I was a biker commuting home one night (complete darkness) on a section further north on LSD during a similar storm. Wave came out of nowhere and knocked me off my bike. Never been so terrified in my life. I managed to get back to my feet and get to safety. They would have never found my body if I had gotten dragged out.I learned a big lesson that night.

Honestly, living in and being from Michigan I know never to go near a Great Lake while it's got large waves. The people here are just beyond ignorant and I'm surprised that they weren't smart enough to stay away. The current in Lake Michigan when it's NOT sloshing around with 12 foot tall waves are incredibly strong, I can't even imagine what it's like when it is,

These people must be *obsessed* with exercise, if they're willing to risk the chances of being forcibly pulled-out by those waves (or else drowning/being smashed against the rocks); and they'd even put their dog's lives at risk! It's times like *this* where you have to use your head and think ; "What's worth the risk and what ISN'T worth the risk?" ... or you might regret it later on. 💭

Right Theron, but the waves are entering the bike path where there is usually no water whatsoever. The waves off shore were 12 to 16 feet. The spot where he and the bike were almost swept in is a giant seawall which normally is several feet above the water surface. Make no mistake, that lake will drown you as fast or faster than any sea on earth.

Hey those lakes bring down great big ships. So the waves do get very big. I'm not talking about old ships but modern. Just take a look at the bottom of the lakes.

Michigan is actually rising in the north leaving more dry land up here in Traverse City and the level was down 13 inches up here last fall, may be causing higher levels in southern Lake Michigan.

It should be prohibited from traffic immediately.

Yeah I was running through that spot, and not when this video was made. I can say I underestimated the wave. I didn't fall like the guy on the bike but the water did soak me up to my knees.
The police really should shut that path down.A.S.A.P. and especially that spot after North Ave.
