Upsetting folks in Toronto’s business district with positivity and negotiating Canadian traffic Filmed and edited by @DaveLuca 🚨TOUR DATES, CAMEO, MERCH 🚨 - linktr.ee/troyhawke
@@jasonhoffman6436 you know western mentality, "you dont know me, so shut up" regardless of the compliment. no one wants to socialize, its just norm these days, happens to troy when he started this. so yeah, the more you know, the nicer you are is the right answer.
I’m Canadian and this is profoundly embarrassing, it took until the firefighters for anyone to respond appropriately to this legend. Thanks for trying, Troy!!!💜 (also reminds me of how it’s truly the Brits who are friendly, we’ve had such lovely experiences over there)
@@trudimclaren4301 Ofc, I was just having a joke. In my cardiac department even there is the usual mix of: moaners, Karens, positive people, jokers, talkative, introvert and outright weirdo types lol
A lot of the Canadian's weren't really feeling it. Maybe severe irony deficiency from those long, dark winters? And not even a functional gilet in sight, eh?
OMG - Troy was in Canada ? I live in Grimsby - directly across Lake Ontario from Toronto . I would have given anything to have seen him there. I can’t believe how serious torontonians are .
It's the financial district, doesn't matter what country you're in these kinds of people are only truly happy when they're walking over the backs of the poor.
Honestly met some canadians once and they were the coolest and friendliest people. As some comments have alluded already must have been the area he was in.
I can’t believe Troy came to my city and I missed him. I’d have killed to see him. I would’ve also recommended a number of livelier areas that would have garnered better responses than the financial district on a work day.
First fellow called it!! “Street Torontonians” are a tough crowd!! 😱 To be fair, the T.O. financial district is not a great representation of Canadians as a whole 😂 There are a lot of us who love you 🇨🇦
As a Canadian fan of Troy's I'm a tad disappointed at the lack of engagement of these folks...It might be the big city thing. Toronto is not like most of Canada...
I do feel quite sorry for peeps over the pond. Over here, even if you’d no idea who this guy is, you’d know he’s a wind-up merchant and go with it. Over there, most folk look at him like he’s some kind of alien or time traveller.
Was pretty low on the board game totem pole growing up there. Card games were the main pastime for my friends and family, but still odd to me that he came up empty with the older people on that.
We're not used to strangers approaching us in public, so when they do we're not sure of what to make of it. It's just how we are. Ask us for directions and we'll gladly give them to you, though.
It's kinda weird when he approaches people. I feel like it works better when he's at an entrance to a place or standing on a street corner. Just walking up and interrupting a conversation is a different vibe.
Remind me never to go to Canada... what a bunch of boring uninspiring citizens who seem to lack the capacity to enjoy comedic banter or even get Troys disarming yet engaging dialogues. Make your day brighter ... be more like Troy 🤲🏼 ❤ I LOVE YOU TROY ❤
They mostly have no idea what he‘s talking about. It‘s not that they are unkind but they don‘t ‚get him‘. I lived in Canada for a while; they‘re not used that unknown ppl talk to them and so they‘re weary of Troy.
I wish I could have run into Troy, the master of good will, but I hate going into Toronto. Be careful Troy; pedestrians have the right of way but Ontario drivers don't know that law
Thank you Troy for busting the myth of Canadians being soooo nice.
I didn't notice anybody being NOT nice!
@@marcse7en how many of them said thank you, or at least replied? I`d consider at least a smile or swift reply, being nice.
@@marcse7en so you would just completely ignore him as well?
We know how to excuse ourselves, not be on the receiving end of compliments
I feel like you wrote this comment before you even watched the video. Not one person was impolite.
They don't know how lucky they all were to be in the presence of such greatness.
Shoulders back and attack the day.
Be the fever dream of the discerning housewife.
@@JoeBlac 🤣🤣🤣
Oh dear...Toronto...you missed the point of the legend that is....Troy Hawke.
Adore this man but feel like Canadians don't get him
no one outside uk know him ofc. not everyone in the world watched youtube and tiktok
@@diazepamkit You don't have to watch youtube or tiktok to understand a well spoken compliment. Lol...
