- The Flyers are never done. On Tuesday, Danny Briere re-signed the most-talked-about the 27-year-old backup goaltender in the league, Ivan Fedotov for what seems like a boatload of cash.

Bill, Flyers pay 1.75M to D-Lo.
They also do pay 5M to an AHL goalie and 3,6M to a player who plays in the Western Conference.
Compared to this, 3,25M for basically the best goalie in Eastern Europe (that still is his reputation) in the UFA role doesn't seem that bad. It's a fair contract.
Seems like his drafting was irrelevant except we had his rights if that makes sense. He got paid like a former khl best goalie 21-22, khl champ, gold medalist UFA. It is what it is
Also huge pet peeve. Why do people (fans and podcasters) always just assume we can sign the random UFA ie: stolarz. Maybe He’s got 32 teams who might want to sign him. Maybe he wants nothing to do with Philly. If he signs for the same amount as fedotov somewhere you can’t be critical of management for not signing him. It’s illogical
Fedotov will be fine....He came here without any equipment or real ice time or experience in NHL rinks. He won the silver medal in the 2022 Olympics and played awesome. 27 years old is prime age for a world class goaltender.
I met Dave (sign guy) at a game in 2019 and he was the nicest guy. Spent an hour hanging with him before the game and it was so awesome. I look for him all the time now watching Philly.
I am more than happy to pay for 2 years of trying Fedotov who could prove to be a great NHL goalie. Anybody crying over 3mil~ a year on potential is being unreasonable.

I like the pairing of Ersson/Fedotov better if it is more of a split. Ersson seems better in short bursts and Fedotov needs time to develop in NHL. Could be a down season while they work it out but that is good for 2025 Draft. Either way it looks promising and I will try to remain optimistic. 🤞
They have the cap and his contract ends before mitchkov comes over so if it’s a bad deal it doesn’t even matter
It doesn’t hurt the flyers if they’re rebuilding. If contending it would be totally different. Cap is not a worry at the moment, 2 yrs is not a huge commitment, fedotov wanted more years - phi kept it to two. His potential is immense I’m fine with the deal. Let him have a full year in NA with a full camp, getting used to the nhl style and angles. Plus do you guys really want to see Petersen/Sandstrom again!?!? I didn’t think so. It’s going to be fine, relax people.
If he turns out to be really good, we could trade him as well.
Are we writing Carter Hart off? I have yet to read anywhere why he cannot play hockey. No innocent until proven guilty in Canada? Most people awaiting litigation carry on with their lives in the meantime.

Kolosov will be a 22 year old AHL rookie. Obviously they're not going to throw him into 60 games in the NHL, that'd be stupid.
Ersson was better than Hart through to January this past season, so that's also just a dumb argument.

This chick is delusional. The KHL is like the AHL and there are plenty of elite AHL goalies who would flop hard in the NHL. Fedotov looked like a beer league goalie in his 3 games in the NHL.

Is Johansen that much of a cancer? The guy is only two years removed from a 60 pt season. Couldn’t Torts and him co-exist for 50 games and then trade him to a contender at the deadline for some more draft capital? Seems a waste of an asset.
