- Hey friends and dome lovers! I know an update from Johnny and Camille is way overdue. So here's a bit about how our sailboat adventure went and what we have planned for the future!

I'm very interested in this future community that you're trying to build. I strongly suggest that you track the attention of various outside-the-box thinking lawyers and legal teams to look into how we can ratify the increasing issues around zoning laws and NIMBYs.
Agree. I’m a fan and follower, and a real estate lawyer living in Hawaii and practicing law in Texas, as well as a diy builder. I know the zoning laws intimately in Hawaii and Texas. Happy to contribute, including reaching to find any willing real estate lawyers for Washington State, because zoning and real estate land use are very complex, and location specific. 🤟 Aloha!

This is the only thing that may cause me aggravation. I have purchased the plot in an area designated an sssi in the Uk. Site of special scientific interest. It is a garden paradise landlocked in the center of intensively farmed arable land that is ploughed all around as far as the surrounding area. Back in the day the farmer sub divided an apoximate 50 acre feild and sold individual lots so becoming a kind of trailer park community. 20 years later when all the gardens became established and people started living there in cabins and the like the municipality evicted everyone bulldozed everything and burnt all the cabins and trailers. Another 10 years later the gardens sit virtually abandoned all but the odd plot holder who mows his lawn for leisure. Only for what the people planted is the place fit for wildlife and nature. All around is intensively farmed mono cultre. But this is acceptable and man is no part of nature according to the burocrats rules. My dome is going to be built here without asking for permission. My argument is I am the scientist living in my natural habitat and this is the site of my scientific interest . All zoning laws I am flipping into my favor for my full protection I am not going to fight them I am going to correct them and at the same time remove the property from the land registry by gifting it in trust to the named beneficiaries. The stewards/scientist/and species of man/woman. These are the areas you find organic community. Not squatters gypsies or travellers where everything must be on wheels to pass zoning laws.no no this man is standing his ground upright and proud on his lawfull freehold domain and gifting it in trust to such community.
It's ok to to retrace, this is consolidation to build the foundation for the next leg up in your journey. You can't get there without it. #muchlove #godspeed

I want to attend your exhibition centre and show off my 'bog standard domes' for the cheap end of the market.
I'm aiming at the complete 50 ft width dome home for no more than 3k USD or GBP.
I'm already talking to some island people for the purpose of visiting them this year and building and training teams of builders.

Glad you are still Dome-ing. I come from a sailing community and have seen many people cruise for a while and then swallow the anchor. Nothing wrong with that. Life is for learning.
Anyway, I have had this idea for a long time but never tried it and I would like to hear you thoughts on it. A dome constructed out of structural foam panels. Beveled edges, obviously.
Yes a SIP dome has been on my mind. Need to draw it out. Thanks for the encouraging words!
@@trilliumdomes I have imagined joining the panels with L flashing metal along the edges, forcing the metal to conform to the greater-than-90 angle, fastened with roofing nails (?). At the vertices, I imagine cutting circular metal discs with a slit and forming a cone over the metal ends, fastened with sheet-metal screws. Essentially, a "frame" would be constructed over the "skin."
For a long time I have wanted to do a mock-up of a vertex area. Do you follow my idea? I once built a house with SIP. BTW I am the guy that made a dome model at age 10 in 1960. I live in WA and maybe we could meet sometime.

Good on you both for having the courage to go explore your dreams! I lived on a small sailboat for a few years and worked on it a lot. It was at a dock and still it’s not easy… on the hook would be a nightmare. I completely get it.

I would love to see plans for a passive greenhouse like dome with a thermal mass space included into the design in order to orient it appropriately?

I feel like you should be working on a full scale Dome/Zome house with potentially several linked together. If you were willing to stay put that is. Would be one heck of a proof of concept, as well as a showcase of your impact on society.

Love your Domes 🥰QUESTION Could you make some plans for 2" 4" and 6" Domes for Rabbits Cats Dogs etc As would love to build one for my Cat and Kittens so they can be outside and dry and my other QUESTION Could you make plans for a half Dome so it's more like a Conservatory/Sunroom that could be added on to my Sitting Room Please 🥰🥰🥰jemima¿.?
Hey! I can do custom designs but they take awhile. BUT you can scale the plans easily with quick math to make them smaller! All angles stay the same. And making a half dome is an simple as leaving some panels out!

It depends. Fusion360 is my go to but I make all the sketchup files available for the designs on my website
