One of the best second line songs ever recorded. For info on second line parades and brass band shows, follow me on Facebook and Twitter: Big Red Cotton
Grew up in VA on go-go...moved to uptown NOLA after Katrina and heard this and lost my whole mind. How they can rock this while walking down the street...love it...love New Orleans.
Next to Harlem NYC.... What you talking about. Shit are All about the Blues Jazz Funk and real Hip Hop.... Not this bump shit you hear out now!!!! Harlem all day!!!!
Dimitri Jackson You sound big mad. New Orleans is voted most visited and unique city in America plus our cuisine and seasonings alone are eaten all over.
Second lined to this song at my friend's wedding in NOLA last year. EVERYONE, young and elderly alike, was on the floor groovin' and waving hands or hankies as they sang along!! Fun, fun, fun!!! This song embodies so much! Great hearing it again on HBO's TREME series (the end of episode 15). So much so, I downloaded it from the iTunes store.
I am not a dancer by any means, but I am born and raised New Orleans and when I hear a brass band, my legs can't keep still no matter how hard I try. I have been all around the world via the military. EVERYWHERE I go, New Orleans goes with me, ya heard me? Uptown, 3rd Ward, Magnolia Projects...
I been all over the world also from Germany, Italy, and the UK. And now i been living in the D.C. Maryland and Virginia area for almost 20 years now and it's nothing like the city i was born in raised in. It's nothing like New Orleans is like stepping into a whole nothing country and im proud to be from The Big Easy Baby!!!!!! #504 #3rdward #midcitytothemelph
Treme is the oldest Black African American neighborhood in The United States, The Birth of Jazz, & Brass Bands...we - been - doing this, this is how we do it!!!! #YaHeardMe #FaSho #WhoDatSaywhoDat , WhenISayWhoDat? WEDAT!!!
Love this song. You can't hear this and not dance. THIS is New Orleans. The city's people culture is being sold and or demolished. There's strength in song.
Big Red was a wonderful documentarian of the New Orleans street scene. She passed away right before Jazzfest and she will be missed more than people realize. May she rest in peace. God Bless You!!
1blastman She has documented more about my city then any body and its all on CZcams. And get this shes not even from there. I've never met her but she will truly be missed by N.O.
This really get me emotional cause despite the violence in the city, I LOVE ME CITY. I feel like a celebrity everytime I say I'm from New Orleans. I wouldn't want to be from anywhere else
New Orleans. Black, White, mix-it-up, creole-Cajun gumbo, home to America's "Classical" Music--Jazz and other musical and artistic magic. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Thank you Carnisha for your heart-felt comment and see you at the second line (-;]
I LOVE THIS BRASS SOUND ALL THE WAY HERE IN LOUISVILLE, KY.... I Play this song alot and folks look at me sideways but and the same time tapping their feet and bopping their heads... Great Music Appreciated up here! GOD BLESS YOU ALL.... THANK YOU FOR UNITY IN YOUR MUSIC....
Today I saw people dancing to this outside the Dome after the Saints win, in a restaurant parking lot in St. Roch, in the street in the Lower 9th Ward, and on top of a car in the 7th Ward. All in one day. It was everywhere.
They were dancin; out in the parishes also! Norhshore, Southshore, St.Bernard, Baton Rouge, not just the city but the entire Gulf Coast. Then we had the "Party with the Lombardi" Parade which was the coolest Mardi Gras Parade ever! Because instead of purple, green and gold, it was all Black and Gold! All Krunk!
Big Red - you are greatly missed! Your influence on spreading the joy and wonder of New Orleans culture is immeasurable! I hope your videos live on forever on youtube. Rock In Peace!
Discovered this song while watching Treme (season 3: episode 1) A wonderfully decadent song. Street to the bone, this infectious masterpiece of second line bounce should be played on every hip hop station. Let the world know that the hood still produces complete musicians, not just DJs and MCs.
Glen David killin' it! Rest in Peace Big Red, your videos of second lines are classic. You left us way too early and were a victim of the violence in our city You are greatly missed.
This song gives me chills and thrills at the same time. You concentrate on the percussion, you overlook the horns and then the lyrics are sooo dang powerful
i went to jr. high school w/ the cat that's singing. glen david andrews. he's come a long way! im from new orleans, born and raised! and i also watch treme! and i will definitely say i'm proud that they are depicting nola just as it musically pops off in real life! so if u like that, then get yo' ass to nola cuz that's how it really is!! i miss nola every damn day! after 29 yrs, I moved to NYC 5 months ago for graduate and law school... but when i'm done, my ass is definitely goin' HOME!!

its mind-losingly good isn't it?!? lol This is New Orleans street anthem - when this gets played, absolutely everyone gets to singing and moving. Old people in their 90's, babies who can barely string together audible sentences, know all the words and how to buckjump to the music:)
