Anyone wanting to improve casting accuracy with a spin outfit need to watch this how-to from master caster Adam Royter. Full of technique tips and information to get you 'hitting the pocket' every time.
*Great product. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I have never used a baitcaster before and did a lot of research before buying this one. I bought it with the Torrent casting rod as well and it works very nice.*
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well czcams.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
OMG I am fifty and nobody before you showed me how to use a spinning reel like you just did !! Pretty amazing I would very much see a caster like you doing a true comparison of spinning vs casting !
Are you kidding me? That was insane. He could knock someone out with that plug from 40 meters and they wouldn't know what hit them. Gotta say this is pretty awesome
Yeah, I just learned this technique in about 30 seconds and it makes casting on a spinning rods so much more fun this is awesome feels like I’m actually in control of my ride when I put my finger on top of the real it’s so sick and smart that’s so awesome. Can’t wait to get more cash out with this technique.
If you cast a spinning reel, this is the way to do it This is literally hands-down, the absolute best method. I wish more people saw this video. I’m gonna show people this method and tell them about this video.
Amazing! You nailed it! Thankyou! I'm watching a lot of video's on this and other fishing subjects. The self proclaimed "experts" have one thing in common: they haven't got a clue on how to communicate an idea! You took me from my current level of understanding to where you wanted me. I can duplicate this. Hopefully, you are still sharing your knowledge.
You just solved my problem . (I'm learning) I have not been casting right. I have come across and issue. Well I knew I was doing something wrong, cause it defiantly was not the equipment. My equipment is on point. Iv started Using light gear targeting ( bream, flathead, whiting ) started to move onto hardbodys and down to 6 lbs quality braid. Light braid and a bad technique ends up with loop knots around guides. So I knew it was me . Went for a flick today problem solved !! Cheers mate
The best and most accurate casting method i have ever seen, new to spinning, and going to practise your perfectly logical method, so that i'll use the right method from the start, and not start with all the bad ones, and have to suffer noobs problems!!
I learned from an uncle long ago to feather spool with finger. But I used the index pickup at beginning of cast. Now I remember he too pinched line on spool at beginning of cast. Now where’s my casting plug I have to practice. Thank u !!!!
Thanks sir for this tutorial..i tried it yesterday and my friend shocked at my accuracy..they was like..dude!do you finally switch to bc reel? haha..all my friends knew im not a big fan of bc reel..with spinning reel i never got accurate cast but thanks to you now i can
it's also a good way to let the line come off the reel before you want it to. he fishes for a living. be safe and don.t do it. it might cause you a mess you don't need. there is nothing wrong with the standard way.
Love these new lipped Abu I just ordered the revo alx and this new Donald Bradman aka casting is great for boat casts but also weighted sinkers fly off with ease due to the edge lip, Whiting on poppers in the flats would be nice to see this new technique in action
Looks good fishing for small fish with light tackle. Nothing for 150 gram Lures fishing for i.e. Pike. Many bigger reels don't even allow for opening the bail in that position. Might try this for light perch fishing thought just for the heck of it but the same accuracy can be achieved with the standard way without relearning.
I'm in Uk been using fixed spool since I was 8 years old and went over to baitcasters(increased accuracy) for lure fishing 20 years ago .. With the exception of big jerkbaits ,since watching this vid I've gone back to spinning reels . Every minuite saved from not having to flip the bail arm over has cost 10 unpicking birdsnests .. no more
Great video, great technique. But this works only with lure casting, and a low weight at the end of the line. This can't be used in feeder fishing, unfortunately.
Hi, Great video, but I'm confused! You said at the beginning that it's illegal to hold the line on the pad of your index finger? I'm assuming you are from Australia...apologises if your not, but I'm in the UK, so I don't think it's illegal here, if it is I'm in the Shit!!
How does your technique work when casting a 13 foot rod and a 4-8 oz. lure? I don't see how you could fully load your rod for distance with just pinching the line with one finger on the spool? Just wondering, seems like more of a short casting accuracy technique to me for more bass fishing and sight fishing applications? I'm not down grading what your doing I'm just wondering if you think this application could be used for surf style fishing where you have to cast further and with that come a lot of pressure on the line you are holding. Great video though, I will practice this for sure and see how it feels, I do fish light tackle also but my main passion is throwing big top water stuff off rocks and beaches. Thanks!
By cliffs I assume you mean rocky ledges near the ocean or just rock formations alongside the edge of the water? I'm not sure which part you seem to have an issue with as I do this while rock fishing in the ocean from cliffs and rocky formations. It's pretty neat to be accurate and DECIDE where the bait goes. I'd love for you to tell me why you "wish" you didn't grab this idea from him!
Interesting, but I can see the bait flying off every time. Also, some people do not like to plow their lure into the water at high speed on a cast like how the plug is hitting the target in the video. Plus, vegetation at some fishing spots does leave room for an overhead cast. Only though practical experience can one cast with reasonable accuracy in a variety of situations. Part of learning to fish is learning one's limitations and fishing within them.
Yeah ok looks like this style of fishing/casting goes against the grain in every aspect of our course fishing for a waggler for example. Oh by the way buddy if you had your spool properly filled to the correct level will help you also cast effortlessly and even more accurate. 👍
You don't want more line on . . . .main reason you get bird nests. keep at least 1/8 inch from line to outside lip of spool. wow, you're telling one of the best pros out there how to load his line on the reel??????
*Great product. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I have never used a baitcaster before and did a lot of research before buying this one. I bought it with the Torrent casting rod as well and it works very nice.*
This is the first time that I watch some one doing a vid showing how to cast accurate with a spinning rod and reel that’s awesome.

