years, their Christmas shows tend to draw a more reserved audience who want everyone to sit down and appreciate the music. And, while not discounting the whole chrysalis theory for Mitch, I think he just likes to hide a bit and cultivate a little mystery. Loved your reaction, as always! Peace …

I've seen them 3 times all in Adelaide Australia in 2016, 2020 (tour cancelled just after this due to Covid) and in 2023. My dream is to see them doing a Christmas show in the US

Did you know that there's a train station (Penn Station) beneath Madison Square Garden. When I was going to a show at Madison Square Garden I'd just take the train from New Jersey and go upstairs. So convenient!

I saw them live last year !!!! OMG they were amazing
Love this one, and yes I have seen them live march last year, and it was their first time to Western Australia. I took my daughter along with me, and everything about the concert was awesome ❤
I had the opportunity to see them live back in August of 2019,and it was absolutely fantastic! If you want to hear another original from this album (The Lucky Ones), check out the song Love me When I Don't. It's my personal favorite of theirs.

I have only been able to see them once live back in 2015 when Avi was in the Band. It was phenomanal. I was deeply touched and their voices live were even better, especially Avi's deep Bass was unbelivable good!

Thanks for the reaction. I’ve been to 2 Christmas shows and one summer show. They are only doing a handful of shows this year. None are close to me. I wish I had been a fan back in the day when you could actually meet them at VIP. Maybe one day it will go back to that.

This was so powerful during pandemic. Iqt was horrible for so many but for my family it was good. Hubby and i both kept working in essential jobs, son did very well for online school

I think I heard somewhere the director of the video had an idea of Mitch being a butterfly about to emerge from their cocoon. It's also interesting that this apparently came out after Coffee in Bed even though you can see from their hair and beard lengths that this was filmed earlier. At least if you measure time by Mitch hair-do's.

Hi Barry! Love your videos…I saw them live last year in Australia and they were super AMAZING, I was blown away and even had a tear or two. Mitch I’ve always loved, he hit every note!
