Hello 👋 Lorraine. How are you doing? Hope are you fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
I highly recommend you taking lessons to experience it yourself. I have been dancing this dance for 25 years. It totally becomes a huge part of your life after you get it grooving. So many magical moments. It helps if you are musical, but I have seen those who are not natural at it eventually become quite good. I was fortunate to see Jason and Katie dance at conventions many times. I remember so many of these moments over the years where you "surf" a huge wave of audience elation and it is such a high, like you see here in the background. Your face will hurt smiling so wide. I cannot remember if I was at this particular competition but I have been to many dance events with this level of enjoyment. This dance is spreading across the globe, catch the wave:)
I used to dance competitively specifically jitterbug and Lindy. I would have died to have had her as a partner!!!!!!!! Sold my soul to the devil even lol!

Not only are the moves incredible, but it's the perfectly in-synch tempo changes that nail it. But that lift to the shoulder...omg, perfect AND original! Never saw that one before!
The first time I saw this I was mesmerized, I felt the same reactions as you had. I have never seen the over the shoulder lift like that. The song itself was interpreted very well with Jason's moves, his choreography and her ability to follow through AS WELL are totally in synch. SHE'S PERFECTLY SUBMISSIVE... with TOTAL TRUST IN HER PARTNER! The lift I think was inspired by the words "I took her upstairs" that's exactly when he lifts her and ....the next part involving the shoulders the are SIDE BY SIDE with linked shoulders NOT facing each other, FACING OPPOSITE WAYS but moving in unison the the music...just lovely ....how they move out of that position to smoothly move into her twirls like the perfect ballerina, so many turns with out panting or getting dizzy! JASON AND KATIE follow the beat and meaning of the song just perfectly! They have complete trust in each other. Katie is such a devoted and cooperative partner. Jason is so skilled and athletic that HE IS JUST THE PERFECT MALE LEAD DANCER here. I could go on but it's really hard to find the right words to do justice in describing the level of excellence viewed here in this CAPTIVATING DANCE ROUTINE. THANK YOU JASON AND KATIE! I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video. The dancing is amazing & love the music.
RIP Jason..you are missed.
Same I watch it at least once a day
When I started watching this piece a few years ago there were 17 million views. Now, it is 38 million. The guy is unfortunately long gone. RIP
I want one1⚘️
How do you know that? He looks no more than 40 something. The video was uploaded 12 years ago.
@@jellybellyfun3288 He died at 30 years old. He may look older here because of a hidden ailment.
Wow, 42 other people have watched this a million times also! Epic dance routine that cannot be topped.
I think this is my favorite dance of all time. I keep returning to watch it over and over and over again.
Hello 👋 pat
How are you doing today?
Your not the only one.
Me too!!
Not sure how many times I've watched it.👌🇺🇲
She makes me want to be her..wow! Such a great video. I find myself watching it everytime it pops up on my screen. Jason does a great job showcasing her too. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
Stephanie Lowe
Do you know what he passed from?
@@lauradonaldson3269 I copied this part of the info about Jason from an article from 2009....
"According to Colacino's family and Boyle, the cause for his death was a case of pneumonia together with an enlarged heart, resulting in a heart attack."
I think this is the best dancing I have ever seen. Without a doubt.
This is fantastic. I don't think I will ever get sick of watching it.
i don't know how many times i've come back to watch this
I am an old guy now, (85 years in fact) but I used to love to go out dancing, and when I need a "Pick me up" which quite often, this is my "Go To" track, they are sensational.
I've watched it a hundred times over the years and I still enjoy it.
same here.
@@mdnealy4097 same here
I watch this every time it comes up on my screen ,and that’s almost every day!!!
@@yvonnehardaway257 Glad to hear it. It's a shame that Jason Colacino died due to pneumonia and cardiac arrest at the age of 31 on August 9, 2009. Why do you like it?
@@DavidSmith-qo1se they make me happy! Every time I see it ,they both are sooooo good!
This never gets old. One of my favs
I have no idea how many hours of practice they both put in to this dance routine, but its a credit to you both, it was beautiful to watch. And a lesson to new dances to practice, practice, practice until you dance and enjoy it as much as they must of, going by there smiles.
Gotta love that guys home boys cheering him on in the background👏 😊❤
It is a bit disappointing that most of the audience just sat without any reaction. :(
Yeah, but mixing salsa and country genre will damage the industry. The music and dance moves need to be distinct to get the full effect.
Love it when Katy spins Jason and when Jason does the splits!
End of dance was phenomenal!
Those are some good blue jeans!
Yes, but technically, she did not spin him. She hangs back and he spins himself. Jason could spin like VERY few men could.... perhaps better than any man... ever... in the history of the world. lol.
This is the first time I’d ever seen West Coast Swing. Blew my mind. No dance video has ever hit me the same. I thought it was just because this was the first time I’d ever seen it. Thought maybe it was the novelty of West Coast Swing done to country music, but ultimately decided it really is just the performance of these two artists. Watched a lot of dance videos in the years since and regularly come back to this one to just be amazed.
Excelente comentario....
I have watch this video over 100 times and I never get tired of it. They were like magic❤️
No question. 2 beautiful ❤️, talented, dancers, perfect at their craft, so 😢 sad it ended so early. RIP Jason.

