It is fascinating to see all the new innovations in wearable low vision technology. I just hope that in the near future they are able to make these devices less conspicuous and bulky. Can't imagine walking outside looking like Robocop haha. Keep up the good work with your channel, Sam.
LOL you’re absolutely right! I didn’t think about it at the time but now that you mention it, that visor does totally look like Robocop, LOL!
I think the option to toggle between 2D and 3D , plus the knobs to fine tune the intrapupillary distance, really makes this stand out. My eyes can get tired quickly, and they don't always play well together under magnification, so I find the ability to choose which eye a real plus. Great first impression, glad to hear companies are starting to try out larger screens and builds to offset heat issues.
I love new technology for the visually impaired
I liked this video. You do a good job with all your videos. Keep up the hard work.
The outline view would probably be great for my job in the floral department. It probably would make the outlines of flower stems more visible when arranging. But for all around use, I'm still thinking the IrisVision and trying to raise the money to get it.
Okay I haven't used mine in a while because mine was malfunctioning or least I think it was malfunctioning so I'm going to have it looked at and repaired and I'm going to give her a good another solid try... I think it'll be good for what I intend to use it for.
It looks like an interesting product though! ☺️
Update. Got to try the newer version again at home and despite my early problems with it seem to have gotten it working fine works okay for standing still and looking around and doing tasks that you would normally do with the video magnifier before my distance. However, unless you adjust the brightness on your television and mess with the brightness settings on the headset it does not work on a television very well and I even think that even with adjusting the brightness on a television it is not work well for watching it. So not all bad but most 3 out of five I wouldn't pay out of pocket for one of these would be an older version or the newer version but if you have a company that will get one for you and pay for it that's worth trying. Don't spend that much money out of your pocket until they either come down in price or until they have a better solution for the same price.
The glasses look like cyclops is visor from excellent pretty cool
They look like drone FPV goggles. The clear visor seems more aesthetic than practical. I agree, it does look a little bit too unwieldy for everyday prolonged use. Now if they can shrink it down to the Google Glass form factor...
Looking at this for my dad and grandpa. Price?
Try one of these out about 6 months ago and the basic test went okay. Update I got one a couple weeks ago and I'm not sure if it's me or the machine but seems to be on the fritz turns off way before when it's supposed to and doesn't filter color very well. It also does not seem to be very useful for watching television either. Only good for certain circumstances so far and the one I have seems to be a piece of junk. Will be trying a brand new one fairly soon hopefully it's just the device that I happen to have already is a lemon and that the next one I try out is a good one. Will keep you updated but for right now I don't recommend anyone wasting their money on these just use regular video magnifier or video magnifier app on your phone for basic stuff it can be used for viewing things if you are in a stationary position but it seems to have trouble with certain types of lighting. Like I said it could be the device that I happen to get when I try out a brand new one fresh out of the box we shall see. Until then I don't recommend people waste their money on this product or the e-sight either. I think a big problem with these products is that they aren't doing enough testing with a variety of people with different visual problems and taking their input seriously. That are the simple charging too much for something that should be a very simple device or their skimping on the parts and pieces they could use and still overcharging for something that does very little. I will keep everyone updated when I get to try out a new one.
HEY SAM.
AWESOME REVIEW!! HAVE YOU TRIED TO WALK WITH THIS PRODUCT? LOOKS REALLY AWESOME AND A REALLY NEAT PRODUCT.
THANKS AGAIN SAM FOR ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO!! TAKE CARE MY FRIEND. UNTIL NEXT TIME.
Yes, I was able to walk around without any problems. Now, that being said, I don’t have central vision and use my peripheral vision so it’s easier for me to have something blocking my vision in front of me but still maneuver around using peripheral. But either way, these are definitely the easiest ones to walk around with.
Thanks for doing these reviews. Would you ever consider having another person join you reviewing? I have RP and it be great to hear how products work for someone with central sight. I'd be happy to help out!
