On January 27, 2011 it was announced that Violet had been diagnosed with a form of acute leukemia and would be undergoing chemotherapy.[1] For the next year and a half, Violet faced his struggle with cheer and determination. In times of hardship, the true character of a man shines through - in what was undoubtedly the toughest time of Violet’s life, he remained committed to his team, his fans, and his dream. Violet was one of the few progamers with a TL account. With English that made up for its shortcomings by radiating sincerity and energy, Violet communicated with his fans about his thoughts and his plans - through KT’s second proleague win, the transition to SC2, and the uncertain future ahead, Violet endeared himself to us with his unwavering resolve. After struggling with acute leukemia for over a year, he passed away at the age of 23 on the morning of August 22, 2012.[2]

He could have right at the end, but used maelstrom instead. I dunno why he didn't keep the DA's at his left base anticipating drops. It's so funny to mind control full drop lords and send them straight back to their former base.
@@AdrianOnEarth What happens when you mind control an overlord that has something in it? Or any unit that can contain other units inside? Do the units inside become yours as well? Or just the unit that is mind controlled?

Protoss turtling with Dark Archons is how you win any Free For All game. It forces your opponent NOT to go capital ships or strong units to avoid them being mind controlled and if they send in weak units they get wrecked by reavers and gateway units AND get malestromed.
Mind Control and Guardians are rare on their own, so a mind controlled Guardian is definitely worth an epic tag on its own.

Dark archons = funny shenanigans. I get excited every time I see a glowing red orb pop up on the map. Their such a treat for the eyes as well.
Oh man I love your casts. This one was one of the best also best of 5 with Bisu and Effort. Since you ve been doing 4 a week I am so happy Vale despite I am a little behind, dont have much time to watch it but thanks for it :D I dont mind you miss sometimes a drop on minimap, I miss it too :) I like that your comments are not just about the game but also about your life and when you were younger. You re doing a great job. One question for the audience here, so if he minds control the droplord he controls also the units inside? If yes thats awesome. Take care of yourself buddy

Dark Archons shoudn't lose shields after Mind control, they need a little buff
especially considering the mind controlled units lose all upgrades, which is pretty significant bc DA are late game units
I think they keep their abilities and speed upgrades
Outside of Maelstrom I dont think Dark archons has any use except for very lategame when you have mined all your resources. Which was becoming the case here ;)

In fact the Mind Controlling player can GAIN upgrades FOR FREE by mind controlling units, like they can get Zergling and Hydra Speed and Range and Adrenal Glands and Ultralisk Speed and Armor and Defiler and Queen spells and energy upgrades. I guess they don't get attack/armor upgrades but fuck that would be _insanely_ broken and strong especially in PvP. Nobody would ever get upgrades in PvP for fear of their opponent just making a Dark Archon, getting 3/3/3 instantly and for free and then being 1000s of resources and a dozen more units ahead.
And also, *no* Dark Archons *do not* need a buff, the fact that they exist *already* makes a T _never_ make BCs in a TvP ever, or a P making Carriers or Archons in a PvP. Because there is just no point, they *will* get Mind Controlled.
Mind control should be temporary, like sc2. It's very obnoxious and unfair.

I'm a simple man, I see 4 Dark Archons in the thumbnail, I click on the video.
Lurkers or any other units don't do bonus damage. It might just seem that way because things like goons and hydras do explosive damage, which does 1/2 to light and 3/4 to medium units. Likewise with concussive being 1/4 to massive and 1/2 to medium

Mass Dark Archon is a last resort plan by Protoss. Basically to turtle into one base and super protect it with reavers and Mind control the strongest units. It usually doesn't work, but I have actually seen it force a tie in a game before. Problem with this strategy is that you give up ALL map control.

If a dt one shots an enemy they won’t be notified that they r being attacked. Which is why some games with dts have moments where the player seems to be “unaware” while everything is dying. They literally don’t know that they r there in general

I think the reason Violet made Dark Archons is that h recognised he was inevitably going to be starved out since the Zerg had so many bases, and the only renewable resource in SC is energy. Since devil was very passive at the end anyway, Violet had time to get as much energy as possible and at that point mind control both gets you a unit and gets rid of a unit. A long shot but playing to his outs!

As you mentioned, Corsair DT is standard in pvz after Bisu standardized it
Forces Zerg to go spire before lurkers to kill off corsairs to keep detection up

If DTs one shot something it doesnt tell you youre being attacked on the map
My favorite things-carrier rush and mind control i once beat a terran and zerg teamed against me by mind controlling their scv and drones lol

We play family Starcraft games and my dad wants to ban dark archons because I fill my supply with them and mind control entire armies

I could be wrong but I think if you MC an overlord that has units inside you will get the overlord and the units loaded into it. If Violet could of seen that drop quicker and used the Dark archons to MC almost all of the overlords before they dropped???... How epic would that have been?

No really often you see a zerg win VS P, in macro. Really cool game. The amount of really well placed dark swarm sure make it for the victory when protoss was ahead

I had forgotten all about the Dark Archon. But I rarely saw it used. I never used it when I played Protos. Too bad about Violet. Didnt he play SC2? I seem to recall a Violet after SC2 came out.

Violet: Dark Archons
Mirror matchups are very standard and predictable.. say in zerg vs zerg maybe 10-15 min game u will lings and mutas back and forth .. repetitive and simple .. go protoss vs protoss its maybe a 20 minutes game with very standard goon reaver play .. both those mentioned mirror matchups are standard play which comes down to losing one or two units then gg. Terran vs terran is the only mirror matchup that really can go to late game and you can make little mistakes making good games. However they are very long and very tedious and boring to cast it's like casting a one hour chess game .
I didn’t know that once you mind control an enemy unit it loses its upgrades? The ultras had +5 armor +3 attack & after he mind controlled them they dropped to +2 armor & 0 attack. That’s kinda bull shit
Love when zergs wins :3 protos have so many advantages and counters, specially storms and reavers, and i forget about that fucking mind control lol. Obviously sc1 wasnt balanced (because of protos), thats why sc2 is more competitive. The protos dont have reavers, storms are more weak, there have not mind control, zealots have less attack and carriers range of attack are less, and archons are not so hard to kill. That balanced all. And instead of that things, i like using protos in sc2, but hate protos in sc1 becasuse as i say before, they are so overpowered and i dont like that kind of things in games. So when a zerg wins to a protos, they are like pro gamers for me because they are already in disadvantage.
I just realised most progamers are stupid. Use Ultralisks WITH Hydralisks.