I will watch it for the rest of my life💃🏼🕺🏼💃🏼🕺🏼💃🏼🕺🏼💃🏼🕺🏼💃🏼🕺🏼💃🏼🕺🏼
Not surprised his health went by the way if he spent every day with that fit bitch, it good for your heart ....
I will try to catch you. Love this.
seen this video that many time's, love the dance the music and the couple all of it, to talented
The best dance routine that has ever been captured on film, up there with the recording of Eva Cassidy singing somewhere over the rainbow…
OMG! They are both fantastic dancers and so in tune with each other!
Perfect comment
I agree... like they know eachother as well as brother and sister.
The man is awesome. I didn’t see him, but he’s amazing.
My favorite dance ever to watch! I wish I could dance again. I have lymphedema and can barely walk.
It's like they were meant to dance together. I miss him so much. Every dance they did was right on time.. I can only imagine what they would have came up with , should he had still been with us
I've seen this a thousand times and each and every time made me fall more and more in love with this routine. I love it!
Jason's soul lives on through his true talent and love for the dancefloor. He played her like an instrument. RIP Jason.....I know the Angel's are loving you....♥️🌹
Hello 👋 Lorraine. How are you doing? Hope are you fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Must have played this 100 times and sorry I do not even know what Jason looks like. I cannot take my eyes off Katie. Sensational in every way!
They're amazing, together. And, I can't believe how many in the audience, are sitting still. I can't stop moving, while listening to this!
Appreciate your advice but I'm way beyond dancing age! @@joedanow3106
I used to dance competitively specifically jitterbug and Lindy. I would have died to have had her as a partner!!!!!!!! Sold my soul to the devil even lol!
This does not get old...I still cannot believe how good it 👏
“Do not regret growing older, It’s a privilege denied to many” ...🙏
Amen
True, and you don't get to be old by being a fool. There are a lot of young wise men out there that are already Grave Yard Dead!
RICKY RICHARDS it’s too bad Jason had to die so young..😔
@@howardmanley3388 Do you know his age and the cause of his death? Just wondering...I had a brother who died at 56, mostly from being over weight, which led to all his other problems.

At first I couldn't believe how they moved like that.
Then their finale... with that spectacular flourish... my mouth just dropped open!!

The guys behind are awesome lolll it's as if they're watching football!
Jessica Carter Sauve lol! You’re so right.
they are funny
They’re always like that at West Coast Swing competitions. West Coast Swing is one of my and my husband‘s favorite dances. Very complex rules but oh so fun!
😂👍
especially the one that jumps in the air like "touch down"!
This is the most incredible piece of dancework I have ever seen in my life! So saddened to hear the gentleman is no longer here😪

@@JJoh4040 Jason Colacino passed away due to pneumonia and cardiac arrest last August of 2009. He was only 31 at that time.
Ive watched this many times,They r great,❤
So sad that he passed so early in life. Jason Colacino was born on August 20, 1977, and unfortunately passed away on August 9th, 2009 at just 31 years old. Jason suffered pneumonia and cardiac arrest and later it was discovered he had an enlarged heart.
Hello 👋 Janie. How are you doing? Hope are you fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
YOU GAVE YOUR ALL AND THIS DANCE LEAVES LASTING JOY IN ALL OF OUR HEARTS. THE JOY OF EXPRESSION THROUGH DANCE WAS TOTALLY FULFILLED IN YOUR EXQUISITE, RIVETING AND INTERESTING PERFORMANCE! SUPERB HERE MEANS FULFILLING THE BEST OF THE BEST EXPECTATIONS OF DOING JUSTICE TO A PIECE OF MUSIC.
And it was like she was walking down the stairs... to go with the lyrics.... 'Upstairs for a ride'
Still brings a smile to my face. Recommend this video whenever you want. God rest your soul Jason!

I have watched this 100 times. A blue jean company should sign her up as their spokes model. Hot damn
Who says you need a ball gown, high heels, a fancy suit and dress shoes to look really sharp dancing? These two make jeans look just fine and they move together magnificently. She has a cool butt wiggle and they both swirl together excellently. How can dancing be so much fun? TOO COOL!!!
