  • One of the questions that I often get about Linux software is the availability is stock trading programs. There are several brokerages that support Linux and have native Linux desktop clients.

Interactive Brokers. Also has linux native client (even AUR package if i remember correctly) which, as well known from Interactive Brokers, has quite features to use and one of the wider assets catalog, if not the most.
Main issue I've found so far is to not be very friendly with a windows manager because of some pop-ups menus, but i guess this can be fixed by adapting the WM to fit with it.

Sierra Chart is VERY FAST and fully programmable. Runs on Linux/wine and really is faster than on native Windows. Using their new execution platform it's possible to get 1 ms fills for your orders so you are able to do some kind of HFT if needed. Full history data support from their own database. This setup is very versatile from noobs up to the highest pro level.

@BlackWorm Thank you for your comment. This is an interesting point too. You are saying that there is no convenience (or no possibility) in having a sort of "common tool" to work with cryptos in general. Better have native wallets for any single crypto you deal with.
I thought about a common tool also for analysis (data, graphs, trends, algorithms, ets.). As far as I know (a bit above zero) wallets do not have analysis capabilities, they just allow you to make transactions and view balance. Am I correct?

@BlackWorm Right. Thank you. 7 days is ok for short term, but I think I need more to better understand the trends. Bitcoin is going over the top and will probably still go up, but surely not linearly. It will have humps and hollows and I think that is the point to try to understand (as much as possible, noone has the crystal ball).

Nice one DT. While I don't trade, I see the value to this video. I think you are finding a newish niche for yourself (and that's good) showing us little known applications is refreshing. Too many Linux content producers are rehashing the same old thing. And what's worse about that comment; others creators will follow the same pattern. The distro run-thoughs are nice too but as you know, there is no shortage of folks doing these. You see one, you can pretty much figure you seen em all. What I would like to see some folks do; come up with a list of issues that you have worked through. That would be a nice trick from time to time. Seeing real-life problems with answers on how to get around them. Granted, we may not see many during our own uses but they do happen. I do miss the bi-weekly (insert your view on the meaning) of your Linux info-news though. It's been a spell since you did one.