@@jasonhoffman6436 you know western mentality, "you dont know me, so shut up" regardless of the compliment. no one wants to socialize, its just norm these days, happens to troy when he started this. so yeah, the more you know, the nicer you are is the right answer.
@@diazepamkit Thats a British and Northern European mentality. People don't act that way in ALL of the western world.
Half the people cant speak English
Wow - Canadians are hard work!
I’m Canadian and this is profoundly embarrassing, it took until the firefighters for anyone to respond appropriately to this legend. Thanks for trying, Troy!!!💜 (also reminds me of how it’s truly the Brits who are friendly, we’ve had such lovely experiences over there)
Fireman seem friendly and up for a laugh in every country, and office workers uptight and unfriendly.
I'm an office worker, and I always engage in conversation with strangers. Mind you, that's Dunedin NZ, we're a bit odd down here 😂
@@trudimclaren4301 Ofc, I was just having a joke. In my cardiac department even there is the usual mix of: moaners, Karens, positive people, jokers, talkative, introvert and outright weirdo types lol
@goodyeoman4534 totally understand - I hope you realise I was too! 🤗
@@trudimclaren4301 NZ is awesome. Better weather than rainy England, but I'd miss the crumpets and tea.
@@goodyeoman4534 it sounds like you should probably stay in your house, the outside world is not for you
Come on good people of Toronto, lighten up 😊
This is the most Toronto thing I’be seen 🙄 no bants in Canada
Completely bantless
Troy my good man, do not waste your time and talents on Toronto. We are too dull and grey and cowed.
We must protect this man at all costs ❤
You are a lovely chap Troy. Never be dissuaded from your mission.
Toronto disappoints again
well well, Toronto seems like good craic 😶
As a Torontonian these people have brought great shame upon me
I checked the Scrabble points for Michael and Josie and they were spot on! SUPERB!!!
At least the firefighters grokked him…!
The greatest 😂😂 we need more please 😊😊
Jan Molby would certainly approve, well done!
Troy... you are a proper human being. Thanks x
They did not know what to make of you Troy, jovial as ever.
I'm getting an essence of under appreciation tinged with a hint of confusion.
He says what I think as I walk through Toronto daily.
A lot of the Canadian's weren't really feeling it. Maybe severe irony deficiency from those long, dark winters? And not even a functional gilet in sight, eh?
Never underestimate the power of a compliment.
OMG - Troy was in Canada ? I live in Grimsby - directly across Lake Ontario from Toronto . I would have given anything to have seen him there. I can’t believe how serious torontonians are .
TIL there is another Grimsby. Hope it's nicer than the original Grimsby
Right out of the park as usual.
Always makes me smile.
I thought Canadians were supposed to be friendly 🤔 😂
Many Canadians do not even speak English.
It's the financial district, doesn't matter what country you're in these kinds of people are only truly happy when they're walking over the backs of the poor.
@ct5625 that's very true
Lies. Canadians are boring, dull and passive aggressive everywhere
We don't know how to take a compliment
Be kind to all you meet.
The troyster…..taking transactional analysis to the people !
Love this!!
They can’t appreciate this man in Toronto
This guy is a legend, so eloquent!
Honestly met some canadians once and they were the coolest and friendliest people. As some comments have alluded already must have been the area he was in.
I love this man. Such a joy. Proud he's a brit
I love Toronto
Love this
What a guy Troy is ❤😂
My sister moved to Canada from the UK years ago - she lost her sense of humour - now suspicious of everything and offended by many things.
Big smile for the full length of the video. 😃.
Always an unexpected pleasure to start the day with the sincere compliments of Troy, although the joy is much like his robe: a little too short.
Il faut venir en France apporter votre bienveillance!
I can’t believe Troy came to my city and I missed him. I’d have killed to see him. I would’ve also recommended a number of livelier areas that would have garnered better responses than the financial district on a work day.
I agree 100%
Omg I wish I had seen him, amazing.
Love It! They look so confused..
