Chasing the Miramichi Local Train CN 569 on the Newcastle Sub on Solar Eclipse Day - Three Locations

  • Railfanning the CN Newcastle Sub during the total solar eclipse video 1 of 5!
    Canadian National Railway locomotives 4761, and 4772 (both EMD GP38-2Ws) lead local train CN L569 East (Miramichi, NB to Moncton, NB Gordon Yard) seen southbound on the CN Newcastle Subdivision at several locations hauling 13 cars of freight including seven loads of lumber on a nice sunny afternoon.
    Locations included Harcourt, NB (mile 24.64), Coal Branch, NB (about mile 14.9 - aerial view), and at Canaan Station, NB (mile 67.8). CN 569 took the siding at Birch Ridge to allow VIA 14 to pass on the mainline.
    The total solar eclipse occurred a little later in the afternoon with the moon covering the sun for over two minutes.
    Filmed at 1:08pm, 1:34pm, and 2:41pm Monday April 8, 2024 on the CN Newcastle Subdivision.
    Cameras: Canon VIXIA HF R800, Andoer DVC, and DJI Mini 2 quadcopter drone.
