In the early days I used to learn Spanish from the telenovelas. But before long I found myself sobbing uncontrollably, screaming at family and friends, and smashing cups and plates against the wall! Now I just rely on How To Spanish. 😀

I saw this video while I was looking at ways to brush up my Spanish, the funny thing about this is that I grew up with three sisters who loved watching telenovelas. I learned Spanish by watching telenovelas. I used to hate it because my sisters used to have control over the TV. Even when they were not home I was tasked to record their telenovelas on the VCR because they could not miss an episode. This video sent me on a nostalgic trip. I'm 35 now and I am very grateful to my sisters for making me watch telenovelas. My Spanish is not perfect but I am close to fleunt because of them. For the people watching telenovelas is the perfect way to learn Spanish if you're an adult. Telenovelas are funny dramatic and also full of suspense I could not wait to watch the next episodes. La usurpadora, Maria la del bario and Marimar were my favorite of all time. Honorabel mentions are Gata salvaje, Cafe con aroma de mujer and Pasion de Gavilanes.

Hace cinco años en 2019 empecé estudiar español en Duolingo y hicé esas clases por diez o quince minutos cada día. No tenía personas latinas en mi comunidad porque soy de Israel(gracias por mencionarnos😊). Hace dos años cuando estuve a Tel Aviv(mis amigos y yo nos gustan viajar aqui y solo es 20 kilometros de mi cuidad) yo vi un grupo de chicas hablando español. Mis amigos me preguntaron que dicen pero solo entendí 25% de su conversacion después de tres años que estudio español. Me di cuenta que para mejorar mi español necesito escuchar la gente hablando español entonces encontré una telenovela llamada soy luna y en realidad mi español mejoró mucho. Tambíen encontré tu canal y lo escucho cuando manejo a mi universidad. Aún no tenía la aportunidad de hablar con una persona hispanohablante pero cuando ese día llegará estoy listo
Telenovelas were very popular in the Arab world in the 90s and early 2000s.they were dubbed of course into MSA. And they still show them till now but dubbed in Levantine dialect . I remember watching some when I was young.
Me encanta mucho su canal y creo que es una buena decisión no caer demasiado en los temas políticos, pero estoy agradecido cuando dan una pequeña ventana, como lo dicen. Un tema que estoy escuchando mucho esos días en los ámbitos mexicanos está sobre la seguridad en Mexico. Es mi gran deseo que un día van a abordar eso porque es una cuestión importante para las personas que aprenden español con el objetivo de vivir en México próximamente (yo incluido). Tengo dos canales en mí cable en español. Univisión y Galavisión. He grabado y visto cincuenta episodios de un programa se llama Cómo Dice El Dicho, dónde hablan muy claramente, con muchos temas diferentes cada episodio. Junto con escuchar a ustedes he aprendido mucho del español mexicano, hasta que puedo notar si alguien viene de México por su acento.
¡la parte de la telenovela súper drámatica que mostraron me hizo reír muchismo! increible jaja. últimamente he estado viendo Pedro el Escamoso en netflix y me encanta, y me ha ayudado un monton con mi comprension auditiva. es mi primera telenovela que he visto y me parece muy buena. sí la drama es muy exagerada, pero a la vez creo que la trama tiene sus pies sobre la tierra por así decirlo. ademas me hace reír un monton, y tiene muchos momentos alegres y chistosos. tambien he aprendido de la manera específica que se habla en esta serie por ser Colombiana, como el uso constante de "usted" y palabras coloquiales como "vaina". ¡en fin gracias por otro episodio genial!
A mi, me gusta el programa, ‘La Rosa de Guadalupe’ porque cada episodio siga un modelo. Primero, hay un problema, estupro, alcohol, drogas, accidentes, defectos infantiles, etc. hasta que alguien en el elenco pide misericordia de la virgen y una rosa blanca aparece misteriosamente. Luego, habrá un milagro y después de reconciliación or resolución, siempre hay una brisa en la cara del creyente y una moraleja al final. ¡Que inspiración!

This episode reminded me of the mexican telenovelas my parents used to watch back in my childhood time. They were so famous even here in Lebanon. I still remember one of them that's called Mary Chuy or something😂

Wow the timing of this video! I just started watching La Madre Solo Los Dos on Netflix with only Spanish subtitles yesterday and it made me reflect on the Mexican style of storytelling/cinema. Its not a telenovela (or is it? I'm not sure) but it has that same energy that is captivating. There are a lot of characters, a lot of drama, lots of amantes, and the plot is fast paced and breezy.
I love that each country has their own distinct style of storytelling. For example, Indian cinema has a lot of singing/dancing because that has been part of our theater/storytelling for millenia.

Desde muy chiquita he visto telenovelas mexicanas en Brasil y la verdad es que me encantan. Las telenovelas están llenas de dramas, chismes, pasión y sueños de un amor imposible e irreal. Aquí en Brasil también era muy popular el programa 'El Chavo del Ocho', es muy chistoso y aún hoy en día, cuando lo veo en la tele, me da mucha risa.
¡Sí! A los mexicanos nos sorprende mucho cómo 'El Chavo del Ocho' se hizo tan tan popular en el resto de Latinoamérica.

You'll get there! I've been at an A1 level for a few years now, mainly due to sporadic lessons and a lack of self-discipline. But for the past 4 months, I've dedicated about an hour each day to learning Spanish. I can follow along this conversation, even if I wouldn’t be able to fully participate the entire time. It does require concentration though! I remember when I started, I could only understand a few simple words and by the time I understood those words the person I was listening to was already a sentence or two ahead of me - so I was just lost the whole time basically playing catch up. Just keep going - you'll improve more than you expect! Maybe next time I’ll write this in español lol

He mirado solamente una telenovela. Fue “Retrato de Familia”. Entendí más de lo que hubiera pensado pero ahora no me acuerdo mucho. A mí me parece que muchos de los personajes de las telenovelas siempre están enojados y gritan muchísimo y cuando gritan hablan a una velocidad increíble y es difícil entender cuando no están frente a la cámara y están hablando a otra persona que no se ve. Ahora no tengo televisor así que no puedo mirar telenovelas ni “Caso Cerrado” tampoco.
A veces suben a CZcams los episodios completos de algunas telenovelas o programas.

Para mi las novelas de Mexico son muchos más faciles de entender que las de España. Por eso los prefiero .
Los problemas de telenovelas nunca resuelven entre 30 minutos. ¡Es verdad que haya drama extremo! Mi padre no le permite a mi mamá ver estos programas. Según él es un gasto del tiempo especialmente cuando mi mamá tenía que cuidarse a doce niños. Pienso que ella tenía bastante drama en su casa.
Hola... prefiero ver y escuchar una variedad de canales españoles porque las telenovelas nunca me han gustado.
Prefiero ver otras drama series.