Really a fantastic technique said by any one before. Also a brilliant videography by your own.
The best and most accurate casting method i have ever seen, new to spinning, and going to practise your perfectly logical method, so that i'll use the right method from the start, and not start with all the bad ones, and have to suffer noobs problems!!

This video just changed my LIFE.
Less like casting, more like shooting, awesome. Flat straight and accurate, incredible. Question though, what lure weights will this work for
Thanks sir for this tutorial..i tried it yesterday and my friend shocked at my accuracy..they was like..dude!do you finally switch to bc reel?
haha..all my friends knew im not a big fan of bc reel..with spinning reel i never got accurate cast but thanks to you now i can
Tested & Proven.it really worked esp when casting on a short dist casting.thnx for the new tip.👍
Too Bloody Good
Grabbed my rod and tried it myself after watching this video!
Nice cant wait to try this technique in the field of battle.,..
Mind blown 😳 back to the drawing board after 30years of UK style casting 🙈
Be careful "pile driving" the plug into your rod tip. You'll knock the liner out of the tip.
Excellent technique. I t worked for me. Great video.
Wow...thanks, going to give this a try for sure.
Amazing thank you, makes so much sense and is awesome
it's also a good way to let the line come off the reel before you want it to. he fishes for a living. be safe and don.t do it. it might cause you a mess you don't need. there is nothing wrong with the standard way.
Thanks for leveling me up to 200 IQ on spinner casting.
Wow! This is accurate. I might need a sinker with arrow tip just hit the fish with it. Lol. Awesome tip 👍👍👍👍👍

What can be done on a side arm cast?
Damn!!! Does he miss? That is awesome.
What rod and reel is this
Wow!!
So I am left-handed. How would a left-handed Angler use a similar method with out have to learn to fish right-handed
Great video, great technique. But this works only with lure casting, and a low weight at the end of the line. This can't be used in feeder fishing, unfortunately.
that boi gud.
After watching this - Can someone explain to me why I would even want a baitcaster? (other than for line capacity reasons)
NOW I AM A PRO CASTAH !!!
100% more line twist!
ok I'm humbled
Umm...I don't think I can see the need to use a baitcaster anymore.
I'm gonna take back my spinning reel from the trash
Hi, Great video, but I'm confused! You said at the beginning that it's illegal to hold the line on the pad of your index finger? I'm assuming you are from Australia...apologises if your not, but I'm in the UK, so I don't think it's illegal here, if it is I'm in the Shit!!
It’s not illegal it’s a figure of speech so you don’t do it
“Illegal casting with finger on line” which state and can someone share a link to this fact please.
It was a joke my guy.

Holy crap
I'll be throwing curve balls at seagulls in no time. boom
This works on soft waters...the index finger on the reel...try it on cliffs...and you would wish you had never grabbed this idea from this guy !
Do elaborate...
Can anyone explain me why grabbing the line is illegal ?
err - metaphor....
420? I understand why you don't understand a metaphor. Get off the dope and your world be a much smart place. D-bag
🤦♂️
Smart arse, the guy, and myself were just asking a question! Obviously somethings are lost in translation!!
dee jay I figured he was kidding. It’s “illegal” because there’s a much better way...
You just bloody can't!!!!!!!!
Interesting, but I can see the bait flying off every time. 👏
Wow! How dumb do I feel now. 😂
OMG!!!!
uff! So easy.
Ricky Hatton?
Yeah ok looks like this style of fishing/casting goes against the grain in every aspect of our course fishing for a waggler for example. Oh by the way buddy if you had your spool properly filled to the correct level will help you also cast effortlessly and even more accurate. 👍
You don't want more line on . . . .main reason you get bird nests. keep at least 1/8 inch from line to outside lip of spool. wow, you're telling one of the best pros out there how to load his line on the reel??????
30 years.....thank you lol
I don't cast in meters, I don't drive at Kilometers.
Fuck me dead how many time's has Royter made this tutorial over the last 10 years. You don't need to do this to be accurate w/ a spin outfit.
Sorry mate but this is far more accurate than releasing the line the regular way.
