I got hit while on my bike and couldn't walk for a few days. Fucked up my foot. That night I was in tears with no meds and couldn't even get up to access my crutches. Of course I had to piss all night. Luckily I was a slob and had empty Gatorade bottles that I crawled for and used. It was hell.

Happened to me twice, once on an bicycle as an child and once on an motorcycle not long ago, obviously as an adult...
Neither time was an fault of mine, but both time's were equally terrifying.
I walked away both times with an few scratches, an gash, and an laceration or two.
But what was most important was I was able to walk.
I went to the hospital as an child my bicycle was destroyed, as an adult I was able to ride my motorcycle home, with an little damage to the gas tank.
I had the gas tank replaced, and still have my motorcycle and it still rides like it did before.
In this case Conor can buy an new bicycle, glad no one was seriously injured as an result of this incident.

As someone who has driven in Ireland, I'd imagine it's not biker friendly because the 2 lane roads there are as wide as one lane roads in the US and there are rock walls along them in most places.
