  • Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! While the video and audio wasn't the best, hearing Pau talk about the story behind it and how she doesn't like to give away the story due to wanting people to interpret it however they need it in the moment was worth every bit.
Title: Black Holes (Don't Hold On) - Aqua Fria

    Jealousy is a cruel mistress.
I love the idea of having a patron. It means that what an artist does has moved others to give willingly of themselves, in order to make sure art is furthered.

It gives a little insight into why TWA is so quick to defend these young ladies. Regardless of the gifts it is their years of practice, drive and talent that gives them their sound but it is their character that makes them outstanding people. Unlike many artists these ladies are someone that are worth supporting.

Agua Fria was in May 2018, so Pau was 16. Big difference in voice quality between 13-year-old Tiny Pau and the more mature Not-Quite-So-Tiny Pau. The criticisms I've heard are so petty: "they were given their instruments," "their parents are well off," "they only get attention because of their looks," "they sing in English." WTF, get a life, trolls.

Their father sold his motorcycle to buy them their first Instruments. He sacrificed for his children's dreams. Not many parents would do that. Their patents are not wealthy, yet!

They are in Mexico singing along. Music transcends and is a true bridge. I discovered the Warning this year and enjoy watching their beginnings playing small venues and found a video where they played in free concert in my hometown 6 years ago. Kick my self in the butt for not checking them out.

The power of The Warning is evident. The fans in South America sing along in english while the fans in North America sing along when they play their spanish songs. They have earned my respect.

The girls have worked extremely hard to build the talent and skill that they have, that some out there saw this hard work and talent and decided to gift them their instruments is a real blessing and well deserved. Lzzy Hale said that someone gifted her a guitar when she first started out and recently she payed that gift forward by presenting Dany with a guitar. I can see that in the future, Dany, Pau and Ale doing the same for a new upcoming band or artist and paying it forward too, because that is the kind of people they are. Everything that that has come The Warning's way has been because of hard work, dedication and a genuine openness and honesty that truly inspires everyone they meet or who see them.

TW did it the right way. They built up their fanbase and gained financial support organically instead of being enslaved to a record label and subject to their demands. Their instruments were donated by supporters who wanted for them to succeed. Plus, it doesn't do any harm for their instruments to be seen in use by an up and coming band. I believe this is the period during which their critics were the loudest that inspired them to write Narcisista. Misery loves company and when the miserable folks can't find any company they attack people trying to bring everyone else down to their own level of suffering.

People will only give others something if they see potential. That potential has paid off in spades and the people that gave them those tools get to enjoy the outcome of that gift/Investment! These girls work basically every day on their craft.
Edit: I hate that, that argument being brought up completely sidetracked the conversation about a great song/band.

Thomas also lent/gave Ale a 5-string that she learned on and I believe she still uses mostly for acoustic work. He is a professional bassist who thought that the Spector would work well for. I met him in Boston; very nice person.

I'm also amazed that Pau remained totally silent the entire time, while Dany politely systematically ranted about it and Ale did too, also very politely and proudly and joyously. Probably either Pau knew she shouldn't get into it because she might not be so polite, or her sisters or parents told her before not to get into it... I could totally be wrong, but that's the sort of thought that goes through my mind. Pau's super kind and warm and nice, but I think you don't want to piss her off.

I agree 💯 with your rant about the girls receiving gifts from fan. I myself invested in their fundraisings to produce the albums and the tour, as at that point they were still independent, because they refused several deals with record companies that wanted to change them, which is to be admired, making it harder for themselves and also because I saw a lot of potential in them and that they were working extremely hard, so being in a financial position to be able to afford it, why wouldn't I help them. Plus it gives me the feeling that I was a small part of a great artistic endeavour, which is something I always dreamed of, so these girls helped me without knowing it realize a dream of mine. I am failing to find anything negative in that whole process whatsoever.

Wow. The perplexed anger during Dany's intro spoke volumes even before you put words to it. Not too unlike Dany's eyes and rock face, Pau's chin down stares and body language on her drum stool, and Ale's knee dips/hair flips. You fit in very well as reactor of theirs my friend 😄

and that's what we parents do for our kids. sacrifice and help them. Whether it's working hard at our careers so we can financially support them, or selling things. The person (or persons?) who complained clearly pissed off Dany. She actually looked and sounded marginally pissed off at the start of her speech, which is very out of character for her, so you know how much it irritated her.

They had to do a stripped down performance during their Canadian leg of their tour last year, because Ale was so sick. "Black Holes" was the first song they did, if I remember correctly. But the entire concert was really good, warts and all!😃👍❤🤘

These girls are astonishing. I couldn't care less where their instruments come from. All that matters to me is that they are so damned good at using them, and Pau in particular is just incredible on every level - as a musician, as a writer, as the technician for all their shows. They have 100% earned every single bit of success they've had so far, and every single bit of success that is waiting for them down the road

The reason this was brought up was that they who made these comments thought they were successful just because they had rich parents. The real reason was that fans of the band thought they would sound better if they got better instruments and started to buy them instruments. I don't think people would have been envious if they knew their instruments were gifted by their fans.

@@JTMMTV Trust me, if someone gifted you a Ferrari at any age, it wouldn't make you a better driver. Better equipment might motivate people more but the main motivator is that people like and encourage you no matter what instrument/tool you use. Great artists often have great tools, but it wasn't the tools that made them great. It was the other way around.

Since that comment infuriated you, I was wondering if you saw this story about an 11 year old autistic boy who immigrated here from Ghana. One day, his dad heard someone playing a keyboard in the basement. It was his son, who had NEVER touched it before. He got him a piano teacher, and the teacher bought the boy a special gift. A grand piano. The story will warm your heart and restore your faith in humanity.

Dude. 100% agree with your reaction about the speech at the start of this video. I can't believe that Dany felt she had to defend their financial fortune, WHETHER or not it was their family or from amazing fans.... it's just so maddening. Dany actually looked pissed when she was making the speech at first. EDIT: They have even (in other videos) talked about how they dropped out of school and started home schooling when the metallica cover went viral, to try and see how far they could take this, with their family's support. I have heard them say it has been 5 hours a day of practice apart and together since that time that they have dedicated to get this good so fast and so young. They could play $100 cheapo instruments and sound amazing, because it is the PLAYER, not the instrument.

Unfortunately these negative comments come up occasionally. People who’ve probably never put the effort into doing anything constructive or positive for others, then complain when someone is given a gift. Great reaction to when Dany was having to explain to the crowd about a shit comment from a totally jealous moron - and honestly I will just say it,there was a bit of rivalry between The Warning fans and those of another family band (who mostly do covers),whom I don't need to name, but most of The Warning fans know - but this other band had many fans who constantly trolled anything by The Warning and personally,I had many arguments with fans of this other band. Thankfully things have calmed down in the past 18 months,as The Warnings popularity has risen, and this other bands has remained stagnant. Well done with your summation of what Dany had spoken about. As for this song itself - imagine how much of a genius a 13 year old Pau was to create this masterpiece - and honestly, say if someone like Lady Gaga had released this ? It would've been huge...when the rest of the world finally catches up with The Warning, then these sisters will finally get the recognition they so fully deserve, and I think Pau in particular will be singled out as a musical genius like Brian Wilson.
