- Training your bird for free flight or anything isn’t easy, with the help of Dave & Jamieleigh Womack from BirdTricks, Mia The Macaw will hopefully be flying sooner than later, We learnt so much to help Mikey too. These guys are professional parrot trainers with collectively 35+ years of experience. The 1 hour and 20min Skype convo we had with them was amazing, nothing like we have experienced before and we feel so much more confident in ourself to allow our birds to free fly safely. Even though this is the longest video we have ever made and probably ever will make, after cutting out so much, we felt this will give you guys a sufficient amount of info on what it takes to free fly, and even if you don’t want to free fly outside, this video should give you a lot of help to train your bird to overall have a better relationship with you.

You two were such a pleasure to teach. Thank you for being open minded to learning and sharing. I hope our next collaboration is in person, I can't imagine how much fun that would be. So happy to have met you both. Never stop learning 🥰
BirdTricks u guys r legendary bird trainers
So good!
@BirdTricks can y’all maybe start a bird podcast with different guests every time and talk about their story and how the listeners can accomplish that with their birds
So great to see two of my favourite bird people helping the other two of my favourites!! Amazing! Mia will do amazing!! Great job and great content!
It was a pleasure meeting you two, will def be staying in touch. Thanks so much for being amazing and can’t wait for hi 5s in real life
Two of my favourite channels working to enrich the life of a bird? HECK YES
This is cool!
Aw thanks!
We are glad you enjoyed the vid.
Helioseos yesss
You'd think Bird Tricks would have heard just about everything - but their reaction to throwing Mikey out the window was hilarious.
Haha yes. They were very surprised.
I was literally just watching the Bird Tricks video about their Toucan!! Talk about perfect timing wow !! 💞
Haha yay. They are great
SAME
I think an important thing to notice is that they’re doing this to make they’re birds happy and healthy❤️
Yup exactly. And she’s free flying now.
I am Impressed and all I can say is THANK YOU BIRD TRICKS we hope to see you again 😃😃
They were such lovely people to chat with. Glad you enjoyed the video.
*_bravo you just made Rio 3 look good_* 👍👌
Haha thanks
sadly the bird I’m Rio 3 is a Spix’s macaw and they’re extinct.
@@macawzzz2942 they are extinct in the wild, there are still many alive in zoos and sanctuarys
You two chose a fantastic couple to help Mia. JaimeLea & Dave are the best in the business right now! Lean on them heavily as you move forward with the process. Don't be afraid to ask questions regardless how simple it may be. I witnessed the process of Morgan the disabled macaw. It was incredible!! Good luck and please keep us updated!✌
Dave here. Thanks for the awesome feedbacK! 😊. I'm excited to see how Mia does!!!
Sound feedback 👍
We will definitely stay in touch with them for a very long time. Thanks for watching.
I'm very glad you guys talked to Bird Tricks. I don't have anymore birds but I still watch all the Bird Tricks videos because I love and enjoy what they do.
I'm in Love. This is just so beautiful, magical. You guys are so blessed that Michael gave you a chance to be part of his life. Mikey is a star and watching him train you is so cool. He is patient and firm when he needs to be. I look forward to when he has you fully trained. Thanks Mikey and good job you guys.
Thanks so much.
STORMY! The obese Amazon they are discussing has such a part of my heart. you have to watch the Stormy The Interrupting Parrot BirdTricks Playlist - if I am having a bad day, I will be cheered up in 5 min. He is hysterical and I can't begin to describe him but for anyone who thinks birds don't have personalities - thank God someone saw his Little birdie light and rescued him and JamieLeigh immediately noticed it too and what a gift to the world to share his process. Heartwarming and hysterical and please please watch. It's also very honest about how adopting a bird is not easy and for every sweet moment there are 100 stressful ones. But please watch Stormy's list. If you aren't laughing within a few minutes then you are Voldemort.
Awww we will def check it out at some point.
"I'm not even wearing pants in this interview!" ROTFL At video's last last moment! Hahah! I don't even have a bird, but I love the whole free flighting (& Birdtricks) just discovered Mikey the Macaw & Friends Well being in every way :-)
I’m so pumped! Thank you for all of the hard work
Thanks for watching and supporting once again.
Mikey The Macaw & Friends always!

