What I would give to see Brum look like this again: an exciting city on the move. Makes me sad seeing what it's become today...:(
Thank goodness for CZcams and thank you for posting.
Is this a serious comment? So Brum isn't an exciting city on the move TODAY?Wow...I think someone needs to get out more
@Dragon Of The West exactly!!
State of corporation street now, yuck …
That tram has made it an ugly wasteland
Aged not yet eleven and in my last year at junior school back then. Takes me right back to childhood memories- visiting Birmingham during my formative years!
Great memories - anyone else remember the 'naughty' bookshop and the hole in the wall fish & chip shop on Hill Street ? Thanks for posting Paul.
you are very welcome. Regards Paul
A magical and fascinating glimpse back in to the past of my beloved city. Thanks for sharing this sir
Wow amazing the cars look amazing the whole atmosphere was so new and fresh for everyone
Agreed. Thanks for your comment. Regards Paul
Just fantastic. Brings back so many memories. Thank you so much :))
Your welcome...... 👍😎
The Birmingham I left and miss. At least it hasn’t changed in my memories.
👍
Well that’s one journey that no one will ever do in a car again. Totally pedestrianised or tram lines today.
Indeed... thanks for your comment. Regards Paul
Mad... I keep wanting to shift the camera over to the side to see what was where. Brilliant footage!
Lol... Yes.. I wish I had filmed more. Thank for your comment. Paul
and how could I miss 'Dayvilles Amercian Icecream - 32 FLAVOURS'!!!! Damn - brings it all back
+markovilla1
I remember it for the arcade games, not ice cream. They had all the new releases machines straight away....The place was always packed out.
Was watching sf6 and my dad started talking about how he always went dayvilles and went to the lower section to play arcade
My farther owned the Greek restaurant on John bright street..
Cool ! thanks for your comment. Regards Paul
I'm a big fan of your footage.
Nice of you to say.... much appreciated. Regards Paul
The silver car would have been new at the time W reg came out 1st of August 1980 and lasts up to end of July 1981
thanks for your comment...... Regards Paul
Sounds like a video game intro😄
LOl.... 😎👍
WIMPY!!!
indeed.. !! lol
I loved that place. I'd get off the 74 bus and pop in.
looks awfully congested and overcrowded. thank god it's changed!
Indeed.... some people preferred it that way. I like it as it is now !! cheers Paul
You don't see any BUUUURRRRKHAS in this video mate. Give us our cuntry back
now BUUUUUURRRRRRKHAS IS EVERY WHERE IN THE WORLD ALHAMDULILAH ITS MEAN THANK GOD
I can assure you Burkhas were around in 1981. As well as afro's, Jewish Kippas, turbans etc etcWhat a completely random odd comment. Weirdo
@@mrglide7078 I think the gentleman was referring to the overbreeding and overunning of our small overcrowded island by muslims and pakistanis ! Have a walk round Brum now and do a quick head dress count . I think you will find we genuine Brummies have become overrun by foreigners !!! Go have a look it is now a GREAT BIG SH#T HOLE ! You're welcome from old Brum R.I.P.
@@christopherhampson265 It really isn't. Your comment is absolute nonsense
@@mrglide7078 It really really is . I don't recall seeing so many street names written in funny back to front squiggly writing which an English man would not be able to understand when I was there . The signs were in English now they are in a foreign language !! Is that not because there are more black / asian "people" than corkasian folk ???? Fact :- there has been a higher number of black/asians per corkasian person per head of Birminghams population for several years and even a person with limited vision can see that .... Are you totally blind ? If so I do forgive you for being unaware of your surroundings . One for the road ! What is the most used surname in Brum ??? Answer on a postcard or here if you like . Here is a clue . It begins with m and ends in d .. I hope this has helped to enlighten you . Thank you .
