  • Yet another perhaps final adapter from the very fortunate invention that is type-C to MagSafe 1
Not quite perfectly tuned - but sure good enough to get the job done. I've used it quite a bit now and the mac doesn't seem to mind it one bit.

I brought the same setup but it didn't work for me. The macbook was not charging and the LED also didn't flash orange or green...

Hello. Can a macbook pro mid 2012(same as in this video) take 18.5v-20v? I am planning to buy a usb c to magsafe 1 cable but it outputs the above mentioned voltage. I hope someone can help. Thank you.

It is rated at 16.5V for a reason. Do not give it more, you will fry the charging port.

    Hi 👋
I hope you are doing well!
Need your help with something regarding same concern!
I have new 60w Magsafe Charger L tip unused. And i have bought new Dell windows laptop.
So I've been searching for some sort of socket which i can connect with my Magsafe 60W which convert into USB C tip. So that i can use this unused charger as travel charger rather than spending money on new one!
So do you have any idea or maybe you can help me building something or anything would be nice!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

It will not work. The MagSafe charger provides too much power.

The max output of MagSafe 1 is actually 18,5V, not 19,5. I'm still curious on how the tension difference is handled on MagSafe 1 and 2, eg: if all MagSafe 1 MacBook can handle up to 18,5V or the charger switches the output voltage based on the connected Mac

I just checked my MagSafe 1 chargers, and they're both listed at 16.5 V. My MagSafe 2 charger is listed at 14.85 V. However, Apple sells a tiny adapter that converts MagSafe 1 to MagSafe 2, meaning MagSafe 2 Macs are happy to be charged by MagSafe 1 chargers. However, the reverse may not be true, as Apple does not sell a MagSafe 2 to MagSafe 1 adapter (even though it seems to work in the video).

@@EugWanker, I said max output, not that it was the only. Higher power adaptors (from the 15" and 17" MBP) had a higher tension output
