Very good
What a great introduction and explanation of the benefits of practicing Arpeggios! Love those examples in jazz, brazilian, irish, etc. Thank you Magnus.
Thanks Michael! Yes, I find a LOT of good stuff in arpeggio exercises. For me they work in a more musical context then scales for example. Keep up!
Easy to follow - excellent teacher!!
Thanks Greg! Stay with me for more stuff like this. I have good news coming up for people interested in playing Jazz Mandolin.
I like your Hat Magnus. Thank you for these videos.
Magnus Zetterlund is the Mandolin you play in your video’s the only one you have? I assume you have more.
I do have 3 mandos, two Phoenix Mandolins and one Nordwall Flattop. I use them all for different purposes.
Excellent lesson. Thank you. You have a gift for teaching as well as music!
great lesson magnus !!
Great videos Magnus! You're an inspiration to another aspiring teacher.
Thanks Hayes! Do you remember we met in Grebbestad, Sweden? I do remember some good old time music jamming. :-)
You bet I remember! That was a hot jam. I really hope we get to share some more tunes in the future!
Thank you. Very good, well spoken information. You really have great tone too.
Thank you! I´m glad to hear you like the info. What is your main style?
My main style is probably "lack of focus"! I play with a number of people at a variety of jams that tend to be very eclectic. My favorite in the past few years is old time string band blues. I also really like bluegrassy fiddle tunes. Lately I have been getting into old time jazz and swing in the style of Django. I am better at comping these things than picking. It's a life long process right? I am periodically in Oslo, I should hook up for a lesson next time I am there. I do realize you may be some distance from there!
Sounds cool! I´m also a bit like you, playing all kinds of styles. We just have to remember, it´s all music! Yes, just contact me if you´re up for a lesson. I do also teach through Skype or Facetime every now and then. Have a good day!
you remind me a bit of bob ross with your calmness, thanks for the lesson
Thank! I had to google Bob Ross, but after I´ve watched him I take it as a compliment. He´s really cool I think! :-) czcams.com/video/VlucWfTUo1A/video.html
Thank you very much Magnus for sharing your knowledge on this with us. You are a very nice mandolinist. I especially liked your different styles from around the world. You have a gift for teaching too btw. Awesome video.
I will do another Live stream on Facebook on Friday 15. 14.00 CET. Sit in if you like!
Magnus- perhaps more close-ups of your fingering? Love this video. Just a suggestion.
Thanks. Would be interested on insight into right hand positioning, wrist movement, and gaining speed.
Thanks Tom! I actually put out the structure of a course that I call "Precision, Control and Speed". I´m going to make it a video course where I share the exercises I use to develop that kind of thing. Make sure you hook up with me on FB or my e-mail list and you will be noticed when it´s ready. I hope I can launch the course in June.
Hey man just wanted to say I love your channel! I know English probably isn’t your primary language but kudos to you for taking the time to teach mandolin in English 🙏🏻. You’re a great teacher 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Thanks Adam! I´m glad to hear that. I do my very best with the English. :-)