I had to check Troy's Scrabble math, and I'll be damned if he wasn't right. A brilliantly quick calculation.
"Blame Canada!"
Go off ! 🎉🤣🤣💜💜💜
He's in Toronto. There's a lot of crazy and grumpy people there
thumbs up!
He computed the scrabble score quickly
Im a Canadian living in the uk and watching this video made me miss home but laugh at the same time.
Ditto.
Toronto has become the pind
I guess the Canadian winter is still on.
It's city beehive culture which creates these muted responses, not any particular nation or race.
Wow, you were at sea in an ocean of antipathy. Never have you seemed more alien in an environment. Well done for keeping those shoulders back anyway!
I absolutely love you.
Manners are lost on them, although maybe it's the sensory overload that is Troy, silencing them.
Confuze them with kindness...please, the Guild needs to visit China, Japan or SK or at least to Chinatown, it would be so funny...
Troy, you're adorable! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise 😜
Nudging the dial on happiness in Toronto.
In defense of Canadians and Torontonians in particular, this is the douchiest part of town.
I didn't know you were here! Come back please.
I've always wanted to visit Toronto. After this video, not so much.
I’ve been and it’s great and everyone was nice, I’d happily move there
Shoulders back
Nice 1 😊
The British equivalent of "I'm walkin' here!"
What’s it al aboot ey? Love you Troy!
I’m surprised we didn’t hear a lot of “thank you” from our Canadian brothers and sisters 🤣♥️
Peak Toronto energy.
YOU'VE GOT VERY WELL MANICURED EYEBROWS
First fellow called it!! “Street Torontonians” are a tough crowd!! 😱 To be fair, the T.O. financial district is not a great representation of Canadians as a whole 😂 There are a lot of us who love you 🇨🇦
That surprised me, I thought Canadians would instinctively love him. Maybe they are shy?
Come to New Zealand!!
interesting watching the difference between London and Toronto
The canadians 😮💨😮💨😮💨
❤
This guy keeps spitting out the very same and yet the opposite of "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries".
Its like Troy zoned out and visited another dimension to the planet earth. Who are these Earthlings? they do not represent us. 🤔
Next time go to Kensington Market. The reactions would’ve been better.
As a Canadian fan of Troy's I'm a tad disappointed at the lack of engagement of these folks...It might be the big city thing. Toronto is not like most of Canada...
Most of Canada is worse. You are all boring, uptight and dimwitted
Canadians definitely have a different sense of humour (found out the hard way!)
I do feel quite sorry for peeps over the pond. Over here, even if you’d no idea who this guy is, you’d know he’s a wind-up merchant and go with it. Over there, most folk look at him like he’s some kind of alien or time traveller.
He got a better response in NYC
Toronto wasn't onto you at all, mate. However, as the old saying goes: "If at first you don't succeed, try Troy again!"😁
I guess Canadians don't play Scrabble
Was pretty low on the board game totem pole growing up there. Card games were the main pastime for my friends and family, but still odd to me that he came up empty with the older people on that.
You always make me laugh, and that is no small feet (I wear a size 14 shoe)
Oh, I missed Troy Hawke

This was a very tiny part of a very large country.
The financial district in Toronto is not representative of an entire country.
They mostly have no idea what he‘s talking about. It‘s not that they are unkind but they don‘t ‚get him‘. I lived in Canada for a while; they‘re not used that unknown ppl talk to them and so they‘re weary of Troy.

Only a Canadian would never have heard of scrabble!
lol, Most Americans have never heard of Europe and can't even point it out on a map!
It's the age
When Troy went to NYC - the biggest surprise was how much folks “ got him “ . And here in Canada the surprise - no one got him . What’s up with that 😅
New Yorkers see much weirder shit than Troy on a daily basis. The Canadians being this uptight is much odder
English Canadians are an uptight people. Toronto is just the extreme of that.
Troy is welcome anytime in NY (or Philly). Can’t wait for him to come back!
First guy was right huh
😊😊😊😊😊😇
Canadians are so proud. But I’m no longer sure what of?