Yay thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love you so much- you two couples and now you made it happen: my VIPs all together with so cool lessions to learn. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! And „hallo“ to Mikey and Mia.......
Awww thanks so much.
Loved this video!!! I just found these guys in the past month or two, started watching some videos, and subscribed. I've been subscribed to your channel several months longer. So, to see you both together is super wonderful!!
Aww amazing. Glad you enjoyed the colab.
Yaaaaaaaaaaass finally I love how you freefly your birds, birds are birds and they should be flying around. A flying bird is a happy bird
This is very very true.
Wow, thanks ,to all 4 of you for sharing. I watch both of your videos on a regular basis. Good luck with the June 1st deadline. 😀
Aww thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the vid.
This was a very helpful video! Thank you and good luck with Mia!
Glad you enjoyed it.
I’m sure you’ll achieve your goal with Mia, you’re wonderful pet owners. I was so moved seeing Mia enjoying mummy’s cuddles ❤️
Yes that’s the plan. She’s progressing slowly so hopefully we get there.
Love seeing you two working together!!
Hopefully it’s not the last time either.
The collab I needed. I love both of yalls channels

Super educational and I loved watching Mia learn how to free fly😊
Love you guys!!
Yay thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it.
I loved this vid. Glad to see such quality edutainment.
Awww amazing. We did our best to keep it entertaining as well as educational. Glad you enjoyed it.
This is so brilliant. Thank you so much, loads of information to explore and take in for my birds future
Awww thanks.
This video is really amazing! Don't worry about the legth of it I would happily watch the entire skype conversation as it is so interesting and inspirational. When I was a child I always wated to have a macaw, but my mother never allowed me. I use to go to the pet shop a lot to see the blue and yellow macaw that was there. Thinking now I would not have been able to offer a macaw a rewarding life back them. It is really good to see people like you, how show us how we should care about them and make their life worthy. I would to be able to adopt a macaw one day an improve their quality of life as you do. Thank you ver much for your videos
I just got 2 new budgies today and this video comes up I'm so happy love your videos
Yay. Perfect timing
That was fun to watch. Awesome human beings and lucky parrots
Awww thanks.
Really awesome video. It's important for us too see that you and your star successful birds can run into obstacles and that asking help for it is ok. Awesome video and tips!
Of course. We are always learning. Anything we can do to better our birds lives we will. It’s so rewarding for us.
Love your videos and they're very helpful and they have inspired me to care for my macaw better
Awww amazing to hear.
OMG YASSS Amazing vid!!I was waiting for this. I wish good health to your birds and family!!!😂💜💜
Aww thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it
OMG! So perfect! I love both channels!! Hope Mia fly now!
Amazing. Thanks for watching. We hope she will too
Thank you, and BirdTricks for the information that this video has provided.
The tips mentioned in this video make sense instantly once heard and l am sure will prove to be beneficial for both me and Hector ( my male blue and gold macaw buddy ) in our training and understanding in the future.
Thanks again guys.
Yay amazing. They were so fun to chat too. Glad this vid could help
I'm a new subscriber here but haven't been able to stop watching ur channel since last night. Your birds r absolutely gorgeous

This is some BIG BRAIN knowledge right here :)
Hahaha. Yes, yes there is.
This is SO AMAZING!!!!
My favorite bird people meeting up!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed the vid. Thanks for watching once again.
you guys are the best love these Chanel
Awww thanks.
I'm going to have to go back and watch everything in between your other video on why not to get a macaw and this lol. I love progression videos. This is absolutely awesome! I hope to be able to make this kind of progress with all my birds, my future ones and the one I already own. :)
Awww thanks so much. We hope you enjoy them.
I have 2 budgies. I love all this info on training, freeflying, birds of prey and winds. Wow! I fish for a living on the ocean so I know how powerful a dinple breeze can be. Not only to boats, but little land birds and up offshore due to wind. It never crossed my mind to use the breeze for training. Love this interview. Bravo to both couples and all the feathered babies. ❤
Aww thanks so much. Glad you learnt a few things.
I’m so excited for Mia! I hope you achieve your goal! 🦜🦜🦜
Thanks. We really hope we do too
they did 😊
I love how BirdTricks rolls up and schools the hell out of everybody. They're incredibly talented bird trainers, probably the best in the world right now.