That’s a very interesting idea. We should definitely continue discussing it although I’m not sure how the logistics would work. How I could get the product to you, etc. would you record yourself and send the video to me for editing? That sort of thing
@@theblindlife Perhaps have the product maker send them? Or if you have them, send once you have several and I can do several reviews to send your way. With regard to the videos, I think that is easily done either by me recording at specs you want then sharing with you via dropbox. I can make sure about quality and let you cut up and use that best fits. That said, I can also create a channel and promote each other. Im happy to discuss logistics anytime.
These devices are amazing. My only problem is that they are very expensive. And sometimes I think I should just wait a little longer because this technology is evolving so rapidly. Example, with flexible screens these devices can get much smaller. Your thoughts? Also, how would you compare this to IrisVision or NuEyes?
Jason, that’s a very common concern. With technology changing so quickly, people are often times hesitant to pull the trigger. My usual answer to that is that you are very correct. But I would much rather spend this year seeing all the cool things I could see by using one of these devices than waiting for what might come out next year. Regarding the flexible screens, it may be a few years before we see any assistive technology utilizing that.
Hi Mr.Sam Thank you for your briefs.
I need to ask you, Is it for Blind people or people that have normal
Eye sight. Can you clarify for me please.
This is for people with low vision or partial site. It digitally enhances what you see to make it easier. It’s like electronic binoculars.
And in the street light?
Can you go from your house to outside, how it reacts to the light?
I m left eye blind, and and low vision 1/10) right eye, I m looking in irisvision and esight, also… I’m in Portugal and I need brightness and contrast also zoom.
Tks
You have so many videos. I'm trying to look for a product to help my friend who has low vision. He is slowly becoming fully blind. What product would you recommend.
That’s a very big question. All of these products are task dependent meaning that it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Are you looking for something for your friend to use for reading, navigation, watching TV, seeing peoples faces while having a conversation with them? Unfortunately, there aren’t very many products that can do all of these things. It also depends on your friends current and future level of vision. I would recommend getting in touch with a low vision center in your area. They would be able to sit down with your friend and do an evaluation to determine what would be most helpful for them.
How with new and improved cell shading!
My mother has age related macular, one wet, one dry do you think she will be able to thread a needle and quilt
One question I have every time I watch your reviews; does this product work with prescription glasses? You may not need prescription glasses, but many do, and the complexity of having a device work with glasses may be a deal breaker. For example, a VR headset works no problem with prescription glasses, but does this one works?
That’s a very good question and I’ll try to get the answer for you. I’ll also start mentioning that in future reviews for all of those who wear glasses.
Night I did get a blue version or red version of that by this device because blue is the same colour is my eyes and I like red red is my favourite colour
I live in Portland, Oregon.. it rains a lot here.. are these waterproof..?
how does it compare with Iris vision?
How are the screens inside is it bigger than the new eyes or east side or is it about the same?
Yes, in my experience it has a larger field of you than both of those devices.
@@theblindlife yeah that's awesome I watched your video end that's really awesome. I've used in you eyes and I actually own the new eyes and I don't care for them to be honest with you do you really really really hot and in my experience using them the camera is not the best it takes forever to focus
The zoomax website appears not to be loading, and I keep timing out. Could be my connection anyone else having problems?
They did tell me that I had the wrong information in the description. It’s correct now so you could try again and hopefully it will work for you.
HEY SAM.
HAVE YOU TRIED WALKING AROUND WITH THIS DEVICE? WHAT WAS YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT AND HOW WELL DID IT WORK? THANKS.
You can definitely walk around in familiar areas while wearing the headset. I wouldn’t recommend walking around downtown or something like that. You’re using your peripheral vision while wearing it to see what’s around you.
My dad has advanced keratoconus would this work for him or is there something better?
Hey Sam, have you done a review on the mojo by enhanced vision?
It isn't on the Enhanced Vision website. Maybe it was discontinued.
No, sure haven’t.