So so true. They are amazing at what they do.
BirdTricks is everywhere this week! So cool! 💓🐦💓
Helping everyone everywhere.
I love this - this was so helpful for me too with George. Looking forward to my consultation with BirdTricks this month!
Aww amazing. You’re in for a treat with them.
Mikey The Macaw & Friends so excited!
I'm so glad you reached out to Bird Tricks they are good people
Yea so glad we could share this info with the world.
MY two favorite Bird Couples !!
Bird Tricks are the best parrot trainers. Literally the best.
They actually are.
Two of my fave bird channels😊
Yay
Thank you, I needed all this information. I am getting a Catalina macaw this summer and will be free flying. Go Mia, you got this!!!
Make sure you don't use this as a substitute for mentor training through the actual process 🌟
Please please please do a course/find a mentor you are taking your birds life into your hands and youre responsible to take all of the possible safety measures for them and if you lose them, then that reflects poorly on the whole freeflight community
BirdTricks Yes, I know, thank you 😊 I have another bird who is indoor recall trained so I have some experience. But I know outdoor free flying is a lot harder and trickier to train. I will get a free fly trained with experience to help me teach him.
Greer Ryan Yes, I know, thank you 😊, I have another bird that is indoor recall trained so have some experience
So happy you want to get into free flying, but we can let you know from experience, once you nail indoor recall and take your bird outside, it’s a whole new ball game with so so so much more to learn, not saying you can’t do it as we know many that have trained without a course, but waking up at sunrise and standing under a tree is not fun at all haha
good team up with Birdtricks. great video
Thanks. It was such a fun vid to make.
A lot of good information for Mia there. Hopefully you achieve the target for the 1st of June, good luck to both of you. Bird tricks were awesome. Next collab in person hopefully next time :)
Yes they were such a treat to chat too. We are working hard to achieve this goal. Thanks for watching.
I LEARNED SO MUCH WATCHING THIS VIDEO THANKS
Amazing. So good to hear.
This is a very interesting discussion❤
Thanks so much .
For the days you might think the internet is mostly vile and negative - watch these bird loving people interact and make the world better by helping each other helping birds. ~ I have no bird, but this was thoroughly a pleasure to watch. Thank you all! 🐦🐥
Awwww what an amazing comment. Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Omg loved Loved LOVED it!!!!! You both are doing so much good with Mikey and Mia and I'm so happy you hooked up with Jamie and Dave to further the education. This was a picture perfect collab and I'm so excited for everyone involved 💙💛 good luck to you both!!
P.S. I just had a consult with Jamie and Dave yesterday and it was dejavu hearing about predictable treating - we had gotten in such a pattern with 2 pine nuts for an A-B, 3 pine nuts for a big flight, a pistachio for perfect recall...so our world just got shook and we are having to plan out how to be inconsistent 😂
hahahaha... ;).
Haha we have been mixing up our treats like crazy recently. Thanks for the lovely comment. Hope tango is well
We acquired a 17 day old Blue and Gold on March 6, 2019. Went from no feathers with eyes closed to the present which is an amazing change. Im sitting here on the laptop in Thailand with the very sleepy and recently fed "Blues" next to me in a large tub. I saw Blues preen pin feathers yesterday for the first time. Free Flight is the main goal besides a few tricks. This video brought some things to my attention and thanks!
Awww amazing. So glad this helped. Good luck with your baby l
Very informative, thanks......
Mia we'll be cheering you on you to bird tricks
Yay

Nice one guys!
Thanks so much man.
This was awesome
Yay. Glad you enjoyed it.
BirdTricks!!!! Yay!
Yay
Amazing 😲 Although I‘d already knew some of the basics like correct reinforcement through seminars of Hildegard Niemann, a local parrot behavior expert here in Germany, there was so much knowledge to get just in this half an hour.
Bird Tricks, you rock 👍🤙
Glad you enjoyed this bud.
Love u guys
@Asami Richards hello
Yay. And well done on being first.
Lol, That Was Awesome!
Yay. Glad you enjoyed it.