I can’t help but think about the evil monkey from the power Puff girls, Mojo Jojo! LOL did you know I’m secretly a 12-year-old boy? LOL!
do you get dizzy moving your head, I cut hair, how does this work, do I have to be zooming in and out, how is your sight when you remove them,
No, I don’t get dizzy at all. Also, some people who are prone to motion sickness might feel a little queasy moving their head around quickly. It doesn’t bother me at all though. As far as zooming in and out to cut hair, I’m not sure. I guess that would be completely up to you and what you would need in that situation. Depending on your level of vision, you may be able to zoom out and have a wider field of you to do the job. Then again, you may need to zoom in, just not sure. Vision is fine whenever I take them off, no problems there.
How would these be for reading music sheets?
I imagine they would work pretty well. Depends on how close you would need to magnify.
As a LHON patient i think the new headset is useful to a huge extent
But its not great for outdoor uses
Peoples are gonna think that i am a new android project or something
is it good for people with Retinitis pigmentosa thanks you
It will depend on your level of vision and field of you. I would definitely recommend trying it if you have the opportunity.
Can you walk with this on? And what if you head shakes a bit at times?
If you have decent peripheral vision then you would be able to walk around while wearing the headset. It also has image stabilization built-in that would help reduce shaking
Is this the only wearable device with adjustable brightness? My biggest issue is nightblindness.
I know the iris vision allows you to adjust the brightness as well. Not sure about the other wearables though.
So this is auto focus??? How cool. How much is it
So whats the 2D option for?
I am assuming it’s for people who have one eye that is stronger than the other and causes issues while looking through devices like this.
Can this be used if you see only shadows due to glacuama
It only magnifies division you currently have. So if you only see shadows then you will still only see shadows even if you are using the device. It doesn’t really improve vision at all just magnifies distant objects.
The Blind Life hi, I have a similiar question: my grandmother has end stage glaucoma & suddenly lost lots of sight in her strong eye. She’s sees shadows sometimes, but can make out colors & big letters & numbers, but not faces. I’d like her to be able to atleast see TV. Which devices you’d recommend. I’ve watched all your vids but can’t figure out which one. Thanks ! You rock !
Is this better than the Iris Vision? I’ve got central vision loss
You
Also, do you think the Iris vision is still the best device for people with central vision loss so far? If the AceVision isn’t as good as it I mean
That’s really an impossible question to answer since these devices work differently for different people. Iris vision works much better than this one for me but it might not for you.
The Blind Life I’ve found the Iris really good. Haven’t tried anything better than it yet so far. Is it the best device you’ve used?
Man i wish i could afford one of these low vision tech. As I'm from a third world country, these tech costs about twice my annual salary.
Can i work on computer with these head gears
I believe it would work for that but you would need to try to know for sure.
@@theblindlife In your specific case, are you able to read easily with them?
Similar to esight3 but still not something that would work for me but as you say everyone is different
did you try it outside?? Wondering how it works in the bright light
I didn’t trade outside, however I did try it in a convention hall with very bright lights. The screens were surprisingly easy to see in bright light situations. That being said, the image is a little washed out, not much contrast.
I would love something that's discrete and doesn't stick out so much.
Sam, with your sight does it help you? I have less than 6/60 vision with a field of view of 15 degrees and less than 5% vision in total with blind spots etc so I’d be keen to know if it works for you, feel free to find me on Facebook my name is Justin jones
No, this particular one didn’t work very well for me because the screens were too small. Didn’t have a large enough field of you.
Have you found any technology that does help you
Have you tried Esight? It looks like a knockoff
Yes, I have several videos on esite. Unfortunately it does not work for me.
Depth perception requires two functional or partially functional eyes.. Depth is detected by the distance perceived by Each eye individually.. if you are monocular, this cannot help with depth.. Your statement and that feature need further explanations
Acesight is $3k.. is this equipped with a USB rechargeable batteries.. ?
can oder?
Don't like the design too big amd clunky ...good features though