When is the next video u need to keep making videos it's so fun to watch there aren't many channels like yours that are about parrots and is fun to watch
Aww thanks. We aren’t sure haha. We aren’t real youtubers with constant content haha, too busy looking after birds. Will have a think and try make one soon.
Thank you! I am an Animal Caretaker and I learned so much of this
Awww amazing. Thanks.
yay uploaded
We hope you enjoy it.
@@MikeyTheMacaw i will :)
I just watched it and I think some of their comments were inappropriate and condescending.I know they are good people (follow them also) however I have to say that your videos are much more interesting intriguing and real. I like that you show good and bad of owning this amazing creatures.Send my love to M&M🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks so much. We do our best to show both sides and we are very grateful Jamie and Dave took the time to chat with us
Love the intro!
Haha thanks.
I enjoy your videos so much! I love birds but now it's a bad idea for me to have one, instead i watch Mikey and Mia grow with you
It’s much easier to watch birds than have them haha
Jamie is so intuitive
She really is.
So excited about this collab! Really wish I could give my 17 year old rescue parrot the freedom of free flight but unfortunately destroyed flight feather follicles aren't something that can be worked around or fixed. Best of luck with Mia, can't wait to see her joining Mikey in the sky!
Aww so sad to hear, but just give her lots of love. Thanks for stopping by.
Can your bird do any length of flying or gliding? You could set up perches or platforms of varying heights with interesting things on each that would give your bird something to be curious about. This would allow some exercise and wing work without your bird getting hurt in the process. It would help with confidence in movement as well as using wings for balancing. Obviously placing the landing spots close enough for the bird to hop, jump, or get between. You could even put some a bit further that offer a challenge and put a net between them in case the bird doesn't make it.
@@DarkestDeeds Unfortunately he has absolutely no ability to fly. If he tries, he immediate crashes to the ground and flails around. It's actually quite sad to see. He's an African Grey and well they're not a species that really hops or jumps but he gets around and he has issues with a lot of perches because he's so afraid of falling (we're working on the perch issue but it's slow going). I make sure he can walk and climb to anywhere that he's allowed to go and he has tons of shred and forage toys and we do tons of other training and I make sure he's always a part of what I'm doing at home if he chooses to be. With the unevenness of his wings (his left wing is fully feathered, his right wing is completely missing all the flight feathers for good) he'll never have good balance sadly. I'm working with my avian vet and my local parrot club to ensure that he will have the best life possible but that life will always involve being flightless with all the physical and psychological issues that come with that since imping has been ruled out by 2 different vets as an option. I'll always give him as much love as possible, I'm dedicated to him for life however long that may be!
OMG TWO OF MAI FAV CZcamsRS
Yay
I LOVE YOU GUYSSS
Yay. We love love.
You keep throwing him places 😂😂😂
Haha
All off this information is relative to wot I got going on wiv my macaw 🦜 watched this like 4 times now lol 😝 plz do this type off vlog if possible again dudes so much epic info in one small vlog 🤙 I’ve Learned so much off both of you guys over the last month and me and me bird r better for it thanks dudes 🤙 🦜
Awww amazing. So glad you enjoyed the video.
Aaaaahhhhyour macaws are soooo preedy! I was wanting a macaw for years but the decided with me being in schooling still i couldn't give it what it would need so i decided on a snake because it dosnr need as much atention, and is still a cool pet!
Yes. Snakes are much less maintenance.
So cute loved it, to of my favourite you tubers is one video
Edit I just realised how bad my spelling is Haha lol 😂🤣😅
Haha aww thanks.
Honestly these tips ar every very useful and when my birds tail feathers grow back imma watch this video and make my bird learn how to fly like Mikey 😂
Aww amazing. This video will not teach you everything you need to know. Book a free flight course if you really want to learn.

@@MikeyTheMacaw and it's cute and fun to watch my 2 fav bird channels :D
Yes, I just watched a nearly 30 minute entertaining and educational video. Thank you. I do have one question, my budgie is afraid of me and I’ve had her for 8 months... what do I do? Thank you for giving your subscribers an educational video which is also entertaining!! 😆😍🐦
Yay thanks so much for saying it’s entertaining haha, it’s our first educational video so were a tad nervous lol. Hmmm, not too sure but I’m sure birdtricks may have something on their channel and will def be able to help.
